Chapter 1049 - The Difficult Little Girl

The reason why Wang Yinru and Pei Fengwu were so anxious to absorb the Spiritual Transforming Pearl was that they wanted to break through to the Tide Changing Realm to accompany Mo Wen to the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield.

All along, only Tide Changing Realm cultivators could enter the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield. Anyone with cultivation higher or lower than that did not qualify.

Mo Wen laughed bitterly when he heard that. The two of you wanted to go to the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield? Who did you think you are?

“The Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield is an opportunity for us. A lot of cultivators in the Spirit Realm are fighting for a chance to go there, and we don’t want to miss out on this opportunity,” Pei Fengwu could only add on with a red face when she saw that Wang Yinru had run her mouth.

They could not help but be uneasy when they found out that Gu Jingman would be heading to the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield with Mo Wen.

“The Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield is not as simple as the two of you think it is. You’ll definitely lose your life the moment you let your guard down. Both of you are relying on external power to forcefully raise your cultivation to the Tide Changing Realm, and you dare head to the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield?” Mo Wen asked, impatient.

“And what about it?” Wang Yinru arched a brow, a look of defiance on her face, as though she feared nothing.

When she saw that Mo Wen did not seem too pleased, she immediately tried to defuse the tension. She said coyly, “Besides, we have you, no? I’m sure you’ll protect us.”

“The Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield is a dangerous place, and I don’t have the power to take care of both of you in a place like that. That’s enough. This is not up for discussion,” Mo Wen cut straight to the chase and ended the fuss. Gu Jingman was one issue but she had the power to fend for herself, at least. For both of you, how was it different from sending you to your deaths?

Wang Yinru and Pei Fengwu bit their lips, standing on the spot without moving an inch. They did not speak and they did not leave.

Mo Wen held his head. In an attempt to scare them, he said, “You two can absorb the Spiritual Transforming Pearls now, and I won’t stop you if you want to go to the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield either, but don’t you say I didn’t warn you. Your foundations are too rocky and you won’t be able to absorb many pearls now. Besides, you guys rose too quickly and this will have a huge impact on your path of cultivation in the future. You’ll only become a Supreme Profundity Realm cultivator at best, and even entering the Divine Illusionary Realm would be difficult.

“Haven’t you two always been comparing yourselves to Gu Jingman? Your foundations now are simply just not firm, and you won’t even be fit to carry her shoes for her in the future, let alone be compared to her,” Mo Wen said indifferently.

These were heavy words that he had spoken, but he had no choice. These two seemed dead set on getting their way so he had no choice but to be this harsh.

As expected, Wang Yinru and Pei Fengwu blanched when they head this, their faces pale beyond comparison.

“Since we’re this incompetent, then we won’t go.” Wang Yinru gritted her teeth, her eyes reddening.

“It’s not that you’re incompetent, it’s just that you started later. More haste, less speed. You guys know just as well that moving too quickly does no good for you, so stop being so competitive. I’ve concocted a batch of profound-level pills especially for you in the past few days, from the first to the fifth level. These pills are something even Supreme Profundity Realm cultivators might not necessarily get, and I spent quite a bit of effort concocting them. To me, you guys are no less competent than anyone,” Mo Wen spoke gently, his tone less harsh.

He knew that he would have to soothe them after such a harsh scolding, and what he had said to them earlier had really been very insulting.

When he saw that neither of them had any response, he could only continue speaking, “If not for the fact that I value both your potential, why else would I spend so much effort in nurturing you two, hm? Your days will definitely be bright, but you’ll have to heed instructions instead of acting out.”

“Fine, we won’t go. We’ll just stay here and cultivate, is that enough?” Wang Yinru’s face was stony as ever, but Mo Wen’s words had indeed registered in their heads.

They thought about it carefully, then realized that he was right. What was there to fight about? Mo Wen had spent far more effort on them than he had on Gu Jingman, and he had even been thinking about their future cultivation right before he was about to leave.

“Alright, then Sister Yinru and I will guard this home for you.” Pei Fengwu had acknowledged Mo Wen’s suggestion and she was a little touched, but she made sure her face was still set in a stony expression.

“This house cannot go without your protection. Well then, my thanks to you two beautiful fairies for being this selfless,” Mo Wen immediately thanked them with a smile on his face now that a huge load was off his chest.

“Hmph, you better return soon. You’ve stirred so much trouble outside, so don’t blame me if I can’t hold the fort.” Wang Yinru huffed softly.

Everyone knew that the Green Mystery Ancient Dimension had Nie Wuxin guarding it, and not even the bravest person would dare pick a fight here. But this was not something he could say outright, so Mo Wen nodded fervently and agreed, praising their efforts.

The Jade Xiu King and the rest of them tried to break through to the Supreme Profundity Realm in the last ten years, but they did not succeed. The Supreme Profundity Realm was not like the Tide Changing Realm; it was a bottleneck on the Path of Immortal Cultivation and 90% off immortal cultivators would be stuck at this bottleneck.

This was because only cultivators who had their own path would be able to promote to the Supreme Profundity Realm.

Every step after that was very tedious. Enlightenment of a small path would allow them to break through to the Supreme Profundity Realm, the enlightenment of a middle path would allow them to break through to the Divine Illusionary Realm, the enlightenment of three middle paths merged into a single one would allow them to break through to the Path Integration Realm, and enlightenment of a big path would allow them to break through to the Virtue and Justice realm.

Although the Jade Xiu King and the rest had hundreds of thousands of years of practice, the world law of the preliminary ancient land was in fragments and no complete path existed within it, so they had little to no knowledge of paths. Now that they wanted to break through to the Supreme Profundity Realm all of a sudden, they had to push on step by step until they could forge their own path.

