My neck and my fingers hurt, and not just that I've been having a series of meetings for the past three days trying to work out the kinks and hijinks to the nobility and military ranking system. The military and the nobility works hand in hand, as a member of the military at a certain rank would become a title noble and be given land. But to keep things in balance, certain military ranks share equal power with the nobility ranks, there has to be a balance of power.
The only difference being that as a noble, you have land and maybe other nobles under you. As a soldier all you have is the military and gains given to you by the government itself. But it's not all that bad when you think about it, this way both parts of the kingdom can keep each other in check. The nobility title asides, official posts have also been made, however they're not as complicated as the nobility ranks, though there are some posts than can only be gained as a high ranking noble, or soldier.
These offices posts don't have much power except when it comes to running the kingdom itself. These posts would be filled by capable people and only through democracy as this posts would have to deal with the running of the kingdom, I felt it was wise to give the people a chance in choosing the people who would fill these posts, kind of to let them know that they also have power. Which is to say that even a common man can the representative of the cities outer ring western sector, or the minister of internal infrastructure who deals with problems within the kingdom as a whole, from food to construction etc. And said minister wouldhave many people under her. At the moment Farina is filling that posts, and it's a post that's mainly stuck at the king's side.
For now though the official posts are not that much, and only a few of them can be decided by democracy, while the other would be through voting and appointment from the council itself.Keeping in mind that I'm not the only ruler of the realm, after all it's not called the realm of the dragon kings for nothing, and I'm just one king.
Emrys assured me that the moment the temples were activated, the realm has been growing, drawing forth essence of creation from the seventh layer universe to speed up it's growth. And the more land is added, in much the same manner Ethernalia Leonis was brought here, the faster it expands. Which is to say this place would grow to be a large world one day, and reminiscent of earth, it is designed to have seven continents with one massive floating continent to serve as the collective domain of the dragon kings.
I don't really know how big the realm is at the moment, but in preparation for when the other kings and queens would join us, Rhea and Baeki don't count at the moment. I've made a few changes to the normal nobility ranks to account for the power they are also sure to hold. Instead of just being King, it's now stated as high king, a position that would be shared with the rest of the six other dragon kings, along with Baeki and Rhea. Then just below the ranks of high king and queen, would be the grand prince and princess ranks, which would be held by the children of the high kings. From then on, a stable nobility rank is formed.
• High King & Queen
• Grand Prince & Princess
• Arch Duke & Duchess
• Grand Duke & Duchess
• Duke & Duchess
• Marquis & Marquess
• Count & Countess
• Viscount & Viscountess
• Baron & Baroness
• Knight.
Ten ranks in all, and to get on that ladder, you would have to struggle and contribute your all for the country. Unfortunately all these titles are hereditary, which is to say an angel father might end up with a scumbag son or daughter and make life very difficult for the people who live and serve under them. Each nobility rank is allowed to foster a private force of their own, but all under a certain limit. An arch duke can't have more than 10,000 soldiers, and it drops by two thousand for every rank below that, until it gets to Baron that can only own 500 and a knight that can't have more than 150 followers.
As much as I hate to admit it, the reason I and the rest of the council, after much deliberation and a lot of yelling on my part since I wanted to foster peace, was to make sure that there was competition between the ruling class. Apart from the fact that it promotes growth in both power and strength, it makes sure that the power they hold does not grow larger than the High kings and queen can handle.
Peace might seem like a really nice thing to have, but there's nothing peaceful about our coming future. And since every member of the council is already aware of the darkness that's coming, and the turn that the universe would take, they felt that this was a good plan. Also we also had to make the path to nobility ascension was seemingly easy, but also incredibly hard.
For a knight to be a Baron, he has to conquer ten other knights and their lands and have them swear fealty to him. And for a Baron to become a Viscount, he needs ten other 8 other Barons to swear fealty to him. A Viscount needs six other discounts to be a count, a count need five to be a marquise and a marquise need 4 to be a duke, a duke needs 3 other dukes to be a grand duke. But from here on out shit gets a little hard.
A grand duke has to have sufficient contribution to the country, and have a public approval rating of at least 75 and the favor of a high king or queen to become and arch duke. And that's when the ladder ends. Above the arch duke, is the prince or princess of the country, above that is high king and queen. But there is the council which, if I have to be honest has grown in scope and size, and I believe would actually transcend to become the real rulers of the realm once the dragon kings have to leave to complete their duty.
Apart from the children of the dragon kings, the council would have full power regardless of which continent any member of the council is from. There are twenty four seats to be filled, and right now, the dragons, giants, Nephilim, dark elves, Serpentis, vampires, gnomes, and humans have already taken a seat each, which means we need 18 more races, but I'll leave that to the other kings to fill.
Though the gnomes have not yet sent their representative as they're still under deliberation, as one of the original races that lived in the former mountain ranges of Noxis Nix, and a big help to the survival of the vampires over the years, I felt that it was only right that they had a seat too.
