“It’s like a map of this island.”
At Diego’s words, Yuanna nodded her head and spread the cloth open wide.
There is a river flowing in the middle of a large island, and a star is drawn at the northwest end of the river. Not only that, there’s a word written in the language of the Langridge Empire, ‘Supply’, all over the island.
“What is this star? And supply? What’s this?”
At Yuanna’s question, both Kayden and Diego shook their heads.
As she glanced over the map again, she murmured, “Well…… if this is really a map of this island, I think I picked up something very important. But I don’t know why it’s here.”
Kayden, standing next to her and looking closely at the map, tilted his head.
“Who the hell made this map?”
“Is that the same person who built the hut? Either someone lived on this island, or still lives…… otherwise, it’s the person who brought us to this island.”
Because Yuanna’s reasoning was plausible, Kayden nodded vigorously.
“It could be right.”
Then he took out the map Margaret had drawn from his pocket.
“What is that?”
“Oh, the map Margaret drew.”
He answered Diego’s question dryly and compared it with the map in Yuanna’s hand.
“What, she drew it pretty accurately, didn’t she?”
Margaret said that she saw it from the top of the mountain and drew it herself, and the topography was surprisingly similar to the map Yuanna picked up a while ago.
Of course, unlike this map, which is marked with various symbols, Margaret’s had no information other than topography.
“Someone must have dropped the key and the map here?”
Yuanna took the key out of her pocket and stared at it, pensive in her thoughts.
“Don’t you remember anything more?”
At Kayden’s question, she shook her head.
“No, I just woke up and found a key by my side.”
“This doesn’t look like a particularly meaningful place. Nothing special.”
At the very least, there was no sign of a monster attack. It didn’t look like someone accidentally dropped it while running away.
Kayden carefully circled Yuanna and tried to think, but there was no answer.
Diego, who was looking at the map Yuanna had picked up, asked with a curious look, “Isn’t this a bridge? I don’t think it’s far from here.”
Kayden and Yuanna, who were both looking at each other in thought, gathered in front of the map in Diego’s hand.
As he said, in the middle of the map, there’s a picture of a bridge connecting the South Island and the North Island.
“Oh, that’s right. I didn’t see this because I was just looking at the supply mark.”
As Yuanna murmured, Diego asked, pointing in the east direction. “Saintess, do you see that over there?”
Following Yuanna, Kayden turned his head in the direction Diego was pointing. It was very far away, but at first glance, it looked like a bridge.
“Isn’t that like a bridge to the North Island?”
They all walked slowly towards the bridge.
“I wonder who else built that bridge. Was it the same person who built the hut?”
At Diego’s question, Kayden and Yuanna shrugged their shoulders at the same time.
“Looking at the map, I think this is the middle point. Maybe someone built a bridge here because you have to go all the way to the east end to move to the North Island.”
Kayden agreed with Yuanna’s words.
“I think so, too. By the way, what’s on the North Island? Why would someone build a bridge to go there?”
“There is a place on the North Island where it’s written ‘Supply’ too. The star mark is also on the North Island. Maybe that’s why?”
Kayden, who was carefully looking at the bridge while listening to Yuanna, turned to Diego.
“Would you like to cross over?”
“The width is narrow, so I think we need to cross one by one.”
“So, Sir Diego, why don’t you go first?”
“Am I an experimental subject?”
“It’s not like that. You know I hate the word experiment.”
“No matter what it is, I will refuse.”
Diego refused with a straight face and then kept his mouth shut.
Kayden, who was still looking at his face, crossed his arms and leaned his head back, sighing.
“Haa, you are no fun, unlike the Archbishop.”
At Kayden’s murmuring, Diego turned to him with a look of disgust.
“Are you a pervert?”
“It’s true that you are no fun, but why are you treating me like a pervert?”
“I called you a pervert because you seem to find pleasure in harassing people.”
“Oh, that’s quite funny.”
“See, you’re a pervert.”
“Are you my doctor or what? I’m not a pervert, I’m a madman.”
Diego once again cast a contemptuous look at Kayden. Then Kayden burst out laughing like a real madman.
As Diego put his hand on his scabbard with a slightly fierce expression on his face, Yuanna clapped to get their attention.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to cross the bridge now. We’re a lot later than the date we were supposed to be back, right?”
Both men nodded their heads in agreement.
The bridge looks so old and unstable, and so narrow that only one person can pass at a time.
“Then I think it would be better to tell the news to those waiting in the cabin first and then come back here together.”
In response to Diego’s reply, Yuanna raised her thumb.
“That’s it.”
Kayden followed Yuanna and raised his double thumbs toward Diego.
“Good idea.”
Before leaving for the cabin, Kayden made a request to Yuanna and Diego. “Maybe the Tentathionem flower will also multiply as we pass by and increase the population? They reproduce like crazy when they reach human body temperature. So you better run on the way back.”
Yuanna and Diego nodded their heads vigorously with determined faces.
They ran all day, past the Tentathionem flowers, and had a few hurdles, but luckily they survived.
And at night, they climbed up on a giant tree branch, tied themselves to the branch, and went to sleep. After a couple of difficult days, the three finally returned to the cabin.
***
Enoch is preparing dinner, and Ruzef is sleeping. Eunji is also sleeping after eating Tentathionem. Lying in front of the fire, I patted his belly.
After eating Tentathionem, he has grown bigger and is long enough to wrap around one arm of mine.
‘Will your cuteness also disappear?’
I stared at the sleeping Eunji. Even when he’s asleep, he’s wagging his tail gently as if he likes my pat.
‘Cutie.’
A smile spread across my lips. Meanwhile, Arthdal slowly approached me.
“Young Lady, give me your hand for a second. I’d like to use some of your mana.”
“Why?”
“Something is ominous.”
What do you mean ominous?
Arthdal used to predict things with his five senses, even when he wasn’t using mana. So if he felt something, maybe something really happened.
I gently held out my ringed hand to him. His blue eyes sparkled green as he took my hand.
I could feel the flow of mana running through my fingertips. I was quietly injecting mana into Arthdal without much effort, and he suddenly looked at me.
“When the excursion members arrive, it would be better to leave immediately.”
“Why? What did you see?”
“The monster’s movements are strange. It’s like they’re all headed to this cabin.”
“But they can’t get into this cabin anyway.”
Because there is a barrier around the cabin.
“Still, I got a bad feeling about this. Shouldn’t we be leaving anyway? To find the secret of the island.”
Arthdal is right. We’ve decided to tour the whole island. I’m not going to spend the rest of my life in a cabin either.
I answered yes and raised my head.
After preparing the meal, Enoch wiped the stone knife with a dry cloth and said, “If that’s the flow of mana you’ve seen, then you’re right. When the others come back, it’ll be a good idea to clean up this place.”
It was a line that proved that he believed in Arthdal’s ability.
Anyway, we finally agreed to leave the cabin and roughly packed our necessities.
‘Kayden should come back safely quickly.’
When Kayden comes, I want to test my mana. He is a wizard who uses his own mana, so maybe there is more synergy?
As I was thinking about Kayden for a while, like a ghost[1], Kayden’s voice rang in my ears.
[1] Appeared suddenly.
“Huh? You’re all very relaxed, aren’t you?”
I hastily turned toward the voice. The door opened and Kayden, Yuanna, and Diego entered in turn.
“You are all safe!”
I jumped out of my seat and ran to them. After examining Kayden’s condition, I also checked the condition of Yuanna and Diego.
Fortunately, no one appeared to be injured.
“Are you all okay?”
Hearing my question, Kayden’s face distorted greatly.
