War was an art, at least that's what many people believe. The ability to outmaneuver and out think your opponent, taking slow strategic steps until the very moment it culminated in your victory. That was an art....what a bunch of sadistic narcissists. Using different methods and scenarios to kill a person is not an art, it's just as simple as its name, it's killing.
While I was very much confident about my confrontation with the Josagn, the humanoid men, with bird beaks were still aliens, and without a doubt, had weapons that I was quite unfamiliar with, so it was best to err on the side of caution and not do anything stupid or brash. So weaved a shield in front of me, and it was just in time as I was buffered by a hail of laser fire and plasma blasts, both from the Josagn arranged on the ground with trucks and tanks and cannons.
I couldn't help but notice that these guys were ready for us, this was supposed to be an ambush, to catch Larkin off guard and cause a huge amount of damage to him before he's able to rally his allies and put up any sort of defense or go on the offense. But they were prepared, ready for us in every sense of the word, the only thing they didn't expect was probably the scope of mine and Asha's ability.
Something was off about this entire operation, but I'll have to deal with as I go. I looked up to see that the Josagn and Nephilim still in the air were heading towards Asha's hedge. They would be in for quite a nasty surprise, but Asha would probably be busy defending herself from the enemies on our side, so the least I could was at least thin the enemies in the air. The Josagn were humanoid for the most part, the only difference probably has to be their bird face, complete with a beak and big round bird eyes.
Though there's a very obvious difference between them and real birds, and that would probably be the fact that there was distinct lack of feathers and they needed hover bikes to travel. Though they were quite skilled using it, it wasn't going to save them from what's coming. I jumped up, flapping my wings as I picked up speed, heading towards the Josagn taking extra care to avoid the Nephilim. I flew past the first Josagn hover bike, grabbing it as I flew by and pulling it along. I twirled in the air, throwing off the rider, as I threw the hover bike towards another Josagn hover bike with it's rider still on it.
Both Josagn riders fell to the ground, and much like the featherless birds they were, they landed on the ground with a rather sickening splat. I hope I don't have to clean that up later. I turned my attention back to other Josagn, and just in time to receive a grenade to the face.
BOOOOM!
With my shield on or even without it, I doubt an explosion of that magnitude would be able to hurt me, but it still pushed me back a bit, and right in the line of two Nephilim with energy spears thrusting towards my back. I didn't even need to look back to see the trajectory of the spear, I just turned my body sideways, and watched as the both went past me. Unless you were a vampire yourself, or had senses and speed comparable to one, you can't sneak up on a vampire.
I stretched my hands as they went past me and grabbed their collars. Then I flew in an arch, flapping my wings as I twirled my way to the ground, and as I got close, dodging the hail of gun fire even though I didn't need to, I threw the two Nephilims into a crowd of Josagn, probably breaking a few bones in the process, but at the very least they'll live. It would have been easy to fight without having to worry every second about hurting the Nephilims, but according to Galadriel, her people were slaves to the seal around their necks, if they had a choice they wouldn't be fighting, so if we could we should not use lethal force, just enough force to subdue them. Which meant I had to hold back a bit.
I flew higher, hoping to get a better vantage point as I watched most of the Josagn and Nephilim approach Asha's wall of thorns. They tried flying over it, however the walls suddenly grew arms that stretched out and started attacking. The Josagn were unlucky, because the thorns stretchedand pierced through their body with prejudice, and it was moving way too fast for any one of them to evade. The Nephilims fared better, but they were all still in a world of hurt as the thorns stretched out to grab them, wrapping and encasing them within it's walls as it still kept firing limbs after limbs, destroying the Josagn hover bikes, and leaving ugly and very bloody holes in the body of their riders.
BOOOM!
A loud cannon sounded, along with a massive flash of light that tore through the wall of thorns. There was a massive hole in its frame, though the hole closed up immediately, it was obvious these guys had weapons strong enough to cause damage to the wall of thorns and even bring it down, should they have enough. But that would be a very bad scenario, because all of the Nephilims the thorn wall had captured, were still within it's body, but should it get destroyed, it would cause a massive backlash to Asha, and kill all of the captured Nephilims. This allies of theirs didn't really care about their lives or deaths.
I flew down in a dive, picking up speed and breaking the sound barrier, as I headed straight for the middle of the Josagn blockade. This was the part where they were concentrated the most, and it was obvious they were protecting something there, a massive cannon that was covered with a tap. But as I was falling towards them, the cannon suddenly faced up, and shot out a transparent beam of energy, that was flying towards me. I felt all of the hair on my body stand up, as my senses warned me of danger.
