Chapter 1037 - Blood River Patriarch

A resplendent blood light was coming off of Gu Jingman and her fighting spirit was becoming richer and more intense—as if a ball of flames was preparing to burn down heaven and the earth.A resplendent blood light was coming off of Gu Jingman and her fighting spirit was becoming richer and more intense—as if a ball of flames was preparing to burn down heaven and the earth.

The blood-colored spear morphed into a red dot and pierced right into Old Man Xuan You’s eyebrows. An unrivaled amount of strength burst forth—one so strong it was as if it could create a cave in his head.

“A strong horse, huh. That’s good, I love taming strong horses like you.”

Old Man Xuan You chuckled darkly. He was happy and not angered. A desire to conquer rapidly grew in his chest. Indeed, there was a great sense of achievement that came from conquering a woman like this, and he was confident enough that he could tame even a steed as fierce as this one and turn it into a foal.

A red beam flew over, quick as lightning, and Old Man Xuan You chuckled derisively. He reached out a dry claw in preparation to grab that blood-colored spear.

He managed to grab the blood-colored spear, but a terrifying power caused a bout of light tremors to run through his body, and his hand released the spear subconsciously. White smoke rose from Old Man Xuan You, blurring the blood and flesh in his shriveled hand. His flesh had seemed to rot off.

“How interesting!”

Old Man Xuan You squinted—to think the woman was capable of hurting him. Although it was only a surface wound, it was still rather unbelievable. A mere cultivator at the great achievement of Tide Changing was able to wound him—he had never encountered something like this in his life. It was likely no one would believe if he told them that had happened.

The Supreme Profundity Realm was a watershed, far stronger than the Tide Changing Realm. Cross-level challenges between the Tide Changing Realm and the Supreme Profundity Realm were almost impossible, much less challenges that crossed several levels.

The beautiful woman in front of him harbored a huge secret indeed. There was no way that regular cultivators could pull off something like that, much less pull off an attack with such an effect. However, it was not entirely the strength of that woman either; there was also a spear in her hand. The feeling that the spear in her hand and the armor on her body were not simple was becoming increasingly clearer.

This time, he had come to the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension to kill Mo Wen. In the past, the hatred between the Sword Valley and Zhang Poxiao had run deep, and it was to the extent that a junior brother of his, a prominent cultivator at the Supreme Profundity Realm, had died in Zhang Poxiao’s hands. The events of the past were still clear in his mind. How could Old Man Xuan You allow history to repeat itself? As such, he had to kill Mo Wen as soon as possible and nip the problem in the bud.

Besides, the Sword Valley was a large sword path sect whose remarkable power was the sword path. Old Man Xuan You himself, as the Sword Valley Leader, was lacking a Sacred Sword by his side. There was no doubt that Mo Wen’s Sacred Fire Sword was the best choice. Whether it was killing Mo Wen or getting the Sacred Fire Sword, he was determined to reach his goal.

It was just that he did not expect the meager Green Ancient Mystery Dimension to house something that would pique his interest even more. In comparison to this woman, killing Mo Wen or laying his hands on the Sacred Fire Sword had simply paled in comparison. He was rather happy with himself for making this trip here, or such a serendipitous opportunity would have been snatched away by someone else.

“This is good. I didn’t think I’d have to get too serious to defeat a woman like you.”

Old Man Xuan You laughed lightly. There were a lot of talents here in the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension. Rumor had it that the Tide Changing cultivator who had killed off the big sects was not this woman. However, looking at it now, she probably had that sort of power.

Gu Jingman was expressionless as she stared at Old Man Xuan You coldly. She knew that she had run into a huge enemy this time and would likely be doomed if she slipped up.

“Old Man Xuan You’s cultivation is too high, Mo Wen. There’s no way Gu Jingman can defeat him.”

The Jade Xiu King stared in confusion at Mo Wen. He had moved to help her earlier, but Mo Wen had stopped him. Anyone could tell that there was no way Gu Jingman was Old Man Xuan You’s match; one could go as far as to say nobody here was his match.

“I know, but his goal is not to kill her, so she shouldn’t be in danger. Besides, Gu Jingman’s filled with secrets and no one knows how many she’s keeping, so it’s not impossible for her to block a few of his blows,” Mo Wen remarked mildly.

Earlier on when the Jade Xiu King had prepared to help Gu Jingman, Mo Wen thought about it and decided against letting him go immediately.

“And what is your goal?” The Jade Xiu King looked at Mo Wen.

“She needs a match where she can go all out. A cultivator who has never experienced a true crisis will never grow, and she’s trained too little.”

Mo Wen looked in the sky. Gu Jingman’s journey had been too smooth-sailing and she had experienced close to no obstacles. Despite that, her cultivation had increased very quickly. It was obvious that her foundations were shaky and she had not experienced too many fights, so her mastery over her power was average at best. If this went on, malpractice was bound to arise sooner or later.

Mo Wen’s cultivation stagnated at the Primordial Soul Realm not because he could not break through to the Tide Changing Realm but because he had forcefully suppressed it to let his power consolidate more firmly. After his foundation was firm, he would move up.

Of course, this was not a problem the Three Great Kings would have. As long as they had the chance, breaking through to even the Supreme Profundity Realm would be no issue for them.

Nobody stepped forth from the Intentionless City to offer help, as though they were intentionally allowing for Gu Jingman to deal with the enemy alone.

Wang Yinru was anxious, but she could not parse what Mo Wen was thinking.

