Chapter 28 A Warm Hug

Chao Sheng was very quick in bringing back the bottle of Heart Protection Pills. After which, Shen Juncheng poured one out and fed it to Su Anan. He then said, “Chao Sheng, go call Chao Xi over.”

‘Chao Xi was also a woman, so it’s more convenient.’

“Young Master, Chao Xi is out on a mission to help Prince Xian. She’s not in the Shen Manor,” Chao Sheng replied.

Shen Juncheng frowned. That guy was in such a hurry to get rid of this batch of goods. “Then, you…” Chao Sheng stood there respectfully.

Shen Juncheng was about to say, “Then you transfer your internal energy,” but on second thought, he realized that Chao Sheng was also a stranger to Su Anan.

After hesitating for a moment, he suddenly sighed and decided to no longer mind.

No matter how much she might dislike it, she was still his wife after all, even if it was only for show. He couldn’t let just anybody touch her body.

So, he just sat there on the edge of the bed and turned his head away from her. He then took out the blanket and began fumbling to untie her clothes.

“This woman’s waist is slender, and her skin is as smooth as fine silk’

Shen Juncheng closed his eyes and tried to ignore the sensation of touching her. He then began to concentrate on pouring his inner energy into her to activate the medicine.

Su Anan felt like she had fallen into a dark glacial crevasse. It was cold and dark everywhere, so she began to look for any source of light.

Suddenly, a beam of light descended in front of her. In it, a familiar figure stood. She was overjoyed and ran forward desperately. She rushed into the beam of light and embraced the figure tightly. Ah! She took a deep breath. It was so warm, like the first days of June. He was neither arrogant nor impatient, and he had a faint smell of medicines on him. It made her feel at ease…

Shen Juncheng’s eyes suddenly widened as he forgot to continue pouring out his inner energy.

Cui Yan finally finished boiling the medicine and hurriedly brought it over. When she pushed open the door, she coincidentally met the Young Master coming out. She then hurriedly bowed.

Shen Juncheng glanced at her and said, “Go ahead and have your Young Miss drink the medicine.”

His voice was inexplicably cold, as if he was very unhappy. Cui Yan subconsciously looked but only saw the Young Master’s cold back and the folds of his billowing robes. Cui Yan couldn’t care less though. She shrugged it off as her making him unhappy as she had disturbed him in the middle of the night.

She then focused her thoughts and quickly got to having her Young Miss take the medicine.

After having her drink it, the Young Miss seemed to have gotten much better instantly. She was no longer shivering and crying out that she was cold. And there even was a thin layer of sweat on her forehead. After seeing this, Cui Yan let out a sigh of relief as her worried heart was able to relax.

She didn’t expect the Young Master’s medicine to be so effective.

But she didn’t dare go to sleep again and stayed by the Young Miss’ side the entire night.

After Shen Juncheng returned to his room, he immediately ordered his servants to prepare a bath for him before quickly taking off his clothes.

After he finished bathing, he glanced at his white veil and the clothes he’d worn. He frowned, then called for Chao Sheng to order her to throw them away.

Chao Sheng was surprised. ‘Why is the Master getting rid of his clothes for no reason? Could it be because the Young Madam had pulled his sleeve when she was unconscious?’.

‘Sigh! Master’s obsession for cleanliness is getting worse.’

Chao Sheng obediently took them away.

The night finally returned to silence, with even the sound of barking dogs slowly fading away.

However, Shen Juncheng tossed and turned on his bed. He kept feeling that there was still a scent and warmth on his hand that wasn’t there before.

‘And that touch…’

He turned again while recalling that scene. He couldn’t help but feel annoyed. ‘Damn it! I shouldn’t have saved her!’

The next day.

The day was cloudy, a cool breeze blew past the willows in the East Garden.

Su Anan sat in front of the window, looking at the willow sway, deep in thought.

Her paleness from yesterday had vanished while her normal blush returned. The wind blew past her skirt, offering a glimpse of her slender figure.

She had only been there for three days.

On the first night, she was drugged with an aphrodisiac, and the heat caused her to faint.

And the next night, she was poisoned with a frost poison, that made her so cold it felt like she fell inside an ice cellar.

The alternating hot and cold experiences had slightly dispirited her. As she looked at the birds freely flying in the skies, she deeply sighed.
