“P-please… spare me…”
With a crack, Treiseph put his weight on his foot, smashing the head of the person lying beneath him. His expression, usually as calm as a well-made plaster, was increasingly showing signs of irritation.
“Where is the next estate?”
After trying to pinpoint the location of the closest territory from where they currently were, Rebecca’s answer came quickly. “Pernel Estate. It’s west from here.”
“Alright.”
Wings spreading wide, Treiseph picked her up and took off into the sky. Rebecca tried her best not to look down. It had already been several days. They were searching for Yelena and combing through every territory, starting from the capital.
‘Please, let this time be different.’ Rebecca thought anxiously. It felt like Treiseph’s methods were becoming increasingly brutal with each territory they visited. Perhaps his impatience was starting to take a toll, and that rage might even extend to her. Rebecca nervously bit her lip. Soon, the castle of Pernel Estate came into view and Treiseph landed lightly on the castle wall.
“That’s what I’m saying! You should have seen it. Suddenly, there was a flash of light, and everyone dying was perfectly fine.”
“Hey, man.”
“Huh? What? Oh my god——-”
Hearing the soldiers chatting on the castle’s fortress, Treiseph smirked.
“I’ve finally come to the right place.”
“W-who? Who?”
“Identify yourself immediately———-”
Thud.
With a simple gesture from Treiseph, two of the soldiers’ heads flew off. The atmosphere on the castle walls turned chillingly cold as he opened his mouth, revealing sharp fangs.
“It’s hunting time.”
Yelena stared at her empty hands. Maybe it was her mood, but they seemed drier and rougher than usual. She clenched her fist tightly.
“I’ve used up all of my divine power.”
A moment ago, Yelena had saved a dying person on the courtyard using her divine power.
“Dina!”
“Dina, please wake up! Open your eyes!”
“Dina! Nooo!”
Ylena rushed to the courtyard, following the maid she met in front of her chamber. Dina was fading away right there.
“Ahhh! Dina———”
As if to show Dina how much she was loved by everyone, numerous people surrounded her ,crying. Yelena gazed at Dina, lying among the crowd while being covered in blood.
“It’s not my fault.” Far away from the wailing crowd, Noenza crouched, trembling and muttering. His teeth clattered continuously. “I just wanted to pick a few flowers. I never thought it would turn out like this, really…”
The situation she heard was like this: Pernel, the lord’s youngest son, Noenza Pernel, had insisted on going to the courtyard to pick some flowers despite warnings of danger. There, he encountered the monsters. The problem was that Dina, who had followed him out of concern, was with him.
“Young master, get away! Run!”
Dina was excessively kind. She pushed Noenza out of the way and took the attack of the monster’s fangs, tearing her abdomen. The wound was visibly deep.
“Dina, don’t die. You can’t die, please.”
“Open your eyes, Dina! Please, open your eyes. Aaaah!”
The armed knights, who seemed to have dealt with the monsters, stood with somber expressions. The doctor had given up, withdrawing his hands and stepping back. Yelena hesitated for a moment. She didn’t have much divine power left. However, her dilemma didn’t last long. The warmth of the milk in her cup still remained in her palm.
“Could you all step back for a moment?”
“Countess——-”
“Make way.”
Yelena pushed through the crowd and approached Dina. Then, she infused divine power into Dina’s fading soul. Miraculously, Dina’s condition improved to the point that it was hard to believe she was on the verge of death. Now, Yelena was left with nothing.
“There really isn’t even a handful left.” Her body was completely devoid of divine power. ‘Maybe it will recover with time, but…’
For now, it was empty, like a well dried to the bottom.
“You’re not unconscious.” Perhaps because she was already in a state where she couldn’t immediately recover her strength, Yelena remained conscious even after using divine power. In a complicated mood, Yelena clenched her fists and beside her, Aendydn looked at her, his arms folded as he murmured blankly, “I still can’t believe it.” Ever since he witnessed Yelena saving Dina in the courtyard, he had been in that state. “My friend had brought someone back from the dead——”
“She wasn’t dead yet. She was dying.”
Of course, there were times when Yelena had revived someone who was already dead.
“Anyway.” Aendydn’s eyes were filled with admiration that he couldn’t hide. “When did you start using divine power? Is it just recently?”
“That’s…”
To be honest, it was a bit of a long story. Yelena had only recently discovered her divine power, but the first time she displayed it was when she was kidnapped by Incan. Elena opened her mouth to speak.
That was when…
BOOM!
A loud noise shook the entire fortress.
