"Sofie, thanks for the hard work."
After pulling the car door closed, the actress asked, "Where do we go next? Omega Studio?"
Stepping on the gas to drive the car back to the lane, Miss Julia answered, "Sofie, the case is, the CEO's assistant phoned me while you are at the set, informing me that there will be a delay in the shooting of the advertisement. Our CEO has called a sudden meeting with all the subsidiaries of the Silvers. The Jewelry branch which contracted Omega studio is one of them. Actually, you are also asked to return."
"The CEO?"
Sofia's face showed great disbelief as though what she heard was very shocking. The next second though, a very wide smile appeared on it, reminding the older woman of a child promised by her parents to go to an amusement park. "I-I am asked to attend it? O-or to see her? Y-you sure it's really me?"
The extreme happiness emanating from the expression and voice of the beautiful black-haired woman stunned the manager for quite some time. For a few seconds, she doubted whether the person at the backseat was really the always cool-headed and professional Sofia Mendoza. Shortly, her bewildered expression turned into a weird one, recalling one of the few pieces of information about Sofia known only by very few people.
'It's been so long, she's still a crazy fanatic of that scary lass?'
The manager absolutely had no clue what it meant for people like Sofia to receive even the least bit of attention from their Originals.
As beings created by and for their Originals, receiving even a glance was already a big honor for them. Even Clarissa, despite hers being an indifferent, utilitarian host, still held hers in very high esteem, treating the sole item she received from her as a very precious treasure. Sofia was like that too, if not worse given the fact that she was someone allowed by her creator to be at close proximity.
Every time she was given opportunities to do a favor for the other, she felt like her fleeting existence had a purpose. Chance meetings too were also very cherished moments. In reality, what people like her truly held for their Originals was not only crazy fanaticism but intense devotion, the kind which would make them choose death over giving their Originals even the slightest of troubles.
"M-Miss Julia, hurry up then. I would have to spend some time in the powder room to make sure I'm at my most presentable!"
Bewildered, the manager subconsciously blurted out, "...Aren't you already looking like a goddess?"
"N-no! I'm not. I think I sweated a bit inside. Gotta to do something about that! I-I can't look or smell weird while in her great presence!"
Perhaps, this was one of the effects of Sofia's own devotion.
She felt happy but at the same time, nervous, as if the one she would be meeting was a true divine being.
Truth be told, the reason she silenced that annoying Greg yesterday was that he threatened to stain, or worse, kill her career, which was something very unforgivable for her!
She couldn't afford even a single scandal because that would spell going low key and not regularly going to the company building. For her, that was a scary possibility. It would mean fewer chances of being near her Original! Of course, she couldn't allow that to happen. Thus, she didn't even hesitate once to make him taste her self-purchased 'medicine', no consideration whatsoever upon the passionate and sinful nights they spent together long ago.
It might be a very warped logic. But so what? 'She' wanted her to be at a close range. Everyone who would try to do her Official Host 137 even the littlest of harm or inconvenience doesn't deserve to live! Those who also have intentions to interfere with 'her' arrangements should die too!
It was that simple.
"So, Miss Julia, may I know if the assistant told you anything about why our beautiful CEO wants to hold a meeting?" carefully asked by Sofia after regaining her usual calmness.
The manager shook her head. "No. He didn't. Sir George only said to inform you that it will be an hour from now on. It will be after the conference. Just enough time for us to arrive there. If I may say though, I think it has something to do with Miss Amelia. Perhaps another friendly competition? Or maybe about the launch of another clothing or jewelry line?"
"I see," the girl's silent response. Deep inside though, she could barely restrain the excitement welling up from there.
It had been almost a year. She was so happy that she'd be meeting her again!
...
"Why are you here?"
Mild irritation crept up in Sofie's face as she glared at the young man who appeared beside a black-haired hazel-eyed beautiful woman.
It was in the hallway leading to Starlight's CEO's office which was currently owned by Sofony Silver, well-known princess of the Silver Corp and also the CEO and the largest shareholder of Starlight Entertainment.
The young man had dressed quite smartly in a sky blue button up dress shirt underneath his creamy coffee colored knitted blazer. He paired it with a dark blue denim and white sports shoes though, unfortunately killing the sophisticated impression of his upper garment. His looks which had matured incredibly in the past three years, of course, salvaged the get-up, but unfortunately, in Sofia's eyes, he was still no different from a buffoon.
Without stopping his strides, he boredly replied, "You're asking why I have to be here? Beats me, I dunno. Why don't you redirect your question to whoever called me up here?"
Sofia snorted at his 'do you dare though' stare, looking extremely pissed. She hated his disrespectful and casual attitude towards her Original. Even though she was okay laughing at the thought of her 'friend' going crazy over this man, yet every time they crossed paths, she never failed to wish him dead. He was that much of an eyesore for her.
She couldn't help but ask the system.
'Why can't he just die?'
It burst into mad laughter before answering.
If she could, why wouldn't she?
'I hate him. For a mere half-host, he's so full of himself. Didn't he know if it's not for her, he would have long met his Creator?'
The black-haired, black-eyed actress was now sporting a smiling face after that brief show of annoyance. However, even the hazel-eyed woman walking side by side Chris felt the murderous intention Sofia was having against the young man. It was actually intense, making the woman feel somewhat worried.
Laughing nervously, Alessa Morgan spoke to Sofia in an attempt to lighten up the atmosphere among them.
"Good day, Miss Mendoza. It's nice meeting you here."
Like the seasoned actress that Sofia was, the scary expression on her face vanished within a second, replaced by friendliness only directed towards the other woman.
"Likewise, Miss Morgan. Congratulations on securing the female lead role for Director Lee's new movie. It's such an enviable accomplishment even for me."
"Oh? The famous Sofia must be kidding. You don't care about such little accomplishments." A matter of fact said by Chris. The woman clearly knew that he was implying she could do anything if she really wants something. That the only reason she didn't yet was that her devotion didn't really lean towards acting.
She laughed, hiding the coldness underneath. "I'm not you," 'Chris Bastard.' Omitting the latter, she sarcastically added, "Nothing's already out of reach for the youngest king of the entertainment industry, Mr. Meyer, the man who blackmailed his way to where he's currently now."
The man being taunted kept his poker face, bluntly asking, "What a malicious denunciation. Do you have any evidence?"
She once again sneered. Where would she get that when this information was only available to immoral hosts like them?
"You don't? If so, then stop randomly accusing people. Especially when there are others around, witnessing you making a fool out of yourself."
The young man's eyes also said that he would have spoken stuff about her own 'glorious' history were it not for his consideration of her gender and reputation.
After all, he was well aware of what deeds Sofia had committed just to get to the top fast and earn points while at it.
This was probably why Chris didn't like her. While he used his abilities to weed out cancerous people in the society, she used hers for the mindless purpose of collecting points to be offered to her Original. Sofony knew about this too but didn't say anything. Perhaps, this was what caused him to retain his slightly unfriendly attitude towards the woman.
Sofia rolled her eyes at the man, choosing not to argue anymore.
Meanwhile, to make sure no complication would arise due to their conversation, Chris hypnotized Alessa to forget what she heard along the way to the office. He irritatedly did it by himself since he didn't dare risk his acquaintance's brain to Sofia's skill. Who knows if the unreasonable woman would take revenge against him through the person who initially introduced him to the field?
