Chapter 4 - Gringotts II

Now that I know I'm rich I can do some investing. I may not know how the stock market works exactly but I know the names of the company's and people who will make me richer than the rich I am now. I can just give the information to my goblin account manager and sit back. The money will roll in and all I have to do is buy stock in the company's I know will succeed. No risk at all on my part. Just thinking about owning stock in Microsoft or Amazon is crazy. Maybe I should study how magic interferes with technology I can't go without an iPhone when they come out. Something to think about for later. As I was daydreaming about my billions Barrat left the room and came back with two small boxes.

"These are the heir rings for both Potter and Black lordsh.i.p.s. Put them on and if they accept you will be a confirmed heir. If they don't the rings will only accept you when everyone else in your family is dead." Barrat said and handed the boxes to me. Well I'll be the Potter heir for sure theirs none left but me, so let's hope the Black ring accepts me. I open the first box to reveal a gold ring with a lion etched onto each side of the ring and a red ruby in the center. Putting on the ring it sucks some of my magic and glows brightly.

"The Potter ring has accepted you congratulations." Rodrak said

"Thanks, now lets hope the Black rings qualifications aren't too high." I said staring at the box with the Black ring.

This damn ring better accept me or I'm melting it down and turning it into a b.u.t.t plug. Nothing will stand between me and my gold. Opening the box reveals a silver ring with a pitch-black gemstone and the words Toujours Pur etched into the sides which means Always Pure. I take the ring and put it on my other hand and it lights up in a dark blue color s.u.c.k.i.n.g a lot more of my magic than the Potter ring. Hopefully, it doesn't suck me dry of my magic and kill me. Can you even die from magic exhaustion? Is that the way magic works in this world?

I need to read some books after this. Waiting and hoping I don't die the ring stopped glowing and stayed on my finger. I guess it accepted me that was scary for a minute.

"Congratulations, now that your the heir of both Potter and Black lordsh.i.p.s you can enter the main vaults, manage businesses and use all property's. You have free reign to do whatever you want because their's no lord of either house to say no. You can become lord officially at the age of 14. Usually, heirs have to wait until their 18 for the current lord to hand over lordship. That is not the case for houses with no lord, so as to fill that spot faster the minimum age is lowered." Rodrak explained.

"That's convenient so I can do everything a lord can do?" I asked.

"Not quite the Potter and Black houses have a seat each on the Wizengamot. Those seats will stay vacant until you become the lord. There should be books on these things in either family library." Rodrak explained.

"Alright who is my account manager? I have some investments I'd like to go over." I asked.

"I'll appoint Barrat as the account manager for both vaults. It seems I'm no longer needed to proceed. Thank you for your service in ridding our bank of that disgusting cup. I wish you luck in any future dealings." Rodrak said and left. Barrat took his place and I gave him a list of things to invest in mainly muggle company's(1 Galleon=£5) and the Firebolt broom company. They don't come out with their broom until 1993 but it will destroy any Nimbus broom.

"I would like to know how I haven't ever received mail from the wizarding world. I'm going to need to receive updates on my investments. Also, I need the keys to all my vaults changed. I don't even have keys and who knows where they are." I said

"Well the mail has been forwarded to your magical guardian Albus Dumbledore, but now that your a confirmed heir that has been negated. As for the keys that is easily done I'll have new keys made and locks installed by the time you leave today." Barrat said

After that I went to my vaults and browsed before grabbing some pocket money and a few books and leaving the bank. As I was leaving director Rodrak came and gave me the Hufflepuff cup as thanks for helping the goblins. They removed the Horcrux and placed it into a pig which was then slaughtered.

As I left the bank it was starting to get dark and the streets were less crowded than they were previously. Before I left I got an address of an apartment I owned in central London. Well, I say apartment, but I own the whole building and the penthouse apartment at the top is reserved for the Potter family. Mimsy apparates us to my new home I take a seat on a sofa.

"Mimsy I need the elves to get me some more clothes like these for tomorrow. Fill the closet in the master bedroom with clothes for me. Also, I need some elves to visit all of my properties and clean them up no one has lived there for a while. Stay out of 12 Grimmauld Place we will go there together tomorrow. Be careful of the Black properties they were a dark family and probably have some nasty things in their homes. Anything like that found can be placed in the black vault separate from everything else." Mimsy nodded and popped off.

Now that I'm alone I could finally take a breather today has been a crazy day. I still have so much to do. I need to see Kreacher tomorrow and destroy the Horcrux in Slytherin's necklace. Before going to bed I take out a book on the Wizengamot. If I'm going to be a lord I better make sure I know what I'm doing.

The Wizengamot is comprised of lords of noble wizarding houses, the leader of the department of magical law enforcement(DMLE), and elected officials like the Minister for magic and Chief Warlock. Noble house seats are the only hereditary positions. The people with the most power in the Wizengamot are non-hereditary seats. The Chief Warlock presides over the Wizengamot, overseeing court procedures. The Minister for magic is the leader of the government and is ultimately responsible for the policy and decisions of the government. The head of the DMLE presided over criminal or disciplinary hearings like a judge.

Each noble house and any normally elected officials in the wizengamot get one vote, the Minister gets five, chief Warlock gets three, the head of the DMLE gets two. When something is brought before the wizengamot it is usually decided on by a vote. I will have two votes because I'm heir to two houses. The Wizengamot is split into three party's Dark, Light, and Grey. The dark follow Lucius Malfoy, the Light follow Albus Dumbledore, and grey was lead by Gareth Greengrass. That's enough reading for today, time to sleep.
