The world was shrouded in darkness.
The period where the people had everything.
The world was cut open and a Great Darkness covered the world.
The darkness swallowed human society, turning humans into dust and turning towns into nothing.
This is sin. A judgment for the sinful mankind. A punishment.
The King who ruled the world. The King who controlled the principle.
He who stood against the Great Darkness.
The Great King had to bear all of the darkness and became a stone statue.
The King, the Great King of Mankind who had become a stone statue watched over us. The King who bore all of the darkness. The King who drank the sins of humankind.
Pray to the King.
Then you’ll be saved.
The King is always watching.
Now then, pray.
Pray to the King.

“Hm.”
I closed the book I had been reading. The book I had been reading was the oldest mythology book in this library. The book was talking about the origin of a religion.
………Somehow it felt like Christianity to some extent. The part where you could be saved if you prayed.
Just what this got to do with me? Up until now, this was the best answer I could get. Was it the Great Darkness or the Great King that made me become like this?
…….. No, no way.
I was just an ordinary boy in my previous world. I didn’t know anything about the Great Darkness or the Great King. Basically, I didn’t know anything about a king or someone who governed something. I had never seen the Great Darkness either. I didn’t know anything about such a major incident like that.
Or maybe the Great Darkness was actually not defeated yet so the Great King summoned something that could defeat the Great Darkness? ……… If that was the case then what was the reason behind this curse of mine? What was with this shitty ability? Besides, if it was about the Great Darkness then let Alaine beat it. If even Alaine couldn’t win against it then it’d be definitely impossible for me.
………Haah… I guess this one is also a miss.
Ever since then. From the day we arrived at the Continental Library, I had been analyzing each letter indifferently. For the time being, I was already able to read all of the books in this library. It had taken me 2 days to get where I was now. I was starting to get really sleepy. Maybe soon enough I’d pass out. I could finally get one short sleep.
Maybe in just a few days. Surely. Most probably.
“Hhnnn… Haaah…”
I stretched my stiff body and sighed.
I put back the book that I had finished reading in just 10 minutes and picked another book that could be useful to me.
I was trying to find a book that could have a positive impact on me. By the way, so far, I have found none.
Sad, isn’t it?
I continued reading until I passed out from sleepiness and collapsed.
