Xaya wanted her husband to follow her and watch how she learns, however, the old grandma yanked her arm. She convinced her smoothly to follow her to the old house saying 'You will surprise your husband later!' and it was enough. Looks like Xaya had heard somewhere that the surprises are an essential part of the gleeful life.
"Husband, just wait!"
"I will! Just go and learn. Haaa…"
The husband sighed as the rare sensation of solitary shrouded his body. His back was always feeling light, but the immense softness was likewise assailing him on every move. Now, Kyoya could stretch out his body without bumping into his wife, a small sense of freedom oddly satisfying.
It's not like Xaya is a bad wife. She is just too clingy, but Kyoya couldn't possibly say that he can get used to her softness being on his back. A misunderstanding surely would ensue if he said so.
That's why, Kyoya could only make some small steps, such as the quest from the husband, and slowly give his wife common tasks for the constant happiness in their life.
"How long are you planning to stay here for?"
The village head then asked.
After coming back to the village, Kyoya and his party headed straight to his house. The meat was prepared by the husband and his title 'Butcher' surprising the village, but there was a lot of meat within his inventory, so Kyoya shared his stuff willingly.
He didn't forget to add 'It's a magic trick' to Xiaoxiao as she always funnily looks at him when he mentions it.
The village was in a poor state, that's why…
"At least a few days."
"Really! Thank god! The prayers have been answered…"
The village head bowed a few times, then clasped his hand in prayer. Then, the old man left Kyoya and Xiaoxiao alone in his house as he went out to prepare some stuff for sacrifice. The village of the second floor can at most sacrifice their time. In their case, they clean up the rivers from all contamination.
"Most villagers believe in God Of Hunt, Goddess of River, and other similar gods that can help them in their daily lives."
Since it felt like Kyoya is truly oblivious to the world pillar rules and lifestyle, Xiaoxiao commented on every occasion. Her every explanation wasn't sugared and directly spoke about the good and bad points here.
However, whether it is a world pillar or outside world, Kyoya believed them to be the same. Back then, even a mere puppy was strong enough to make him bruised. Common people of such worlds have little different constitutions, so the battle between puppy and grown-up human would end up with the latter winning after some time.
But even though Kyoya was already eighteen back then, he was from a different world void of any supernatural energies, so his constitution was kinda lacking. The husband was aware of it as of now.
"I see… So they are cleaning up the river not only for the clean water but also for the goddess…"
"Yes, there was also a woman in the past that had become stronger thanks to the blessing of the goddess of the river. She defended her home for many years, but then the dreams took over her and she settled out to become an adventurer. I wonder how she is doing…"
Her eyes turned to the side, peeking outside the window. It looked like Xiaoxiao was kinda jealous of such a lady. But who wouldn't be? A blessing is like being a chosen one. Of course, it is far weaker than being the chosen one, but still… Power is power. No matter what, such a blessing gives a better start compared to others who begin their path without any support.
"Xiaoxiao, I saw your technique is related to the flames. I would like to ask about the classification."
"Classification?"
Kyoya had levels, but when he heard his evaluation and learned about the achievements, the husband decided to upgrade his system as it would make things easier. It also would allow easier comparisons in the future.
That's why, Kyoya currently had his stats exposed, but the level was no longer in digits, but simply a letter and number of the floor. He was still a tad far from S, but he was more concerned about three S that would make him step onto the proper path. Still, he began upgrading his system, so everything should be upgraded.
That's why, before Kyoya gets enough achievements on the fourth floor, Kyoya had to learn about adventurer life and other important stuff. The classification was one of these.
"Ah, I get it. Before we get into the classification, let's speak about the concepts."
"Concepts?"
"Yes, please look at my spear."
The spear of Xiaoxiao was one of the common spears. A bronze shaft made from ordinary wood with a tip that couldn't look more regular at all. However, the tip shone with a red light that evoked supernatural vibes.
This tip was hot, ready to melt the opponents on its path!
"This is a concept of calm fire. A calm fire that doesn't destroy the weapon, but lends its power and might. Thanks to it, I don't have to change weapon due to fire, at least."
Properly grasped concepts help in various means. It's not only related to the strength but also when it comes to the weapon or even using the techniques outside of one's body! The concepts were useful back in the past for people that couldn't utilize the powers properly. However, when an already talented person separated his talent into concepts and sharpened it up one by one, the new and raw strength erupted out from his body.