From above, in the sky, Gu Jingman had already engaged in battle with Old Man Xuan You. It was indeed as Mo Wen had said—Old Man Xuan You would try his best to capture Gu Jingman alive instead of taking her life. As such, he seemed overcautious and hesitant as he fought, but Gu Jingman did not have the same reservations. Every single one of her attacks was dealt to kill and she fought with all her strength, vicious beyond comparison.

On top of that, both Gu Jingman’s battle style and techniques were rather unique. The secret techniques of her cultivation were mostly unseen before and she moved very quickly, so quickly it was unbelievable. When she moved at full speed, it seemed as if she was not beneath the Supreme Profundity Realm.

Even if it was Old Man Xuan You, it was difficult to capture Gu Jingman in an instant.

“Battlefield of Blood Souls.”

Gu Jingman’s figure morphed into innumerable crimson shadows that covered the sky. It was difficult to tell which shadow was real and which was not; perhaps all of them were real, or maybe all of them were fake.

Spear shadow after spear shadow flew out from the crimson shadows as if infinite in number. It was difficult to tell at all how many there were because all of the spear shadows gathered to form a single, large vortex that surrounded Old Man Xuan You. They seemed to be trying to turn Old Man Xuan You and the space around him into a honeycomb-like structure.

“Giant Hand of Hollows.”

With a wave of his hand, a huge hand appeared in front of Old Man Xuan You in an instant. It covered the entire sky, and there was no way of telling how big it was. It was almost as if the entire heaven and earth had been enveloped in that hand, and the hand was like the core of heaven and earth. The spiritual energy of heaven and earth seemed to be gathering aggressively around the hand in the center.

All of the blood-colored spear shadows had been suppressed by the palm. With a gentle smack, they turned to ash.

All of the blood shadows had also been destroyed. But in the far distance, a figure stood unharmed, as if it had not been injured at all.

Old Man Xuan You was becoming increasingly shocked. Although he had only been playing around with this woman, the power she had demonstrated had shocked him greatly. It had even forced him to pull out his remarkable power secret technique. The Giant Hand of Hollows was a small path remarkable power of the Sword Valley, a Fifth Rank small path. It was even higher than Zhang Poxiao’s The Yin Yang Heaven and Earth Great Shift.

“What’s your relationship with the Blood River Patriarch?” Old Man Xuan You probed with a serious face.

He had suddenly thought of that person. He had never met the person, nor had anyone in ancient times. It was just legend that someone like that had existed, and his name had been a rather popular one.

This woman’s strength and remarkable power were rather similar to that of the legendary Blood River Patriarch.

Legend had it that the Blood River Patriarch was an ancient monster born from the Hades Blood River. He had cultivated the mysterious Blood God’s Bible and had a billion incarnations. Those incarnations were called the Blood God’s children and every single one of them was terrifying beyond comparison. Not only were they the Blood River Patriarch’s incarnations, but their battle strength was also rather high. Furthermore, they were impossible to wipe out and were capable of swallowing the power of heaven and earth.

The records had a section on the legends of the Immemorial Age which recorded the deeds of the Blood River Patriarch. During the Immemorial Age, this person was rumored to have been a menace who destroyed everything he touched. His billions of incarnations could swallow an entire world in an instant, and he could destroy the surface of the earth with just a wave of his hand.

Old Man Xuan You had naturally never seen the Blood River Patriarch’s remarkable power, but the remarkable power secret technique that Gu Jingman had demonstrated was simply too extraordinary. He had never before seen that, and it was too different from the traditional remarkable power secret techniques of the Immortal Cultivator’s world but rather similar to the legend of the Blood God’s Bible, which was why he had this hunch.

“You’re right, you really managed to guess it. The Blood River Patriarch is my master,” Gu Jingman said seriously.

Old Man Xuan You rolled his eyes. The more Gu Jingman acted this way, the less he believed it. The Blood River Patriarch was a figure from the Immemorial Age, and he had only been making a random guess when he thought the patriarch had some sort of connection with her.

“Well, then I’d like to see for myself the power of the Blood God’s Bible.” Old Man Xuan You laughed coldly. As long as I catch you, little lady, there are no secrets you can guard against me.

“You old fool, hurry and see for yourself what the great magical power of the Blood God’s Bible is like, then.” Gu Jingman looked towards Old Man Xuan You as if she were looking at an idiot.

“You’re asking for death.”

Old Man Xuan You’s faced turned red. He believed his earlier guess had been mocked by her—to think she was mocking him so openly… The fool!

Anger flared in Old Man Xuan You’s chest and his blows became ever more vicious. The Giant Hand of Hollows seemed to sweep across the entire heaven and earth, crushing Gu Jingman firmly beneath itself.

The giant hand quaked, then morphed into three palm shadows that knocked directly into Gu Jingman, easily wounding her.

Old Man Xuan You’s strength was too overwhelming and it was impossible for someone whose achievement was only at the great achievement of the Tide Changing Realm to deflect his blows.

It was a good thing Gu Jingman’s blood-colored battle armor was magical. It was able to automatically reduce a good portion of the power that hit her body. Although Gu Jingman was still injured, she recovered quickly.

“That blood-colored spear and battle armor are definitely treasures. How did Gu Jingman get those?” Mo Wen was rather curious. There were so many secrets Gu Jingman had—just what had she encountered in the seventh space of the Goddess’ World?

“Gu Jingman might really be taken alive by Old Man Xuan You if we don’t intervene now, Mo Wen,” the Ink Scaled King said with a frown on his face.

Everyone could tell that Old Man Xuan You was just playing around with Gu Jingman and he wanted to take her alive. After all, as the Sword Valley Leader, Old Man Xuan You was most adept at the sword path. Up till now, Old Man Xuan You had not pulled out his sword yet but the moment he did, it was likely that even Gu Jingman would die under his sword.
