836 Mysterious Black Shadow

The battle was almost completely one-sided. Every other minute, Yun Pengqing and Wang He were being injured. Mei Yixuan and Qi Hang were also on the brink of death. Against a power several times that of their own, it was almost impossible to resist.

A black-robed man walked towards Mo Wen and Wan'er, clearly about to kill the three small fry. Among the Five Tigers Sect, they would undoubtedly be the easiest to deal with.

Mo Wen lowered his gaze slightly, and a golden light flashed in his eyes. No one noticed a black light fly out of the medicine spiritual ring on his finger. The black light disappeared in a flash, hiding in the forest.

At the same time, the black-robed man appeared in front of Mo Wen. His expression was hideous, and Mo Wen could smell the stench of blood emanating from him.

Mo Wen did not even look at the black-robed man. His expression was totally calm, as though he was not on a battlefield but was instead enjoying the scenery in the mountains.

The black-robed man was stunned when he saw this. Could it be that this youth was not afraid of dying? Was it possible to be this calm when facing death? The black-robed man was a little disappointed. He wanted to see fear on the faces of his victims before they died.

Just as these thoughts were going through the black-robed man's mind, a beam of black light shot out from the forest. Its speed was like a meteor as it crashed straight into his body. The expression on his face froze instantly, and his body stood stiffly on his spot, shattering inch by inch and turning into dust.

A silhouette appeared before Mo Wen. It was a black shadow that was covered from head to toe in a cloak. It wore a bamboo hat on its head and was wrapped up tightly; even its eyes could not be seen. The black-robed man had been turned to dust by this person wearing a straw cape and bamboo hat.

One would normally be sent flying backward after an attack, but the black-robed had instead been instantly turned to dust. It was obvious how frightening the power of the attack must have been.

Once the black shadow appeared, its body emanated an unparalleled frightening aura. The aura instantly covered the entire forest. The temperature in the forest suddenly dropped, and the ground was instantly covered in a layer of frost.

Mei Yixuan could not help but shiver from the cold. She looked at the black shadow with a look of astonishment. She discovered that under the aura of the black shadow, she could not move at all. There seemed to be an invisible wall forcefully pressing her down on her original spot.

All of the black-robed men were also fixed in position. Even the few Embryonic Breathing Realm ancient martial art practitioners on the field instantly ceased fighting. They all stood completely still, their faces pale, and they did not dare to even try to move. They all looked frantically at the black shadow with astonished gazes.

The power the shadow was giving off was terrifying. It was as though they had encountered a wild beast, and they had all instantly become docile rabbits.

The black shadow pointed at the sky, and a formless swirl appeared in mid-air. The swirl had just appeared when the Blue Silk Cloud Net that enveloped the sky above began to tremble violently as though it was being pulled by some power. It suddenly shrank and was dragged into the swirl.

The swirl gradually disappeared and the Blue Silk Cloud Net flew into the hands of the black shadow.

Ptui!

Cheng Zongping furiously spat out a mouthful of fresh blood. His face had turned completely white, as though he had fallen seriously ill. The Blue Silk Cloud Net was controlled by him. Now that it had been forcefully taken away by someone else, he was seriously injured from the recoil.

"Who are you exactly? Why are you making things difficult for our Baili Sect?" Cheng Zongping wiped away the bloodstain from the corner of his mouth. His heart was trembling. He could not imagine what sort of cultivation the person had. It was extremely alarming.

"Get lost! Otherwise, you will die."

One could not tell whether the black shadow was a male or a female based on its voice. Its voice was rather peculiar, as though a machine was speaking. It slowly extended a hand and made a pressing down gesture in the air. A loud sound thundered. The ground within a radius of five hundred meters suddenly collapsed, stirring up dust and causing a large number of trees to collapse. A destructive force swept through the place.

The black-robed men from the Baili Sect were all terrified. They felt as though death had passed by them. This black shadow was so horrifying that it was beyond their imagination. Just now, its force had been directed at the ground instead of at them. If it targeted them, all of them would most likely die in an instant as their bodies exploded.

The black-robed men from Baili Sect looked at each other, so shocked that they could not even speak. Where had this berserker come from?

"Retreat!"

Cheng Zongping clenched his teeth and ran away as quickly as he could. The opponent clearly had no intention to kill them. If it had wanted to kill them, they would probably have been dead by now. He could not guarantee whether he could still make it back alive if he chose to stay any longer.

The black-robed men had appeared out of the blue, and they left without a trace. In the blink of an eye, they had all disappeared. None of them dared to ask the black shadow to return the Blue Silk Cloud Net. No matter how precious an item was, it was not as precious as their own lives.

Yun Pengqing, Wang He, and other Five Tigers Sect members were stunned. They had trouble getting their heads around what had just happened. The tables had turned way too quickly.

Everyone from the Baili Sect had taken to their heels only a few seconds after this black shadow had appeared. Besides, everyone could tell that this black shadow was clearly helping the members of the Five Tigers Sect.

"Senior…" Yun Pengqing took a step forward and bowed. He was just about to speak when he noticed that the black shadow had disappeared. In an instant, it had left without a trace.

