The following day Arion woke up along with Mei, and the two turned their heads at the same time, realizing that they were hugging too intimately before they even realized it.
Arion coughed as he got up and said, "I will go check on the rest of the gifts."
Mei didn't say anything as she parted her hair.
Arion yawned as he left the room but couldn't help but think about what happened yesterday night. However, by now, he could barely remember what he saw in his nightmare other than the frightening claws.
But he brushed those thoughts away when he saw Shun fumbling through his gifts and pocketing something after opening them.
"Hey! Stop, you thief!" Arion shouted in a vexed tone as he quickly stepped forward and snatched one of the gifts from Shun's hands.
"Hey, what's wrong? I am just trying to help you out, and here you are, so cranky!" Shun indignantly said while patting his fat pockets.
Arion's expression twisted even more, when he saw the mess Shun had created by opening all of his gifts. And most of them were mostly herbs which he thought the people must have gifted him, thinking that he might be still injured somewhere.
But he was not disappointed with those gifts since now he at least had enough herbs to last him for a month if he ate moderately and need not force himself to eat ordinary food which he might even vomit.
And most of all, he would be able to increase his Defity by eating them.
However, some of the gift cases were opened without anything inside them.
Arion didn't have to think much to realize that Shun had pocketed whatever was inside these cases.
He sternly said as he put out his palm, "Give them back, you shorty. Don't you have no shame in stealing other people's stuff?" Even though he said with a righteous expression, he knew he himself was no better considering how he stole many things in his past life.
However, in his defense, he considered it as something he had to do for survival. But Shun was blatantly stealing right before his eyes. So, how could he let this slip past him?
"Shorty? You dare call me that?" Shun stood up with his brows narrowed. However, because of being shorter than Arion, he had to look up at Arion's face, making him appear less intimidating even though he tried puffing his chest.
Now Arion seemed like a senior who was about to pick a fight with his junior.
Arion's lips curved, "You heard me right. Or what else should I call a little ducky like you?"
"Hmph, look who's talking. Did you forget that before your lucky ass transformation, you were shorter than me by an entire arm? I bet we all know who is the true 'ducky' here," Shun said with a wrinkled nose.
Arion's brows twitched since he knew that his previous look was not as charming and attractive as his present look. But why would he care about it when he no longer looked like that before?
Arion smiled and ridiculed, "It seems like our ducky here is jealous. We live in the present and not in the past. So, there is no point in trying to poke about my previous appearance."
Arion's lips pinched together as he continued, "But nice try in trying to distract me!"
Arion said as his hand suddenly shot towards Shun's bulging pockets.
Shun quickly jumped backward, making Arion surprised by how fast he reacted.
But he didn't give up and decided to catch him for sure this time and decided to not just try and grab him aimlessly but to time it correctly.
"Haha, too slow. Besides...you shouldn't be so stingy, you know," Shun laughed as he casually dodged Arion's attempts at catching him.
Even if Arion had enhanced senses, he found it hard to even touch the corner of Shun's clothes. It was as if the faster he moved, the more evasive Shun was.
Arion realized that he wouldn't be able to catch him the traditional way and decided to do something unorthodox by kicking a chair at Shun, whose legs were in mid-air.
Shun was simply jumping around when he suddenly saw Arion kicking a chair towards the spot where he was about to land.
He didn't expect that Arion would kick a chair all of a sudden and lost his balance for just a moment as he tried to balance himself again after dodging the chair.
Arion was impressed that Shun managed to even dodge the chair by a hair's breadth, but all he needed was a single moment of distraction as he leaped towards Shun like a wolf.
However, Shun's brows raised as he inhumanly dodged Arion by stepping back. But because he couldn't see what was behind him, he tripped his leg over a chair and fell while the sound of coins tumbling out resounded.
Arion's mouth fell open upon noticing dozens of pranars falling out, which were basically precious money since a pranar was basically a coin made out of pranic materials and also the most used currency among the people.
Shun's pockets became papery as all the dark red colored pranars slipped out of his pocket and fell on the floor.
Arion counted at least more than fifty pranars lying around and couldn't help but imagine how generous those people were to gift him pranars.
He kicked away Shun and began to collect all the pranars that fell on the floor. Shun clicked his tongue, seeing that all his hard work had gone to waste, especially when he took the effort to open all the gifts.
Arion knew how precious of a currency pranar was since even a single pranar could buy a three-course meal for a family easily.
And with more than fifty of them, he was sure he could buy himself enough herbs to last another month at least.
But after that, he would have to find a way to earn some money on his own since he wasn't comfortable with asking Mei to buy him costly herbs.
As an able man, he felt that he should take up matters in his own hand rather than relying on others.
He was no longer a disabled person or somebody who was forced to steal to survive but a healthy young man with enough options to support himself.
He took out a pouch lying nearby and meticulously put all the pranars he collected into the pouch and took a good look at it, feeling happy to have his own money.
"Pfft, are you seeing money for the first time?" Shun asked with a bitter expression, feeling bad that he tripped like an amateur.
Arion snorted, "That's what I want to ask you. If you had filled any more in your pockets, you would have ended up falling on the floor anyways, haha."
He then squinted his eyes as he asked, "Are you by chance hiding more of these somewhere else?"
Arion was experienced in stealing items, so at times he would have to hide whatever he stole in absurd places to avoid detection. So, he couldn't help but think that Shun might have also done the same.
Shun got up and dusted his pants as he said with a smirk, "Come find out if you want."
Seeing his smirk, Arion wrinkled his nose thinking that he was asking him to search his underwear or something since otherwise, Shun wouldn't confidently say something like this.
He knew Shun might be hiding some more in weird places but decided to let go since it was not worth it to touch any pranars that had been in places he didn't dare to imagine.
Anyways, he was confident that Shun would only have a few at best while the rest had fallen off of him.
However, his eyes narrowed when he noticed that Shun was no longer holding a crutch. Before, he didn't realize it since he was distracted by him stealing his gifts.
So, he skeptically asked as he got up, "Don't tell me you are not injured anymore?"
Shun waved his hands as he sat down on a chair and said with a leaned back posture, "Of course. I was only this close to recovering anyway. No biggie."
Arion crossed his arms, "Then why are you still here? Didn't you tell me that you would get lost after your injuries are healed?"
Shun's expression became thoughtful as he said, "That's because I changed my mind after yesterday night, especially after talking with the people here. Since you are lucky enough to get trained by Old Zi and even brave enough to take the Ironheart test, I felt that I should also take the test and find out some answers myself till my memories return. Otherwise, how will a weak guy like me survive with all those Dreadlings looming around?"
Veins popped up in Arion's temple seeing his annoying smug face while talking like a pitiful kid who has no one to look after him.
