Chapter 30: Hunter Mission

Reiji was still thinking about the vast kingdom on the map that he had seen a few days ago.

He surmised that the kingdom they were in was larger than Hokkaido by three times. However, based on the information he gathered, the Chodora Kingdom was a weak country as it didn't possess a powerful Arcanist.

Hunters were obviously larger in numbers than the Arcanist.

He wasn't sure whether it was due to the resources required by Arcanist to advance or other problems but he was sure that the country has a way to protect themselves. After all, the vast land at the south where Orcs had inhabited has been impenetrable for more than a century.

There was also a threat of a Dukedom on the east…

"Master! Master! I did it! More than one minute of avoiding the hanging pieces of wood!"

"Oh! That's great. Make it ten minutes now…"

"Wait? W-what? Can't we make a small celebration in the meantime?"

"Ah, yes. Of course…"

Reiji agreed after thinking that he might have been a bit cruel to the 10-year-old kid.

The young man was very happy after hearing his master agree.

In the past few days, Reiji has been teaching the young man several manners, techniques, and customs in practicing kendo.

It was tiring for Diether but he persevered.

The young man wasn't a normal kid as well, he easily remembered what he teaches him. It may be due to the fact that he was talented or it was unique to the people that were capable of practicing Spiritual Energy.

Anyway, Reiji wasn't sure about measuring Diether's talent as he couldn't compare the young man with other kids in his age since he has no one to compare. Yasmin wasn't that appropriate as well.

Two weeks had passed and Diether had decided to visit the Hunter's Association in the village to receive his license card. In truth, he had forgotten about this because of his master's incessant training.

"Oh… Diether! I thought that you're no longer interested in your card. Hahaha!"

As soon as he entered the building, a familiar voice greeted him. She was the beautiful receptionist working on the counter.

"Miss Han! I didn't forget the card… I just didn't have the time…"

Diether answered politely as he excitedly approached the lady. Although she was wearing a dull grey dress, anyone can still feel the charm she exudes. Her mature beauty seems to be very difficult to hide whatever dress she wears.

Han smiled after hearing this and pulled a drawer beneath the counter. There were several locks on the drawer she opened so Diether had to wait for a few moments.

"Here… This is your license card. Right, I remembered that Sir Orga told me to inform you if ever you arrived to take your License card that he wanted to see you… It seems that he wanted to talk about important things..."

"Ah, sure… I'll meet him."

Diether answered but his eyes were on the blank black card with the size of his palm.

He was a bit curious about it especially when the lady handed it over.

'There's nothing in there… It's just a black card… Is there a method to see what's written?'

The young man thought after he saw the card that was still placed in a small box that fitted it perfectly.

"Why is it—"

As soon as he was about to ask why it was only black on it, the card suddenly revealed some text after he touched it.

"Ah?!"

He was surprised by the sudden changes but it excited him to see such a magical item.

His name, his Hunter Star Rank, the branch of Association he registered with, and the number of S-class, A-class, and B-class missions he accomplished were written on the card.

Though the missions were written as "0" right now, he couldn't help but imagine his future to complete high-rank missions. He had a sudden thought that it would be amazing to have some number in those three high-ranking levels of missions.

"I see, so that was why it takes time to create these cards… It has this kind of function."

"Mhmm… That's right. It seems that I no longer have to explain. Anyway, it is what you thought and the information within the card will only appear if the owner wills it in his mind."

"That's very impressive…"

"Haha~ Of course…"

After admiring the card and asking Miss Han again about how to use it within the association, Diether decided to meet the only 3 Star Hunter in this small village.

"Alright, thank you very much, Miss Han. I would like to meet Grandpa Orga now, it's been a while since I saw him."

Han smiled and pointed at the same door where he had entered to take his first hunter exam.

"Go ahead. You can just enter the room…"

Diether bowed to the lady and entered the room.

He saw the familiar old man and unlike before, he was not alone. The old man has a small and young Crimson Eagle with him…

There were several types of beasts that possess a core in their bodies, the Wild Beasts who were weaker than Evil Beasts but have high reproductive rate, the Evil Beasts which strengthens a lot during the night, and lastly, the Normal Beasts who can just barely be considered as Beasts since their cores were almost insignificant.

It can also be said that the Evil Beasts were mutated ones unlike the Wild Beast just like the three-eyed viper that Diether killed.

On the other hand, the Normal Beast's cores barely have beast energy within them and weren't valuable at all.

"Oh? How was your license card?"

Orga asked after seeing the young man. He didn't wait for him to answer as he signaled the Crimson Eagle to leave the room through the window.

Diether can only watch its disappearing figure.

"Ahh… I'm very happy now that I have it… Oh! right, I'm also planning to accept missions for my training right away…"

"That's good to hear, but…"

"…"

Diether tilted his head in question as he waited for the old man's words.

"Haha…I would actually like to give you a mission… Don't worry, it's only a D-class mission. Well, it should have been an F-class if not for the identities of the people involved."

"A mission? Uhmm… I don't understand…"

"Oh… I'm sorry. You take a seat first. Let me explain the details to you."

Diether complied and seated on a cushion that was placed on the tatami mat.

He soon realized that the old hunter wanted to hire a total of 15 Licensed Hunters to guide the Academy's arcane students that will be training within the Wailing Forest.