This was why Mo Wen had been prepared to have the three of them go on this journey to the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield as well. They were only a step away from the Supreme Profundity Realm and all they needed was one turning point, so perhaps they would be able to successfully break through in the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield.

After a month, the five of them quietly left the Green Ancient Mystery Dimension. No one else other than Wang Yinru and a few essential people knew where they were headed.

At the Huatian Palace Headquarters, in front of the senate…

“There are five of you now?” Mo Qingtian said, somewhat speechless, as she looked at Mo Wen and the bunch.

Did Mo Wen not say there would only be two people going? Why were there five now?

“Can you get hold of five recommendation slots for us?” Mo Wen asked.

He had initially thought that the Jade Xiu King and the rest of them would be able to break through to the Supreme Profundity Realm within the years and without a hitch, so he had not thought about bringing them along.

“It wouldn’t be a problem, not if you had told me earlier, but now that you’re making such a last-minute request it makes things a little trickier. The recommendation slots are a touchy subject in the Huatian Palace since a lot of people are interested in the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield.”

The Huatian Palace held quite a number of recommendation slots, but the distribution was not restricted to people within the palace; a part of it had to be split amongst the sects of the Peng Lai Immortal Realm. There had been an abundance at the start, but now that they had more or less been handed out, there was no way they could be rescinded.

“Let me think of something,” Mo Qingtian said with a shake of her head. She looked curiously at the four people standing beside Mo Wen. This Mo Wen, just how did he manage to find so many Tide Changing Realm cultivators? And not a single one of them looked like pushovers either, especially the indifferent young girl.

Mo Qingtian could not help but sneak a few more glances at her. In the end, she kept her gaze fixed on something in the distance and her hands behind her back. How aloof she looked, not even sparing him a glance.

“Then I leave it to you, Brother Qingtian,” Mo Wen said with a smile.

Mo Qingtian hurried off to make arrangements for the slots. Meanwhile, Mo Wen brought the Jade Xiu King and the rest for a walk around the Senate peak.

“Mo Wen, is this Huatian Palace the same as the one that was the most influential back then?” The Ink Scaled King looked around curiously.

“Mhm. Right behind the Huatian Palace is the Spirit World. None of the high-level cultivators are in the Source World these days.” Mo Wen nodded.

“This place is something else. It’s likely to have been built by a Heavenly Path Sage.”

The Jade Xiu King looked at this world, somewhat in awe. The Huatian Palace did not seem like a complicated place on the surface but one could tell, if they paid attention, that this place looked like it was situated in turbulent times. It also seemed like a dense spatial intersection, connected to another world.

It was unlikely even for a Virtue and Justice Realm cultivator to have made an influence in a place like this.

“Huatian Palace is not simple. After all, it controls all of the worlds’ life and death.” It was normal that a Heavenly Path Sage had built the Huatian Palace since it was responsible for the operation of the entire source world.

Mo Wen and the rest discussed the structure and the wonders of the Huatian Palace in hushed tones. Meanwhile, Gu Jingman and Mo Yuqing refused to even look at each other. One had her arms crossed and the other had them behind her back, neither of them able to tolerate the other’s presence.

Mo Wen had long detected this situation, but he simply pretended that he did not see it. Only a fool would meddle in this. The two of them had been like this the whole time they were on this journey, so he could only hope they did not stir trouble in the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield.

“Haha, Brother Mo Wen, you’re something else, aren’t you? I can’t believe you made it to the Tide Changing Realm so quickly. I’ve spent more than 600 years cultivating before I could make it this far.”

A hearty laugh rang out from inside the Senate. An elder dressed in black stepped out shortly after. It was none other than Wise Man Ku Ji.

“Congratulations, Brother Ku Ji,” Mo Wen said with a smile.

“It’s all thanks to you that I could break through to the Tide Changing Realm. You’re my lucky star, and I can’t even begin to imagine how long it’d take for me to make it this far on my own,” Wise Man Ku Ji said with a loud laugh.

“How do I address these friends of yours?” He asked curiously, looking at Jade Xiu King and the rest.

With a smile, Mo Wen introduced them to Wise Man Ku Ji. He did not reveal their identities, of course, and he only gave him their names.

“You’re really something else, gathering a bunch of elites without a single sound. Don’t worry, the slots for the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield shouldn’t be a problem,” Wise Man Ku Ji said with a smile.

“How did you know we were going to the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield?” Mo Wen asked in shock.

“Don’t you know, Brother Mo Wen? Veteran Ku Ji just gave his slot to you. The Huatian Palace had initially finalized the slots for themselves and had to hand over the rest to the sects in the Peng Lai Immortal Realm, so the three extra slots you want will have to come from within the Huatian Palace.”

Another voice rang out, and Mo Wen thought it sounded familiar. It was Xiao Jinghe.

He saw four other figures walking over from afar. Xiao Jinghe had not been the only one to come; Nie Junxue, Wen Jiuhai, and Chu Yu had also made their way over.

“Is this true, Brother Ku Ji? This is…” Mo Wen looked towards Wise Man Ku Ji. The latter had actually given up his own slot for him, so this was no small debt he owed the other—after all, the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield was a rare opportunity.

“Don’t get started with me, this is no big deal. Besides, I’ve never really wanted to go to the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield anyway. You know as well that I’ve only just broken through to the Tide Changing Realm and I’m still too far behind the elites from the other worlds. Even if I did go, there’s a huge chance I’d end up dead, and I’m actually relieved now that I don’t have to go.”

Wise Man Ku Ji smiled as he patted Mo Wen’s shoulders. The Huatian Palace had reserved quite a portion of the slots for themselves and even he had managed to receive one, but how could he go when the Ancestral Sorcerer Battlefield was so dangerous?
