I tried fixing my hair the best I could, afterwards I focused on putting a lipstick over my lips in hopes of it covering up how swollen they looked. It didn't help that much but at least it looked a little better.
As I made my way downstairs I didn't miss the disappointed look my mother sent my way.
"And this is my eldest daughter, Kyomi." My mother introduced me to the businessman as soon as I situated myself next to her. "Kyomi, this is Mr. Chadwick and his son Ben."
"It's a pŀėȧsurė to meet you both." I greeted them with a pleasant smile.
"We've heard nothing but good things about you Kyomi, in fact your mother and I was having a discussion about Ben taking you out for a date this Sunday."
I looked at my mother in total shock and surprise. They've never once let me go out with any man before, so why now? Why did they make an exception for this businessman's son?
"Is father okay with it?" I asked, unable to stop myself from asking. It just didn't seem normal for him to have agreed to something like that out of nowhere. Suddenly to go from not talking to a single guy to allowing me to go on dates? That didn't seem right at all.
And out of all the times, why did it have to be when Dante started giving me attention?
"I like her already for my son." Mr. Chadwick told my mother. "Just by that question I could already tell that everything everyone says about her is true, you really have well behaved children."
My mother practically beamed at his words, these were the kind of compliments my father and her thrived on.
"Thank you, but yes Kyomi, I've already discussed it with your father. He's okay as long as it's somewhere in public like a nice dinner." She answered me.
Why?
For once I didn't want to follow what my parents said, I didn't want to go on a date with this man. He wasn't Dante and as much as I hated to admit it, I didn't think I'd want to date anyone other than him.
I just gave my first kiss to him, that may mean nothing to someone like Dante but to me it meant everything.
I knew I couldn't even say no, for my parents would throw a fit if I ever disobeyed their words.
I was stuck on this date and I already knew I was going to hate it, for right now the only man on my mind was Dante Clarke.
