The fluttering red shards that shattered from the sky reminded Seoyeon of the snow, the red snow where it had been the end for Haneul's life. Ironically now they had killed her killer.
Seoyeon hand in hand walked together with Jung Hwa toward the lump of red shatter pieces. There she saw how the Mistress was no more. The woman who had caused so many suffering around them had finally died.
Everything had ended but not by no cost. There was lives lost, tears shed, and blood spilled to the ground. Seoyeon could feel the burden on her shoulders lifted and at the same time a warm weigh her shoulder.
Turning her head, Seoyeon saw the smile on Jung Hwa's lips, "We have ended it all."
"Thank you," Seoyeon said, "On behalf of Haneul and for being beside me here. I can't never do this if it wasn't for your help."
"Oh geez," Jung Hwa leaned his forehead over her head, chuckling faintly as he said, "The words thank you is not necessary. I have only helped my other half and instead of thank you, I would like to hear another magic word."
Seoyeon smiled while looking at him. Taking three steps back, she then reached out her hand to wreathed them around Jung Hwa's shoulders, "I love you. Very. Very much," and standing on her tip toes, Seoyeon leaned forward to press her lips over his.
Jung Hwa had a grin on his lips before it disappear as he responded to Seoyeon's kiss with a much passion and deeper one.
With the hours that passed like eternity, bodies was delivered and shifted from the rubbles. While they had won it wasn't without cost. The lives that was lost cannot be retrieved, however, with their action, they had protected many more lives from the hands of the Mistress.
Seoyeon saw Yeseul and Lee Young as she got out of the place. There, Lee Young seemed troubled while watching Yeseul who was in tears.
When both her and Jung Hwa came Lee Young shook his head, "She is overwhelmed by all that had happened. It will take her a while to recover herself. Seeing that all which had been happening, the clouds feels lighter now."
"That is called burden have been lifted, Lee Young," answered Jung Hwa after shifting back his gaze from Yeseul to his granduncle. "What did you two found inside the mansion? You were perturbed earlier."
"It was the log and results of the Mistress's experiments. Her experiments to resurrect the dead possibly Madam Yoo In-Joo, but it was all unsuccessful, resulting in her creating such terrible and gruesome monsters. As. Scientist and a doctor myself, I can't wrap my mind in what she is trying to achieve. Is it true that the dead can be resurrected, Seoyeon?"
Haneul wasn't inside her mind but Seoyeon who had seen through Haneul's past knew the answer. "No. In order to resurrect the dead it is not rituals or life sacrifices that we need. And those whose soul have completely can never be brought back."
"I'm not sure if I understand that," Lee Young pointed curiously.
Seoyeon saw her explanation was unclear and replied, "The reason why Haneul hadn't immediately brought back either Yeseul, Min Hyuk, or JaeGil from death is because she cannot. What she had done was simply to restore the memories of the people who was close to her at the time."
"Which mean the reincarnation is not her doing?" Lee Young was taken aback as he had thought it was Haneul's ability that had caused Yeseul to resurrect over and over again.
"It isn't. Everyone is reincarnated with the cycle of life. Haneul had no hands in it," Seoyeon explained. "If one want to bring back the dead there is only one and under one circumstance which is for the soul to not cross the border of death. If that happened, another person had to cross the abyss to bring back the soul."
"It sounds like a tough work," Lee Young hummed, "And only a few could do that."
Seoyeon noddd her head. While others thought Haneul was strong, they often exaggerate her power. Such as bringing the dead to life which was impossible. At first Seoyeon had thought so too with the rumors of the enormous power the catalyst had. She then comprehend the scope had been enlarged and that truth wasn't that magnitude.
Lee Young and Jung Hwa discussed what they need to do to cover the incident as the humans aren't aware of their being when suddenly she felt her heart ache.
An indescribable pain started from her heart and it felt she had been squeezed. The tingling feel followed which was uncomfortable when at once finally the pain disappeared. A lone tears glide from under her eyes, trailing on the left side of her eyes.
Jung Hwa was surprised seeing this and he quickly come to her side. One hand placed on her shoulders, "What's wrong? Did you hurt yourself?"
Seoyeon shook her head, she pursed her lips when finally all the pain left her heart. Leaving her with simply a lonely and vacant emotion, making her empty all over even though there was joy in her heart a moment ago.
"Haneul..." Seoyeon started when at the same time Gu Manyeong walked toward their side. His expression was as sorrowful as Seoyeon and it didn't take long for Jung Hwa to understand what had happened.
"She has disappeared."
Jung Hwa nodded his head. Wrapping his hand over the back of Seoyeon's head, she brought her to cry in his shoulders. Haneul might arguably be the reason for them to go through such pain and hurdle. But Seoyeon never blamed the woman as they were simply the victim of greedy people.
Seoyeon didn't know Haneul for long but seeing her past, she had felt that they had shared a bond like no others. Similar to sisterhood. Knowing Haneul had disappeared saddened her especially as she had left once her responsibilities had ended.
"Don't worry," Jung Hwa whispered against her ears, "I am certain she is now in a better place, much better than before."
