In a brightly lighted hall, which has a width of more than 300m and a length double of width, stood tens of people varying in age and appearance.
By the background setting, the hall looked like a church because of a couple of white robes-wearing priests who stood by the aisle with solemn expressions on their faces.
Apart from them, some people were wearing black and red robes with the similar logo of a bright eight-stroke sun adorning their uniform.
These people mentioned above were the professors and instructors of Eden Academy, where the case of demons was brought up some days ago.
The crowd of teachers was standing on a different side from the priest as they stood silently, waiting for the person in question patiently.
Today, the baptism of the person who was alleged to be associated with demons would be happening in the church.
The person who, despite being on the threshold of newbie rank, actually defeated a [Terror Class] demon and also the person who sent the hero of humanity in a state of despair.
Austin Wright.
Since the capital partially controlled the school, and the news of demon appearance was by no means small to be concealed, which made the interference of the Capital became inevitable.
It goes without saying that if demons started popping up with a student as it's a catalyst when the most crucial resource of humanity was also part of that academy, the Capital wouldn't be relaxing from the sideline.
To have a firmer grasp on the situation, a single person was sent by the capital to surveillance the case.
The said person is the court magician of the empire and can defeat the headmaster of the Eden Academy if push comes to shove.
One of the most talented mages in the world and the most powerful in the nation was currently standing in the corner of the room and was gawking at the scene like a god looking down on puny humans.
This specific arrogant behavior of his made the whole surroundings awkward as well as tense.
Apart from the court magician Alex's egoistic behavior, what people feared was his judgment.
If, by any chance, Austin proved to be a demon cult follower, then the options of revolution in the Eden Academy would rise higher than most teachers' expectancy.
If a student had been studying in the most trusted academy in the nation despite being a follower of the cult, which was the nemesis of humanity, the situation would become severely dangerous to turn blindfolded.
There were tens of jobs as well, as reputation was on the line today, solely depending upon the innocence of Austin Wright, who still hasn't made an appearance.
"He sure doesn't have a sense of time, does he?"
Alex spoke with his eyes curved crescent with a voice clearly signifying how annoyed he was right now, standing up for more than an hour now.
"We have sent someone to look out for him."
Beside him stood the white-bearded wizard with a calm expression on his face, completely betraying his unsettling inner distressful storms.
The Principal was also well aware of how it would throw black ink on Eden Academy's name if Austin were to be proven to be an evil entity, but he couldn't just have let Austin roam like that.
But the unfortunate thing was that the headmaster learned about Count Vincent throwing Austin out of his family name after he announced the baptism.
If not for Austin's background, the headmaster would indeed have just kicked Austin out of the school and have asked some people to take care of him afterward, as being a responsible headmaster, he couldn't just let an evildoer wander freely in the world.
But nothing could be done now when everything was set up. It was practically impossible for Austin to escape until he was on school grounds, so what now the old man could do was wait for the inevitable.
**Tap**Tap**
Suddenly the footstep of a single person resonates in the big hall, naturally attracting every gaze.
Tall, handsome stature, correct walking posture like a bonafide noble, emerald eyes which in one glance could terrify anyone but upon closer look could make one immense in it, coupled with platinum blonde hair was all adorned by a single ex-nobility and the person with the most incredible popularity at the moment.
Austin walked solemnly without minding the gaze he was getting directed with from different sides of the room.
His affinity with mana was more significant than what he had shown until now, so even the Court Magician Alex, along with the headmaster, was hiding from normal perception; Austin was well aware of them.
Despite being thoroughly surprised to sense such an excellent mana presence in the room, he didn't have any motive to back now.
After what 'she' had asked him to do and taught him in these couple of days, he was sure nothing would go back as it was once he landed his feet in the room.
And strangely, he wasn't scared of it.
Maybe it was because Luna was on his side, or he was trying to find a suitable person to rely on until now, which Luna took the role of, but there was one thing he was sure of...
'There's no going back from now on.'
Being glared at by numerous teachers with a mixture of disdain and hope comprising those gazes, Austin made his way toward the podium where the prominent priest was standing.
"You finally showed up, huh...I thought the name of God made you piss your pants that you ran away."
Despite looking like a calm type of person, the head priest was a vicious man who loved to bitch people in their face, and when the person was a suspect of a demon cult follower, the priest wasn't even holding back at all.
Austin just shook his head with a sigh displaying how child-like behavior the head priest was showcasing, which made the latter one's veins pop in agitation.
But Austin has no intention of playing with the older man when he had another older man to throw into trouble.
"Before I turn myself in, I want to talk to the headmaster. If not, then forget about Baptising; I won't even think before bringing another calamity to school."
Austin's words were highly subjective, making the people present in the church gasp audibly with astonishment and subtle fear spreading like a sheet on their faces.
It didn't take a genius to guess what 'Calamity' Austin was talking about as something similar to catastrophe recently has appeared in the vicinity.
The fear of losing their job amplified; however, the terrifying thought of facing the Terror Class Golem or something similar was heavier than their jobs.
Even the headmaster was powerful enough to handle a terror class demon, but what if any two of them appear?
And what if a [Mythic Class] suddenly decides to show its face and starts to run havoc among humanity, starting with the Eden Academy?
Every being apart from Alex became pale just from the thought of facing Mythic Monsters, which a Hero could only handle. And taking the current power level of Kyouki, the populace couldn't help but sigh in worry.
**Swish**
Like a harsh wind, the white beard Wizard appeared in the center of the church. His raven eyes were fixated on the young blonde youth, with visible anger filled in them.