The blue silk net was on the ground, indicating that what happened just now was not an illusion.

"Older Brother Yun, do you know who that senior was?" Wang He stared at Yun Pengqing quizzically. Just now, the mysterious shadow had clearly saved them. However, he could not figure out who that person was. Since when had the Five Tigers Sect been acquainted with such a terrifying figure?

"I don't know him. This is odd." Yun Pengqing shook his head. The mysterious figure had been terrifyingly powerful. He could not figure out how high his cultivation was at all. Similarly, he could not understand why the mysterious man had saved them. The Five Tigers Sect was not strong or renowned enough to be helped by someone so powerful.

Mei Yixuan and Qi Hang stared at each other. They were speechless for a long while and had no clue about what had just happened. Wan'er and Wang Qian were also in a daze. They had suddenly escaped from danger in the most mysterious way.

Mo Wen looked up. The golden light in his eyes had disappeared.

The black shadow that had saved them all was the Black Gold Puppet that Mo Wen had stored in his medicine spiritual ring. The Black Gold Puppet had a combat ability that was akin to that of a Martial Arts Grandmaster. Besides, it had pure spiritual energy and could wield spiritual treasures as it wished. Its combat ability was above that of an ordinary first realm Martial Arts Grandmaster.

"We will talk about this later. Let's get back to the sect quickly," Yun Pengqing said decisively. They could not stay here for long. It was impossible to tell whether any other parties might be after them.

With a wave of his hand, the Blue Silk Cloud Net flew into his hand. The Blue Silk Cloud Net was an important treasure—a legendary spiritual weapon. Just now, instead of taking the net, the mysterious man had left it to them.

Wang He stared at the Blue Silk Cloud Net with a complicated gaze. He felt like they had hit the jackpot. Not only had they survived, but they had also acquired an important treasure.

The team started moving again, heading straight back to the Five Tigers Sect. Once they reached the sect, Yun Pengqing ordered them not to utter a word about what happened today. Then, he went to the main hall of the sect with Wang He.

For Mo Wen, this incident was merely an interlude. His life returned to normal again, with him healing quietly.

Wan'er and Wang Qian's lives also returned to normal.

Two days later, Mo Wen went to the branch of the Huatian Palace again and received ten Dragon City Talismans from Lu Chuan.

The Martial Arts Circle Convention was approaching and Mo Wen's injuries were getting better. He decided to leave the Five Tigers Sect and look for a secluded place to complete the final part of his treatment.

The treatment method was risky, and he could not be disturbed by anyone. He planned to find a cave hidden deep in the mountains and stay there until the day before the Martial Arts Circle Convention.

One morning, Wan'er woke up early to get ready. Even though now she no longer needed to gather medicinal herbs every day, she still woke early.

"Huh? What's that?"

Suddenly, she noticed that something was pinned on the table. As she approached the table curiously, she saw two shiny sheets of silver paper placed under a small rock. There were many exquisite patterns printed on the rectangular-shaped pieces of paper. There even seemed to be a few mysterious runes leaping on and off them.

She thought her eyes had deceived her; however, upon taking a closer look, there were still runes visible on the paper. Clearly she was not hallucinating.

She lifted up the two pieces of paper curiously and two calligraphic characters appeared before her.

Dragon City!

"Could these be the legendary Dragon City Talismans?"

Wan'er's eyes were wide open as she stared at the talismans in her hands in disbelief. Even though she had never seen a Dragon City Talisman before, she had heard about them from others.

"Sister Wang Qian, quickly get up. Get up quickly!"

Wan'er dashed to Wang Qian's bedside and tried to wake her by pulling her arm.

"Wan'er, what are you doing? Why are you disturbing my sleep so early in the morning? Let me sleep for a little while longer…" Wang Qian said in a daze, her eyes still half-shut.

"Sister Wang Qian, I have discovered two Dragon City Talismans. Quick, have a look and tell me whether I am right," Wan'er shouted into Wang Qian's ear.

"What?!"

Wang Qian was instantly wide awake. She got up from her bed nimbly, taking the silver talismans from Wan'er's hand. Only after she had examined the papers closely a few times did she ask with a trembling voice, "Wan'er, where did you get these?"

Wang Qian's hand, which was holding the Dragon City Talismans, was shaking continuously. Her body shivered uncontrollably too. These were the Dragon City Talismans which could cause countless bloodshed in the martial arts circle! And there were two of them!

"They were placed on our table. I noticed them when I woke up. I have no idea where they came from. Are they really Dragon City Talismans?" Wan'er asked curiously.

"I am certain of it. I have seen a sample of the Dragon City Talisman." Wang Qian nodded her head conclusively.

"Why would these appear on our desk?" Wang Qian felt that there were more and more bizarre things happening around her recently. Why would the Dragon City Talismans suddenly appear in their house? Such a free lunch had actually fallen into their hands!

"Sister Wang Qian, I feel like someone might have given these to us as a present. Look, there are two Dragon City Talismans. Doesn't it mean that each of us gets one?" Wan'er said, analyzing the situation.

Nothing more, nothing less. There were exactly two Dragon City Talismans. The meaning of it was obvious.
