Ann was so stunned that she was rendered speechless. 'Is this guy for real? I haven't seen him in four years and when he finally shows his face, his pulling this stunt. What does he take me for?'
She stared at Jeff who was still on his knees waiting for her reply; A minute passed, the clock was ticking like a time bomb. *Tic! Tac!* When suddenly she got up, grabbed her purse, took out her phone and called Lea to come and pick her up.
Jeff was still on his knees, "Aren't you going to answer me?" he asked in a low tone of voice and a sad... sad...sad looking face, a tear was forming in his glistening blue eye.
Ann with a soft heart couldn't take it anymore. She walked towards Jeff, squatted in front of him, looked him in the eyes and said; "Give me some time alright! Let me think about it".
She took the ring "Let me hold on to this alright!" Gave him a light kiss then got up and walked out the door without looking back.
Jeff wasn't sure what had just happened; he stayed in the same spot for a while then collapsed on the floor and started laughing hard. "Hahaha, she said she would think about it, and she took the ring. Is that a yes? Ah, no matter what it is at least is not a no, Hahaha!"
In the meantime, Lea arrived at the hotel, went to the front desk and asked what room Jeff was staying.
The front desk clerk would not tell her, so she called Ann who was just happened to be walking out of the elevator looking entirely out of it.
She ran to Ann and handed her a pair of sunglasses and facemask. "Are you crazy? What if someone recognizes you? Put this on quick and let's get out of here."
As they were making their way to the lobby, a couple of guests came in. They were curious about the person with sunglasses and a facemask; they stopped by the concierge and inquired.
However, no one could tell who the person was. Even if they knew they would never divulge it to anyone, knowing that the person just came out of the private elevator that belonged to their CEO.
The two guests that saw Ann were famous reporters of a public television station in Asia.
They knew that the hotel belonged to the Mega World International Group of Companies and the elevator where that person just came from, was a private one. They couldn't wait to arrive in their rooms and report the news to their headquarters.
"Latest news: [An unknown woman wearing a facemask and sunglasses was seen leaving from the private elevator of CEO Jeff Go, in one of their hotels in America. Who is she? A girlfriend? Or a hidden mistress? For all the women's out there hoping and wishing. It seems that the most eligible bachelor is now taken.]
The news anchorman said it with a straight face as if it was the end of the world for all women who were still hoping to become Mrs. Jeff Go.
The news became the talk of the town, especially with the elite class, wherever there was a gathering Jeff was the topic of their conversation. Especially those with daughters in the family, one of them was Ann's biological Mother who had just acquired a stepdaughter.
=====
Upstairs in the Penthouse, Jeff didn't know that he was the trending topic on social media. Ronald tried to inform him several times, but to no avail; Jeff could care less. His was too focused on finding a way to convince his wife to stay married to him; the rest didn't matter at the moment.
Two more days and he will need to go back home; Ann had not given him an answer yet. 'What if she's already at the courthouse filing for divorce?'
He couldn't concentrate on anything, he had no appetite to eat, and he just stayed in his room waiting-and-waiting-and-more waiting. He had never felt this useless in his entire life. He could go to her or give her a call, but he chose to remain and give her space.
On the last day, Ann finally called requesting to meet up.
Jeff's didn't know how to react, should he celebrate or should he worry about the outcome. Either way, he will find out soon enough, he couldn't wait for the time to come.
Jeff and Ann agreed to meet in a secluded area to protect their identity.
If it were up to Jeff, the meeting place would have been in the hotel room. However, Ann was quick to decline with the excuse of protecting herself. [ from whom, I don't know]

Ann put the document on the table for Jeff to read. "This is an Agreement between you and I. If you agreed to all the terms, we can continue with this trial marriage."
Jeff glanced at the document, scanned through it quickly. A smile was peeking at his lips after reading.
Below is what's written in the contract:
This is an agreement between Ann Wen and Jeff Go (collectively the "Parties" and individually a "Party") who are contemplating the continuation of their marriage to each other.
1) The parties intend for this Agreement to dictate terms for their trial marriage.
2) The parties entered into this Agreement freely and under no duress or undue influence from the other Party.
3) The parties agreed on a no Consummation period whenever in an area considered unsafe zone [By appointment only!]
4) The parties will not hinder each other regarding their career or employment opportunities.
5) The parties will have separate dwellings [But have access to each other home]
6) The parties acknowledge that this Agreement will be in effect until upon termination of the marriage whether by death or divorce.
7) The parties recognize that they been provided with a reasonable period to review this Agreement.
8) This Agreement may only be terminated or amended by the Parties in writing signed by both of them.
Jeff almost laughed out loud after reading the Agreement that Ann layout to him. He was willing to agree to anything as long as she didn't ask for a divorce. "Where do I sign?" Jeff asked nonchalantly.
Ann "..."
Once the signing of the contract was completed, both kept a copy.
Jeff put his away quickly, and sat next to Ann. Grabbed her face with both hands; kissed her lightly on her forehead, her eyes, the tip of her nose, both sides of her cheeks, and then her lips.
He then tilted her face, looked in her eyes and said "Did I ever tell you that I love you! Mrs. Jeff Go."
Ann: '...?' 'What the heck! I hardly know him, and he thinks he knows me, how can he blurt out such word. Love? Ya! Right, who are you kidding? Me!'
Ann got up in a hurry, left without replying to his confession or even a word of goodbye.
