"You mean Prince Kaiden" The nurse was surprised when this person casually she was just lost for words. How daring this person was to disrespect the prince like this?!
"I suppose?" Gideon murmured a few words saying "Kaiden never told me if I should call him prince though"
The nurse never felt more ashamed to see such a person. But suddenly a thought flew into her head.
"Are you perhaps Gideon Lemery?" His black hair and green eyes fit the category. However, most of the staff imagined him to be someone as tall as his highness. Besides that, they also imagined him of having a plain face but this person in front of her was rather... adorable?
"Yes, that's me. Can please help me find kai-er... his highness, the prince?" Gideon awkwardly corrected himself after confirming his identity with the nurse. The nurse was just in shock, who knew this was THE Gideon Lemery.
The nurse scratched the back of her head and looked around. She was supposed to be on duty and focus on taking care of the patients. But then again, Gideon Lemery is a patient himself. She remembered a brief moment from two days ago. The prince personally had been taking care of Gideon despite the King's opposition to this idea. He would be bringing his work into Gideon's room just to say "I'm still working, don't worry about it". Eventually, of course, The king managed to persuade his son to leave the Caduceus Wing.
"If he needs anything, bring it to him. If by the off chance he does look for me, you can bring him straight to me. And if I hear any complaints from him, I'll have your heads served to the dogs" Kaiden used this threat to everyone single nurse in the Caduceus Wing.
It's not like they were already bombarded with stress right? Haha... This was a wet towel to their already depressing mood with how many good people got injured during the ball.
"It would be my pleasure to help you, Sir Gideon" the nurse bowed her head a bit just so that she could hide her frown momentarily.
The nurse led the way to which part of the castle Kaiden stayed in. They had to exit the building for a brief moment to go there. The nurse didn't offer a coat or jacket to Gideon and continued walking. Gideon shivered a little bit due to the cold air of the night hitting him. He wanted to ask if he could borrow a blanket but whenever he was about to speak, he felt embarrassed. They entered another part of the castle but the nurse stopped after a few feet in.
"Unfortunately, I cannot bring you directly to him since I have no authority" The nurse actually did have authority, but she just did not want to guide him any longer.
"That is unfortunate... not to worry it's alright! You've helped enough, could you at least tell me which room I should look for?"
"If I remember correctly, it should be the door on the left side of the second floor. You'll be able to find it quickly since there's only one staircase in this building" The nurse bid him farewell and left.
Indeed there was a chance of finding Kaiden in that room. But who knew that the nurse may have lied a little and that room is actually Luciel's private study? Meaning the chances of seeing Luciel instead of Kaiden was higher. Gideon felt a little bit conflicted because he did not know if the nurse had told him the correct information.
"It's still better than nothing right?" he mumbled to himself and walked up the staircase.
When he was upstairs he looked in both directions and the nurse messed up. There were several doors so how could he know which one.
'Perhaps it's the first door' He thought to himself and walked up to the door to knock.
His knocks were met with silence. Gideon waited for a little bit before knocking again. Still, there was no answer. Should he knock more or look somewhere else? While he was trying to decide, the door opened and it was not Kaiden who greeted him.
"I was wondering which uninvited guest decided to knock on my private study and to my surprise, it was you" Luciel looked down at Gideon who was in shock. The nurse lied to him!
"I was just..."
"You're looking for my son, right? He's busy at the moment but if you want you can wait here for him"
"Thank you but I think I should just go"
"Nonsense! you're a patient, and do you think I'll let you walk back in the cold?" Luciel used his powers to gently bring Gideon into his study.
Gideon yelped in surprise because his body suddenly felt like it was flying. He was placed down on a chair and opposite him, Luciel sat down. It seems like the king had been drinking just based on the half-empty bottle of whiskey and the glass with a few melted cubes of ice.
"I would offer you a drink but you look so sickly so I won't"
Gideon's face turned sour and he tried to hide it with a smile as he replied "Thank you for your worry, your highness but I don't drink alcohol"
"I have some water here" he twirled his hand and Gideon didn't know that Luciel just used his powers for something useless as fetching a glass of water.
"I'm fine-Oh thank you" A glass of water slid into his fingertips and Luciel drank from his own glass.
"I've been meaning to talk to you ever since my son pulled you away from me. I'm still curious about some things."
Was it just Gideon or did the glass he was holding become colder. He placed the glass of water on the table next to him. He looked back at Luciel who had been staring at him with those piercing red eyes of his. Gideon knew this day would come again but he didn't expect it to be this soon.
Luciel was a little bit amused at how this kid looked like a kitten that was shaking in fear. He already heard most of the details about Gideon from Amias. He wanted to see the kid for himself but Kaiden kept blocking his way from doing so. Who would have thought that the person would bring himself directly to him? He held out his hand and brought it close to Gideon's forehead. Indeed, Amias and Azazel weren't lying when they said Gideon was not half-human.
Gideon had held his breath when Luciel placed his hand on his head. He knew what Luciel was doing and that his secret had been exposed. But even if he tried to hide it, he did not know how to escape from his grasps. It was only when Luciel removed his hands was he able to breathe freely again.
"I already know that your origin story had been forged. But I didn't expect you would be a half-angel..."
"I'm sorry" Gideon lowered his head. The only thing he can do right now is begging for mercy.
"Why are you apologizing? Did you do something wrong that you need to apologize?"
Gideon pursed his lips and stared at Luciel with disbelief. Yeah, he was stupid right now to apologize when he hasn't done anything wrong. Maybe unconsciously he felt apologetic for simply existing.
Luciel thought about something for a while but he was updated on everything that occurred after the ball. Gideon was still one of the suspected personnel that had let this incident happen but Damien testified that the kid was innocent. It was rare to see that guy testify for anyone other than the nobles and Luciel. And besides that, Kaiden insisted that he was innocent but his son would not elaborate what happened to him and why he and this person disappeared amidst the chaos.
"Stop shaking so much, I won't hurt you" Luciel laughs as he takes another sip of his whiskey.
"At least I'll try not to because I promised someone to be fair to everyone" he added that to his previous statement. It was hard for Gideon to reply to this man. Not only was his presence overwhelming, but he also looked a lot like Kaiden.
"Then why do you want to talk to me?" Gideon slowly says and Luciel lets out a chuckle.
"I just wanted to ask you directly since my son and advisers won't tell me"
"Ask me directly what?" Gideon tilted his head in confusion.
"What happened to you and Kaiden during the Winter Ball Incident?"
Gideon was sure that he wasn't drinking this time around but he still choked. He wasn't expecting this question to suddenly pop up. Luciel wouldn't be asking this if Kaiden was honest about it.
'Why did you leave the explaining to me?!'
"Ahh... er... Hmm... I- I actually don't know where to start explaining" Gideon stuttered nervously.
'Which sane person would tell "your son got poisoned so I had to give him a blowjob" to this person'
