When Mila arrived home, it was already past eleven in the morning.

Mila’s mother was retired and usually liked to dance with her friends. Her father was the vice-principal of a nearby school and wasn’t busy with work. He stayed at home on weekends to read. The couple had already started a comfortable retirement life.

“Dad, Mom, I’m back.” Mila smiled and called out to her parents.

When Yvonne saw her daughter return, she instantly beamed with joy. “Darling, why do you look so thin? Did you lose weight again from filming?”

“No!”

Mila carried the vegetables to the kitchen. In fact, she had only received one job in the past month, and there were only a few scenes. However, she had always reported the good news and not the bad news. She didn’t want to make her parents worry.

Her parents were in the education industry. At first, they wanted Mila to take this path, but Mila’s ambitions weren’t there. She insisted on applying to the acting department at a drama academy.

Yvonne was pleased with her daughter and smiled in relief.

An hour later, all the dishes were served. Gordon hadn’t eaten his daughter’s dishes for a long time and ate two bowls of rice in one go.

After the meal, Yvonne cleaned up the dishes. Mila said nervously, “Dad, Mom, I have something to announce.”

“What is it?”

As soon as Yvonne finished speaking, Mila took out the red marriage certificate from her bag, opened it, and placed it in front of them.

“Dad, Mom, Chaucer and I are married.” After saying that, Mila squeezed her fingers nervously, not daring to look at them.

The room was silent for a few seconds. Yvonne broke the silence first. “Mila, you said the other day that you wanted to try to get along with him first. Why are you married already?”

Gordon slammed his hand on the table and said angrily, “Marriage is a big deal. You should ask us first! If you and that kid get married secretly, will he think highly of you in the future?”

“Dad, it’s my fault. I didn’t think too much at that time.” Mila lowered her head and admitted her mistake.

Yvonne picked up the marriage certificate and looked at it. Her daughter was beautiful, and Chaucer was quite handsome. The two of them were very compatible, but it was irresponsible to get married so rashly.

“Mila, marriage is a lifetime thing. You’ve only met Chaucer once, and are you sure he’s the one?” Yvonne looked at her.

Seeing that her mother had no objections, Mila immediately walked to Gordon and held his arm. “Dad, since you agreed to my blind date with Chaucer, you must be satisfied with his character and financial situation. He and I like each other and would have gotten married sooner or later. We just registered our marriage first.”

Gordon was speechless. He did support Mila and Chaucer’s blind date, but getting married was a different story.

“Since you’re married, why didn’t Chaucer come with you? Why are you here alone?” Gordon frowned unhappily.

He wondered if Chaucer was too scared to come and let his daughter take the blame all by herself.

“That’s right, Mila. Since you’ve registered your marriage, you should bring Chaucer back for a meal!”

Mila quickly said, “He went to the airport for a business trip right after the registration. When he comes back, I’ll definitely bring him back for dinner.”

“He doesn’t even have time to visit his father-in-law. What a busy man!” Gordon said sarcastically.