The all-time aloof and calm headmaster was getting agitated after so long didn't help but add more burden to the atmosphere.
The unconscious mana leak from the headmaster was making people breathless as they somehow held their ground and resisted the urge to vomit in the holy place.
"You! What do you want now!"
The headmaster's voice was low, but it echoed in the hall profoundly enough to reach Austin as the latter mentioned gestured to close his ears in response to the loud noise.
"Take it, easy old man. Don't come to complain if suddenly your pharynx chokes just because of your exaggerated reaction."
A few thick veins popped on the wrinkled head of the Academy's head Wizard as he heard the arrogant prick's disgraceful words.
But the headmaster's hair wasn't white for nothing. He knew Austin was trying to provoke him, but why? The Wizard was unaware of it, so he took the safe route and calmed himself down before asking.
"Tell me what you want, student."
He took a complete abort in his temperament as he asked Austin in a much calmer tone even though his aura was oozing with danger a couple of blinks ago.
Truly terrifying.
Austin raised his brows in fake astonishment before he coughed twice and stated the matter he was currently most amused upon.
"Since someone has dared to tarnish my reputation in the whole school, I want an apology if I came out innocent from the test you guys are putting me i-"
His sentence didn't even conclude when one of the senior instructors turned herself toward Austin with wide eyes as she shouted at the top of her lungs.
"You want the daughter of Knight Commander to ask for forgiveness?!"
It wasn't just a question but also a threat that Austin must take back what he said as what he asked was highly concerning and nerve-wracking.
The daughter of the Supreme Commander Charles was herself a very arrogant and prideful woman. If she was to ask to kneel in front of anyone other than her father, no one was sure whether the questioner would get out alive.
And even if Venessa agrees to plea for forgiveness in front of Austin, the person whom she calls 'Papa' would not let this thing slide at all.
Everyone knew what might the knight commander Charles carry and how terrifying he would become when it came to the reputation of his motherland or his family.
Even the aloof Alex, standing in the shadows, became pale as a sheet as a memory of Charles flashed in his mind of the time when Alex joked about Venessa in the past.
The whole room was terrified to even think about such a thing as an angry Knight was a disaster himself, not to talk about the Knight Commander himself.
Every eye wasn't leaving the blond youth, who was calmly standing by the shocked eyes of the Prominent Priest.
"Kid, think before you speak, or you'll lose your head in no time."
The sweating Priest muttered under his breath, which only Austin could have heard, but the latter one ignored like a buzz of a bee.
"Yes, I want just what you said, professor. I want Venessa to come and kneel in front of me to ask forgiveness for the blame she delegated to me. If you can't fulfill this wish of mine, then forget to even touch a hair strand on me."
The agitation, the agony for the possible insight, the fear of something irreversible was weighing the whole atmosphere like how water damps cotton.
The people praying for Austin's innocence some minutes ago suddenly took a 180° as losing their jobs was better than losing their head from the blade of the mad Knight of Royal Order.
"Do you think we will let you go away even if your wish isn't fulfilled, you bastard?!"
One of the instructors walked forward and launched chains of bind toward Austin with agitation and terror clouding his mind to think anything clearly.
Purple chains of mana advanced toward Austin at a furious pace. The bind was powerful enough to restrain a [Unique Class] demon, but no one has ever thought such a powerful spell would be played like this...
**FLICK**
Just as the front chain was about to touch Austin, he brought his left hand forward at a speed that was untraceable by various in the room before he flicked in the open air with his tightly held index finger.
**BANG**
In an instant, all the binding chains disintegrated into particles as the conjurer was thrown into the air with force applied in counter to his spell.
The instructor who attacked Austin crashed into the church's main entrance with a loud bang, followed by his pained groans.
A considerable gasp resonated in the church as everyone witnessed the true strength of Austin for the first time. But no one was aware that Austin didn't even use even 5% of his actual worth.
The previously tensed Alex was now looking at the scene with amazement and amusement covering his demeanor.
The raw strength of Austin's mana was able to dispel the magic of such a level wasn't something anyone had anticipated, which naturally put everyone under a strong influence of danger from the arrogant youth.
Looking at his front with cold eyes, Austin spoke in a voice that sent fear down the spine of every person who was previously looking at him with murderous intent.
"Any second misbehave, and I wouldn't ponder for even a blink before turning this place into a graveyard even I turn one of the dead souls in the process. So think before you act. "
His voice neither carried haughtiness nor agitation. He was stating his point in the most emotionless tone one could mutter.
It was the first time when someone had come across such an Austin who, without moving, was able to send such dreadful shivers to the listeners.
But strangely, it wasn't the headmaster who spoke his decision but the voice which only the Headmaster had heard until now.
"Agreed."
Every pair of eyes fixed on Austin turned subconscious toward the person who strolled toward the headmaster before he stood facing Austin.
His face had a wide grin as he adjusted his single lensed frame before he again spoke without even minding the consent of the head of the school.
"I, Alex Nuèye, the sole head court magician of the Gram Empire, promise you that once you proved to be an innocent here, I will personally bring Student Venesaa to the church right away and let you have your compensation for the humiliation. Is that okay?"
If Austin wasn't aware of Alex's presence or personality, then Austin might have been surprised by his sudden appearance and such a cooperative offer.
But there were some certain perks when someone already has lived the world once through drawings and text once before.
With a similar wide grin, Austin turned forward to the prominent priest, baffling the latter, before Austin spoke in a confident tone.
"Baptise me, old man. I can't wait for my juicy compensation~."
