The moment I stepped into the tree line of the forests, I could feel some sort of tugging. It was faint, almost imperceptible and for someone like me who was already attuned to souls in the highest form or manner possible, this was a degree of skill that no one other than me would have been able to notice. I'm not sure how, but these trees were trying to slowly shave away a piece of my soul, none of the trees in the outskirts were strong enough to fully absorb my soul, so they would have preferred to absorb it's energy.
I ignored the feeling and kept on walking forwards, I couldn't be damaged in anyway by these trees, but I have to admit that they really made some sort of stellar security system. If even I could feel their thug, then definitely other gods would be able to feel it too, and since they're attacking the soul rather than the body, it stands to reason that these trees have enough juice in them to suck in a god's soul.
*Crunch!*
I looked down and noticed that I had just crushed a skull into dust, I looked around and noticed that I was in some sort of graveyard, though most of the graves were open, and the skeletons and desiccated flesh of the people within were left exposed. I turned around and saw that behind me, all I could see were trees and a dense black mist, and given that I've only been walking for just about five minutes, I'll say illusions and magic traps were afoot.
But there was a graveyard in front of me, there were corpses, and a little ways beyond that, there was a massive pile of equipment. Probably what all these dead men and women left behind, though i have the feeling that they will be needing it soon. A hand suddenly stretched out and grabbed my boots, I looked down to see a face with dried flesh and an exposed skull hanging on to me as it pulled itself from the ground. There was a green glow within it's eyes, fully cementing it's status as an undead, I sort of called this the moment I saw the graveyard.
I smashed my foot down on top of its skull, and watched as the soul that animated it's skeleton flew towards the massive pile of weapons and armor in the corner. I stepped back, dodging a swipe from a zombie, the smell of rot and decay wad allover its body, this dude just died recently and he's through with the rotting process yet.
(PUSH)
I sent it flying back, roughly smashing the rotted figure against one of the soul catcher oak trees, and barely keeping the contents in my stomach intact after the mess I just made. A skeleton jumper down from one of the branches above me, how the hell did she get there seeing as she was actually wearing a wedding dress, I don't really know. But I stepped back and let her or rather it smash it's brittle bones on a headstone that was just besides me. Once again that wisp of green soul flame flew all the way into the pile of equipment.
"Something really fishy is going on here." I muttered to myself as I looked at that pile of weapons with great suspicion.
But there wasn't any immediate answer from it as I stepped forward and slapped the skull of another skeleton. The soul catcher Oak trees were really resilient and sturdy, so much so they were akin to a rock or even iron as the skull smashed into fragments of dust after it met the tree. Seems like we made the right choice about what wood to use, but the skeletons seemed to be increasing, and I was pressed for time, so it would be better if I got this over with.
(BREAK!)
I waved my hand and the rune circle appeared, it's previous dark blue form, now hand hints of gold intertwined into it, making for an exquisite visual display. I raised the rune circle until it was above my head, and then I expanded if from its fifteen inches in diameter form, until it was over fifty meters wide and hanging over my head. I brought my hand down, and the rune smashed into the ground with an explosion, releasing a ripple of golden blue light that stretched in almost a hundred meters around me, turning everything to dust and clearing a significant part of the forest.
That was a little to effective, I turned around and noticed that the black mist in between the trees had disappeared, and I could see Xaseah and the others a few meters away from me. Rhea was standing in front of everyone, her form glowing with a black starlight like energy. I gave her a sheepish look, I really didn't intend for the rune to get so far out of hand, I put the rest of them in danger. Thankfully Rhea was around, her power to nullify every sort of ability or magic in existence, even to the gods was second to none.
The only other thing with such capabilities was Ionite, but that was a compound as opposed to Rhea who is a person. I guess her nickname of Void Princess is not for nothing, maybe it would be best to let her stay in the front from now on, she was practically the ultimate shield, and I would love for...Oof!
So far nothing has made me feel threatened on this planet since I got here. Apart from the knowledge that there were other gods waiting somewhere, and I could just as easily lose my life to them as they can to me, plus it was more in their favor than mine anyway. But this time something was terribly wrong.
After being bashed into a few soul catcher oaks, I could feel my soul energy rapidly being corroded, it wasn't being absorbed or diffused, it was being corroded, as if I had some sort of poison or acid in my body. It came as a shock to me, because quite honestly as a god, I thought nothing could hurt me except for other gods and their weapons. Seems to me, I might have been terribly wrong.
I pushed the corrosive energy out of my body, and without standing on ceremony called out my armor. But the moment I did so, there was a massive pressure released. My sword, shield, armor and gun are all a part of my body, so when my body became that of a god along with my energy, they also attained divinity. But right now my energy was sealed, making me no different from a mortal, well an immortal vampire, just not a god with divinity.
However my equipment still had all their godly glory and abilities, and as it stands even though they belong to me, I can't control them with my powers sealed, which is why their aura would spread out and unrestrained whenever I brought them out. I recalled the armor and stretched both my hands as runes began to take shape. I looked at what I had to fight and couldn't help but berate myself.
A golem made from the amalgamation of discarded equipment. His joints were glowing an eerie green, same as it eyes, showing that currently it was powered by all the souls of the undead I just destroyed, and the problem is I'm sure there were lots of them. I felt that the graveyard stretched for thousands of meters into the ground, and even though my attack was only within a 100 to 200 hundred meter radius, it had still went down thousands of feet, turning hundreds if not thousands of undead to scrap, and sending all those souls into this golem.
Souls were a powerful thing, and this much of them clustered into this chunk of metal would make for a very challenging battle.....at least for the first five minutes. And with the corrosive properties attached to it's strike, I might actually have a challenge here. To be honest it weird, right now I have to rethink my stance on my so called all powerful nothing can hurt me stance, because something just did. And even though I got rid of the corrosive energy, it still took quite a bit of effort on my part, it was like a poison that ate away at your soul.
This universe was still growing, still expanding, the addiction n of this dungeon planet is an example. These trees never appeared before, utter right now they're here, and it seems they have the ability to poison a person's soul, even a god. Sure I'm going to use the oldest and most powerful of all the trees to build something, but once that's done, I'm making sure I wipe every last one of the soul catcher oak from existence, they were too dangerous, and in the wrong hands, death was assured.....even for a god.
