Chapter 1017: Shalour City

After riding for two days, Julian finally saw the outskirts of Shalour city, he could see a massive city right in the middle surrounded by a massive body of water, the only way to enter the city is through the bridge that connects the city to route 11.

Julian didn't think much and rode through the bridge and entered Shalour city, it was already late night so he got himself a hotel room, fed his pokemon, and went to sleep.

The next morning, as soon as he woke up, he cleaned himself up, fed his pokemons, and opened his laptop to check on the Shalour city gym leader to see how good this gym leader is.

He noticed that the gym leader of this gym has changed recently, the gym leader who retired is called Grukinn, an old man who just retired, Julian was surprised to see that he was also part of Kalos's Elite Four back in the past, he then gave up his position and became the gym leader of Shalour city gym.

And now he finally decided to retire because of his old age, and the one who took his place as the current gym leader is his granddaughter named Korrina.

He looked up Korrina and noticed that she is just 16 years old, Julian is not surprised by this but it is very rare for such a young person to take over and become a gym leader, though there are some exceptions where gym leaders are even younger than 16 just because they are prodigies and are better than veterans in the battle department.

Julian looked more into Korrina and realized that she is a really good trainer who needs a little more polishing before becoming a perfect gym leader, she still seems to be a little young and rash and her ace seems to be a Lucario.

After looking into her team, Julian knew it was time to evolve his Flabébé, Flabébé has been holding onto her evolution, she wanted to be perfect before evolution and it was now time.

After doing his research, Julian made his way towards the closest forest and started to train his pokemon, he separated Flabébé and Honedge and told them to battle it out, after battling it out for a while, Flabébé started to get pressured by Honedge finally pushing her to her limit.

Being pushed so hard, Flabébé finally started to glow, the flower under her tiny tail started to grow bigger, Flabébé also started growing bigger, her arms went around the flower's stem, her pointy snout disappeared and was replaced by an actual mouth, her ears changed, she even grew petals like eyelashes.

Once the glow disappeared, her new evolution was finally visible to everyone present, Floette twirled around happily as she felt stronger, bigger, and faster than before.

Just evolving gave her a huge power boost, Julian was also impressed, her white flower looked beautiful under the glow of the sun, Julian smiled seeing this.

He then got back to training Floette, now that she has evolved, it was her time to battle again, Julian didn't want to use his other pokemon for the battle for now, except his Skrelp who will debut in his very first official battle against the Shalour city's gym leader.

Julian trained his Floette on mastering her new body while he trained Skrelp on how to use both powerful physical and special attack, the Skrelps are very good all-rounder pokemon and they are known to learn very powerful moves which belong to their typing.

Even though they don't excel in one particular aspect, they can still pack a punch, but things will get more interesting when Skrelp evolves, he will become another powerhouse in Julian's team with very high special defense and special attack.

Julian continued to train his pokemon for three days before finally deciding to challenge the gym, while walking around the city, he noticed that a lot of people like to use rollerblades in this city, many youths were rushing around having fun.

Julian didn't think much of this and finally arrived at the gym, he arrived at a massive gym, the gym covered a massive area but was not high at all, he looked at the massive gym symbol in front of the gym, it was very clear that this gym is a fighting gym.

As he entered the gym, he could hear shouts coming from the back of the gym, it sounded like people were training and being thought martial arts, Julian's guess was right, as he made his way towards the back of the gym, he saw a huge group of people practicing martial arts and they were guided by an old man who is keeping a careful watch on them.

The old man noticed Julian and turned around, he looked at Julian and noticed him covering his identity, he wondered who this young man is.

He walked towards Julian with a smile on his face.

Old Man "Are you here to join the class?"

He asked.

Julian "No, I am here for a gym battle"

Julian answered.

Old Man "Oh, you should head inside and wait, my granddaughter will be there soon, she is not here at the moment"

The Old Man answered.

Julian "Sure, I will be waiting then"

Julian said and turned him back to the old man and walked it, Julian realized that this man is none other than the previous gym leader but now that he has retired, it's not his job to battle Julian.
