The next morning, right after Yi Fei and NaNa entered his car, Wu Chen handed over a lunch box each to them.
The lunch boxes had a stainless steel interior, and it was 2-tier insulated leak-proof food container storage. It even came with insulated carrier bag and cutlery. It looked elegant.
The lunch boxes were especially eye-catching because of the bright pink colour, and it was so big that NaNa felt embarrassed to bring together with her.
"The colour is so bright, even nearsighted person could see this lunch box from far away" For some reason, NaNa regretted that she told Wu Chen about Bai Jing Ting giving sandwiches and milk pack to Yi Fei as her breakfast.
NaNa thought that if she kept it to herself, she wouldn't have to experience such embarrassing kindness from her brother.
On the other hand, Yi Fei was so happy because the lunch box was big and in pink; pink was one of her favourite colours. She kept on blurting some Japanese words. "Yay, kawaii obento".
Wu Chen thought that Yi Fei was so cute when she spoke the Japanese words; even though he didn't understand it. He felt that it must mean good because of how happy Yi Fei was when she held the lunch box on her lap.
Wu Chen thought that Yi Fei looked so much like a child at the moment.
Even NaNa who was previously embarrassed by the lunch box felt entertained by Yi Fei's innocent excitement over a simple lunch box. The enthusiasm made NaNa thought that the lunch box might not be a bad idea after all.
Yi Fei held the lunch box firmly on her lap. She couldn't wait to see what's inside the box, so she peeked into hers.
Upon seeing the sandwiches and salad inside the box, Yi Fei was quite disappointed, and the disappointment was written all over her face. Yi Fei didn't mean to be rude or ungrateful, but when she received the lunch box, she had a certain expectation of what a lunch box should be.
Yi Fei expected that the food in the lunch box would be something like what Sanji made for his Nakama in the anime One Piece. Maybe it was too ambitious for Yi Fei to have such expectation in real life.
"What's wrong?" Wu Chen could read the disappointment on Yi Fei's face because it was too obvious to be ignored.
Yi Fei shook her head, she was trying to hide her disappointment, but it's too late. Wu Chen had seen it on her face.
The silent NaNa who was sitting alone as the third wheel at the backseat suddenly let out a loud laugh. She could probably guess the reason why Yi Fei was disappointed. Wu Chen looked at NaNa from the day mirror; probing her to explain further.
"You couldn't possibly think that the food inside your lunch box is the same as the one in the anime right?" NaNa was asking while laughing.
"I didn't" Yi Fei denied ardently, but Wu Chen knew that it must be the case.
Yi Fei assured Wu Chen that she didn't think of anything else and that, she was delighted with the food inside the lunch box. Yi Fei told Wu Chen that she was especially happy because there were a lot of sandwiches in the box that it would last her for breakfast, lunch and until the end of her work hours.
Wu Chen was slightly disappointed, but when he saw how eager Yi Fei tried to appease him, he felt better.
Like the previous day, Bai Jing Ting would wait for Yi Fei in the parking lot. He will wait until Wu Chen was gone and then only he will go out from his car to walk together with Yi Fei while giving her the sandwich and milk pack for breakfast.
But today was destined to be the day where he will face disappointment in his life.
Upon seeing the bright pink lunch box on Yi Fei's hand, he left the sandwich he brought with him in his car because it meant nothing for Yi Fei at the moment that must had a lot of food in her lunch box. Bai Jing Ting knew that Wu Chen must be the one who gave the lunch box to Yi Fei.
All three of them, Yi Fei, NaNa and Bai Jing Ting, walked towards the staffroom. They were not aware that two persons were watching them; one was a male, and the other one was a female.
"Do you think that he will give up on her after this?" The male spectator asked the female spectator.
The female spectator didn't say anything. She looked at her bandaged hand. She shouldn't carelessly hurt herself over a trivial thing such as jealousy. She needed to pull herself together; she needed to be stronger.
"Are you waiting for his feeling towards her to fall apart while you complain and sulk? Just how long will you be waiting for him?" The male spectator asked another question.
"Just what do you like about him? What is it about him that made you hurt this much?"
So much for trying to be stronger, the questions from the male spectator tugged at her heartstrings. With tears threatening to fall, the female spectator gave the male spectator a sad look.
"I don't know… If my love for him was genuine, I should be able to wish for his happiness… But I couldn't…" The female spectator couldn't hold her tears and started weeping on the spot.
"Don't cry. You'll ruin your makeup" The male spectator wiped the tears from the female spectator's cheek.
With a determined face and full of seriousness in his voice, the male spectator asked:
"Should I make her disappear from your way?"