Also those guys a freaking amazing engineers and have been taken care of the city and it's massive mechanical under city quite well. And they build really cool buildings, and awesome machines, they're a plus in my book.
But with the council up and running, and my people beginning to expand across the realm itself, building new villages and towns as they chose different place to settle, a lot things seemed to be taking care of itself. The mineral mountain was also transported to the realm, and since it was actually, according to a research team of dragons; the falling corpse of earth attributed god, it had fundamentally changed the entire make up of the realm, and the mountain itself was currently expanding, and creating veins and natural mines of natural resources across the realm. Which is to say, there's not going to be a shortage of ores, or Daseinite which people are now calling blood of gods, to help improve and create new things for the betterment of everyone else lives.
Also the world tree had grown, and communications with him has been really sparse if not completely negligent.
According to Emrys, the world tree was now connected to the very essence of the universe itself, and now it would be a source of energy for the entire realm, making this place rich in Mana and ether, giving everything and everyone a more powerful constitution. And the deal breaker is that fact that the moment we moved here, the original dungeon was fundamentally changed, with each floors becoming tiny pocket dimensions catered to a particular species, and as the tree grew larger, it's roots forming a natural ever expanding wall for Ethernalia Leonis, so too do those pocket dimensions.
The dungeon could no longer be accessed from underneath the palace, but rather from a transportation system uniquely belonging to world tree, Nefisat and surprisingly Sore and. Which is to say the dungeon itself and the creation of new species would still continue under the supervision of Soren and Nefisat who have also grown stronger with the move.
Somehow all three of them have become inexplicably connected to each other, becoming what Emrys calls the guardian spirits of the realm. Which means Soren can no longer be my ride, which is quite good considering he was now twenty feet tall and very much flesh and blood rather than gold. So many changes happened the moment we came here, and I was so swarmed with work I couldn't experience most of them, and had no choice but to hear about it. This sucks.
The space ships were done being built, when you have a portable 5d printer capable of creating parts from scratch, with magical properties imbued in them, then construction would really fast. And that's thanks to Nefisat, of course she was just responsible for printing the parts out, assembly and design was all under the control of Malek and the dragons, and based on what I'vethere has been a lot of creative differences.
But that seems to have ended after Malek took on a new dragon bride, which should make it the 17th time he's getting married. Wish I could have a harem just like him, but with Asha and Xaseah breathing down my neck, even the though would spell my doom. I can only live my grand aspirations to my little boy, his sister would not share a man with another woman, call me a hypocrite but that's my baby girl. And her dad is an all powerful dragon/vampire king. She can have as many men as she wants...or women, depends on her choice.
Why am I worrying about something that's like a hundred years in the future, shit! That probably because they're growing too fast. Xaseah reckon that they'll speak their first words any day from now…..I hope it's Dada. That way I'll get bragging rights over Asha and Xaseah.
Well back to work, with the nobility ranks taken care of, the military ranks followed. But that's was a little tricky seeing as the military has one too many sub divisions and three main divisions. The Navy, Air force and the Army itself are the main divisions. And then under the army there's the all the previous sub divisions made. And now the air force and navy would be forming theirs soon enough.
Though to be honest I'm a little biased when it comes to the air force, but I decide that all the divisions would just have the same ranks. The only distinction would be that they would identify which division they're from. The ranks are;
• Grand General
• General
• Lieutenant General
• Major General
• Colonel
• Major
• Captain
• Lieutenant
• Second Lieutenant
• Sargent
• Private
• Cadet
Twelve ranks in all which should make things a whole lot easier. Going up in rank for the Army is a whole lot easier, sometimes it's based on merit, others would have been in a position long enough that the higher ups would feel it was time for he or she to come up and play with the big dogs.
Anyway the moment a soldier obtains the rank of captain, they automatically becomes a Major making him or her an official noble of the kingdom, and a piece of land would be allocated to them, along with a noble crest with a chosen insignia or symbols that would belong to their noble house. Also the crest which is an off shoot of mine, that also changed for some reason to be something only a noble and specific divisions in the army can have, would have to be cultivated by the noble, creating a bloodline with specific abilities unique to that noble family.Everything seems to be taking care of it itself.
Also Asha wanted to reform the school, and also create a mage ranking system.
However Baeki talked her out of it, and that's because her husband is currently stuck in a tower that's the most extensive college for any and all magical classes. So the mage ranking system would be decided when Baeki go rescues him, and the tower is transported here. Baeki had given the timeline of a year, just in time for the current batch of students to graduate and seek higher education. Which was why we were all in a hurry to get the space ships up and running.
Tomorrow test flights would be carried out, and also tomorrow I would have to carry out an important ceremony for my children, both Asha and I...a bloodline transference ceremony whatever the heck that is. But one thing has me worried, Emrys said it was going to hurt a lot, but I'm just not sure what or who he meant. Either way I'm putting this pen down now, I need to sleep.
