“Mom, we’ll be leaving then.” Chaucer got into the car.
Jen waved at the two of them. “Alright, go ahead. Mila, you’ve just finished work. Let’s go shopping tomorrow.”
“Sure!”
Mila smiled and agreed. Although Chaucer had a strange personality, his family was easy to get along with.
As Chaucer drove out of the parking lot, Mila asked in confusion, “Chaucer, why didn’t you send Mom home?”
Mila felt Chaucer was a very caring son, so she felt it was a little strange that he would let her mother take a taxi home.
“She can go back on her own,” Chaucer replied calmly. Actually, the Chapman family’s driver was already waiting in the parking lot. After they left, her mother would get into the car and leave, but Chaucer naturally wouldn’t tell Mila the reason.
Seeing that he still had that nonchalant attitude, Mila became even more dissatisfied and didn’t speak again.
Chaucer drove Mila back to Dragon Bay and returned to the office.
Mila pushed open the door. She thought the house would definitely be in chaos after she was away for a month, but she didn’t expect it to be as clean as when she left.
She went into her bedroom and peered inside. The tiles and tabletops were all clean.
“I didn’t expect Chaucer would clean the rooms!”
Mila sighed, but she had no idea the servants of the Chapman family came here every day to clean.
Mila unpacked her luggage and threw all her clothes into the washing machine. Then, she took out her cosmetics and placed them on the dressing table. After that, she leaned against the sofa and wanted to watch the television. She also logged into “Milassima”.
She had stopped updating for a month. Many followers had left comments, asking her what had happened recently and why she had stopped updating.
Mila leaned on the sofa and thought for a moment. She decided to upload a video of making a rose cake.
As she had been filming for the past month, she hadn’t had any sweets. She missed cakes after not eating them for so long.
However, she didn’t have everything she needed at home and had to go to the supermarket to buy some.
Just as she was about to go out, Mila suddenly remembered many people had watched the promotion live-stream “Painful Love”. Although she wasn’t famous now, someone should recognize her. To avoid unnecessary trouble, she wore black-framed glasses and a mask.
Mila went out with her bag and walked around the supermarket. She bought some ingredients for making cakes and some groceries.
After returning home, Mila set up a camera in the kitchen and prepared to start making cakes. She first took out three eggs from the fridge and separated the egg white from the yolk, then placed the egg white in the fridge.
Mila stirred an equal proportion of milk and corn oil evenly, sifted in the cake flour, and poured the egg yolks into the mix. The cold egg white was added to the lemon juice and whipped up with the eggbeater. Then, she mixed everything and put it in the oven.
Thirty minutes later, the room was filled with the fragrance of the cake. After a while, the oven made a Ding-Dong sound, and the cake was ready to be taken out.
Mila cut the cake and began to cream it. In the middle, she squeezed in the strawberry jam she made and laid it out layer by layer. Finally, she washed the red roses and inserted them into the cake. She also sprinkled some petals on the cake to create some layers.
Mila looked at the cake and smiled in satisfaction. Then, she started editing the video. By the time she finished editing and uploading it, it was already past four in the afternoon.
Mila had wanted to sleep for a while after posting the video, but Chaucer was coming back soon, so she didn’t have the time. She could only take a break on the balcony, drinking black tea and eating the cake she had just made while admiring the beautiful scenery outside the window.
A gentle breeze blew past, bringing with it the fragrance of flowers. The light of the setting sun shone on the glass, refracting specks of light.
It was getting dark. Mila saw it was almost seven o’clock, but Chaucer still hadn’t returned home.
Mila took out her phone and called him. “When are you coming home? Will you be home for dinner?”
“I’m having dinner with my friends tonight. Don’t wait for me,” Chaucer said.
“Okay,” Mila replied. Hearing Chaucer mention his friend, Mila remembered they didn’t know each other’s social circles and had never met each other’s friends.
Since Chaucer wouldn’t come back for dinner, Mila couldn’t be bothered to cook. She made some noodles and fried an egg.
During dinner, Mila couldn’t help but wonder if it was the right decision to marry Chaucer.
As soon as this question appeared in her mind, Mila quickly shook her head. Since they were already married, why should she think about that? It would only make her even more troubled.
