Chapter 289: Beast Wave ( 3 )

The night came and the first wave of the Beast Wave begun. They have already taken care of the Wyvern's corpse and its core was also stored in their treasury. 

The core can be used to make a Magic Item or perhaps, it can be sold once they entered the kingdom. On the other hand, the wyvern's meat can't be eaten so they only took its hide and burned the rest. 

Rooaaarr!

The cries of the beast outside their village can be heard… At this time, all kinds of beasts, from smallest to the largest would move and find the most nutritious food they can find… and those are humans or perhaps, Arcanists.

After all, they have pure Spiritual Energy that could help their growth.

If they couldn't find them, they would normally just eat a stronger evil beast that they could find. 

This is why the whole chaotic land would be in constant movement as the others would hunt and be hunted. 

Bang! 

A powerful force coming from the other side of the plateau started ramming on the village's defense array.

"Focus on fortifying the ground! Do not lose your concentration!"

Jhoran, one of the Elders of Bhibra Village, was assigned to lead the 600 half-imps to ensure that there is no underground type of beast that would be able to enter their village. 

Apparently, there are tons of these beasts that could swim on the ground like it's water. Their task is extremely crucial and can be said to be even more important than the people guarding the ground against the flying beasts.

They are currently in a sturdy tunnel created to place the Ground Fortifying Array. This is to ensure that the half-imps would not be disturbed by the flying beasts or the battle above the ground. 

"Inform the one behind you if you're already reaching your limit… We need to have a smooth transition…"

"Yes, leader!"

The half-imps answered. 

Apparently, they only have to pour their Spiritual Energy to charge the already existing array. 

Right now, there are only 200 of them that are doing this and the other 400 were standing beside them to rotate. They are ready to replace anyone that would reach their limit.

'Haa~ This will be a long night… I hope that the Wyvern is already the strongest beast that we'll have to fight…' Jhoran mused.

The Wyvern was actually a very strong beast but it was too confident that it came alone here so it was easily defeated. However, if that beast decided to arrive when the Harpies and Gryphons are here, it would be a different story…

He then observes the core of the array underground.

This is the core of the fortification and he's assigned to guard it at all times. After all, the whole protection within the village would collapse if this one was compromised. 

He has to ensure that nothing will happen to this item.

Boom!

A loud explosion suddenly occurred above the ground. It was followed by an earthquake as the elder became a bit nervous.

'This… Just what is going on above?' Jhoran pondered as he used his Ring Arcana to protect himself and the core in case the tunnel would suddenly collapse.

"Master Reiji… Do you think that this village would last?" Szaaz asked after seeing the desperate attempt of the villagers to protect their place.

Right now, he's seeing more than 100 Harpies and about 40 Gryphons fighting against the Half-Imps…

There should be around 10 casualties on the side of the Half-Imps already…

"Don't worry. You'll help them now… Go and kill some Harpies to lighten their burden… Allow Tenri to wield you…" Reiji gave his orders as Tenri and Mio appeared behind them.

"Haa~ I knew it… But I do not have a possession ability like you, Master…" Szaaz said.

"Don't worry. Tenri is good with all kinds of weapons. Just coordinate with her."

"Yes, Master…"

Tenri then took the Trident and charge at the nearest group of Gryphons.

Right now, Ruthren, Shiori, and Ayumi are fighting the evil beasts alongside the half-imps…

While Ruthren is together with the Elders and ensuring their safety, Ayumi and Shiori are both in the front lines fighting together with the main force of the village. 

The main force is actually the elite Half-Imps who are qualified to enter and kingdoms and have a mission to sacrifice humans for their imp gods or have others converted to their organization known as Three-Eyed Imp Cult.

However, since they are no longer doing that, they have all stayed here and increased the power of their village defense.

Nevertheless, since they didn't get protection from their Imp Gods, they know that it will be difficult like what happened in the past year.

"We can do this!"

"Do not save your potions and Magic Items!"

"Yes! We'll use them whenever we needed!"

They know that after this beast wave, they would be able to collect tons of beast parts and cores and they would earn a lot of money to buy more magic items and potions within the kingdom.

So they know that they can empty their resources!

Reiji saw that though they are being pressured by the flying beasts, they are not losing hope.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The Gryphons that are about 2 meters long dropped from the sky as they fought the half-imps with their physical strength and fire-based Arcane Magic.

On the other hand, the disgusting bird-like creatures called Harpies had also landed near the young sword practitioners! 

They are wielding sharp spears and with their talons, they could easily harm the half-imps if they managed to get closer.

They are quite resistant to Arcane Magic so all the ones wielding a weapon type Arcana are tasked to face them…

'Alright… It's time to help them…'

Reiji thought as he saw that Mourad is being targeted by 10 Harpies!

The young man has been quite annoying for the Evil Beast since even though he only shoots his bullet a few times, it would always critically hit his target or even kill them directly in a single shot!