I placed my hands in front of me and used [PUSH] creating a wall that stopped the advance of the energy beam, and started pushing it back as I fell. The beam fell back to the ground, and spread for a radius of almost fifty meters, and in the most jaw dropping and stomach churning display of my life, every life within that radius, was completely vaporized, becoming nothing more than a puddle of liquid on the ground.
I landed on the cannon with enough force to crumple it's entire form, and soon enough there was a loud beeping noise from it. Maybe landing on it was not a good idea, so I jumped and flew back up. And just in time as the cannon exploded again, this time spreading for an almost two hundred meter radius, almost reaching Asha's thorn wall, and stopping just short of vaporizing it and every living being inside of it.As for the people on this side, there was none left. This time even the Nephilims that I was trying to protect were not safe from the explosion, the were completely wiped out. Fuck!
I felt stupid, though this was an unfortunate accident, I felt that at the very least I had to be smarter than this. I landed in the middle of a completely decimated battlefield, all that was left were weapons, armors and their tanks and hover bikes. Everything that had a trace of life, even the grass that once littered this place was gone. I didn't expect this, and it was my fault, but right now there was nothing to be done about it. I was still in the middle of a fight and I had a weaver to kill. I looked around and marched towards the extravagant mansion situated in the middle of the city, I could sense a lot of people in there, and without a doubt, I should be able to find Larkin in there. I used our bond to send a telepathic message to Asha.
"Asha there's been an accident on this side. The entire battle field is clear, you can drop the wall and have Galadriel advance."
She didn't ask what happened, and that was probably because she already knew. After all we were bonded, and we shared memories when we had to. I moved towards the mansion, recalling my armor and dragon form, as my wings, horns and tail receded back into my body along with my armor. Was it wise doing so, I'm not so sure, but I felt a lot more free just being and looking like myself. Let my enemies see my real face.
I walked into the house, and almost immediately someone slashed an axe at my chest. I just raised my hands and grabbed the axe blade, and moved forward a bit as someone else shot a handgun at the side of my head. The bullet flew past my head, and slammed into a base placed on a pedestal on my right. I grabbed the hand gun, placing my thumb over its chamber as I glared at my two assailants. Then I stepped back again, just barely escaping a hammer smashed on my skull.
I shot my right leg forward, blasting the skull of the Josagn with the hammer apart. The attack was so intense, that part of his spinal column was even ripped out of his body as he skidded across the polished tiled floor, leaving a bloody trail behind. I looked at the Josagn holding the axe and clenched my hand that was gripping the axe blade. There was a loud crack as I broke the metal head apart, and then grabbed a piece of it, which I proceeded to stab into the Josagn's forehead.
I looked at Josagn with a gun, struggling to pull the trigger of a gun that I had already crushed to pieces. I pulled him closer, and before he could react, I sank my fangs into his neck. I've been so accustomed to fighting with weapons, that I've forgotten the natural weapons of a vampire, their fangs and claws. Well I'm in the urge to put them to good use. I didn't drink his blood long enough to savor it's taste, as I just ripped his throat out and dropped the gurgling Josagn to the ground, while I spat out his larynx. And then I took a step forwards, moving deeper into the mansion as blood still dripped from my lips and my fangs were still exposed for the world to see.
I relied on my senses to find the people with the mansion, they were mostly scattered around the place, but there was a high concentration of them in what seemed to be an underground bunker. The sight and senses of a vampire were weird, we could see at night, sometimes just relying on the body heat of a person or thing like a snake to stalk and hunt our prey. However all of our senses combine together to give us a powerful sense of sight. We see with our noses, relying on smell, just like werewolves, with our ears relying on sound, like the echolocation of a bat or dolphin, a trait also shared by werewolves. And then our sight that could see through a few spectrums of light, also just like werewolves, wow, I never noticed how similar we were to those mangy mutts.
I made my way towards the bunker, ignoring every other cluster of heat. Of course that might be a mistake, which was why I decided to place a shield around the entire mansion. No one was getting in, and definitely no one was getting out. I turned a corner, and came into a hallway filled with Josagn and Nephilims, and they had big guns, really, really big guns.
"Ummmm, sorry but please is this the way to the bathroom? I'm such a klutz and I think I may have lost my way."
*BANG!* BANG* *PEW* *PEW*
"Okay, not the bathroom, thanks for clearing that up. Now let's dance."