This is where everyone began reaching out for the concepts.
"You can learn the concepts from others or search for new ones that are only naked to your eye! People commonly go for two ways as most concepts end up the same. If one would find a unique concept, then I don't think he would share it with others."
Xiaoxiao knew that Kyoya is not a believer of the fire-related god, but she still asked a question that easily shown how people reach for the concepts.
What do you see in a fire?
Looking at the fire, one would think about its destructive might to burn off everything on its path. It was the most common concept that made Xiaoxiao chuckle.
"That's what most people feel after looking at the fire. In my case, I had also a concept of calm fire."
Xiaoxiao didn't mind exposing her weak self. She spoke about her beginnings of an adventurer where she decided to pursue the strength. Back then, she was alone in the deciduous forest fighting against the floor monsters formerly known as monsters of origins.
It was one of the common paths that the village ladies could take if they wanted to grow up in strength. As the lady from the village, Xiaoxiao had the pleasure to attend various hunts, but it was her first, solo hunt.
"It was hard to hunt solo and I couldn't gather any meat… In such a pinch situation, I was very lucky to chop off the leg of the sharp-teeth boar. However, eating it raw would only give me more problems in the long term."
It's definitely bad to believe in various gods, but it is kinda acceptable for people from the lowest floors. Xiaoxiao was one of those people, so she didn't mind asking the goddess of fire for help.
She prayed for a small help or hope, but it turned out to be something more valuable! The tip of her spear lit up without notifying the surroundings. Not only Xiaoxiao didn't expose her location, she somehow could get stronger.
And the reason for that was because she wanted to cook a meal for herself!
"I also got a very embarrassing title - Spear Candle - that accompanied me through the first year of being adventurer… Ah, it's really embarrassing, but sometimes, I also get called like that even now…"
Xiaoxiao's head lowered a little from shame. She even blushed as she spoke about it inadvertently, inwardly blaming herself for that. Because the spear candle couldn't really bring much power when it comes to fighting stronger opponents than mere forest beasts. However, Kyoya didn't find it that shameful at all.
Everything has its beginnings.
Even a mere candle can bring a lot of fire if properly utilized.
"It is a cute nickname."
"Cute? Really? It is the first time someone called it cute."
"I feel like it can become even cuter. For example, if Xiaoxiao's hair could lit up like a candle, then your whole appearance would get a lot of charm points."
"Ahaha! That's way too hard, Kyoya. But I will also aim for that concept in the future!"
After Xiaoxiao's melodious laughter subsided, she properly peeked at Kyoya's eyes, then came back to the explanation.
"Because of the concepts, the classification of common techniques depends on these. For example, the flame spear needs two concepts, but it can be upgraded. For now, it is a level 2 technique, but I am using it prematurely with one concept, so it is level 1."
[Would you like to upgrade your system right now?]
[Yes.]
"Thank you, Xiaoxiao. Lately, I was thinking about my path as an adventurer. Apparently, it is wrong and I am not on SSS rank."
"But it is just the fourth floor for you, right? Sometimes, adventurers just lack more concepts or fate to reach SSS rank. I myself feel really nice with fire abilities, but thought about SSS rank had never entered my mind. I believe I need more confidence and concepts for it!"
"That might be true!"
"Also, one day you might step onto proper path inadvertently, so keep fighting!"
"Yeah! Keep fighting! Let's leave it for fate!"
Xiaoxiao and Kyoya laughed within the village head's house. Both of them ate and drunk so much while talking about the adventurer stuff that their bodies ended up going asleep in a very close position.
The husband's arm was extended to the side allowing Xiaoxiao to use it as a pillow. His other one was calmly resting on his hip which means that Kyoya was not even trying to reach for Xiaoxiao!
As for the orange-haired lady, her small hands were joined up as she kept them close to her face. It was rather an innocent sleeping posture that also didn't even aim for Kyoya. Their heads were close, but overall, it didn't look like both of them were aiming at each other. They just went asleep close to each other with the blankets covering their lower bodies. At first, the wall was their support, but they had somehow slipped down to sleep on the rough ground.
It's not like there weren't any beds in the village head's house.
An adventurer must be ready to sleep at any place!
Furthermore, Kyoya was also waiting for his wife, but it was not his fault she went mad and coaxed grandma to help her with a new recipe when the moon already hung itself far enough!
The next morning, the tremendous roar awakened the whole village and scared all chicken to the death...
