Waking up, the 2 girls to his sides was still asleep. Looking at the clock on the wall, it turned out that he had only slept for 4 hours.
Carefully getting out of the bed, he opened up the closet that Hibari had gifted to him and choose clothes that he would've personally bought if he had the money.
In a casual grey t-shirt, black sweatpants, and a pair of blue shoes, Xavier walked out of the room. Slowly he closed the door.
Xavier started walking down the stairs down to the first floor. There was an array of keys hanged up by the door.
He grabbed Hibari's keys and then left the mansion. Xavier made his way to the backyard of the mansion which was a giant empty plain of grass.
Xavier stretched and cracked his body. Getting into proper form, he started running.
Running from one side of the mansion to the other, Xavier was doing his morning jog but in a more confined space.
Back and forth, back and forth. He repeated this process a lot of times before he looked at his shirt and felt that he was just about done for the day.
His grey tee looked like it was about to become a black one if he was to continue to run. Slowing down his legs, Xavier transitioned to walking.
He walked for a few minutes letting his heartbeat calm down before stopping completely.
Xavier felt a presence looking at him. He turned around and looked but he didn't see anyone near him.
Then looking over at the mansion, he noticed a pair of eyes staring at him. It was hard to make out who it was or what color the eyes were as it was still pretty dark out.
The eyes closed and then disappeared from Xavier's line of sight.
A little creeped out, Xavier jogged his way to the front of the mansion. He then clicked on the button connected to the lanyard and the door opened. He walked in.
At the entrance of the house, there was a table. On that table was another pair of clothes Xavier had prepared to change in after showering.
He picked up the clothes, took off his shoes, and threw the keys back in place.
Xavier made his way to the third floor. He entered the bathroom and started filling up the bathtub.
Taking off his wet clothes and throwing them in the hole that Hako made him throw his suit in as well.
Xavier hopped in the shower and laid down. The water reached his stomach but kept rising until it was to his neck.
The water felt so good after a sweaty run that it made him sleepy. Xavier closed his eyes and dozed off.
In his dreams, he was back in the slums. It was back when he was not a day over 5 years old. His father had came home to their makeshift shelter.
In his hands, was an empty bottle. He was walking like he was about to fall every step.
He jumped onto the only bed they had. He started singing. Xavier didn't know the song but he hated it. It sounded like a song that old people sing when they're drunk reminiscing about when they were younger.
His mother came back an hour later. The dad, still drunk and awake asked his mother where she was the whole time.
She answered that she was begging for money.
Not believing in her words, the father got mad. He grabbed the empty bottle and was ready to hit the mother.
But her face and body was too precious to him. He couldn't hit her. But he needed to hit someone or else he wouldn't be able to calm down.
Turning over to Xavier who was sleeping, he smashed the bottle as hard as he could on his head.
Bleeding, Xavier who was faking his sleep didn't get up. He fainted from the damage done to his head.
His body was twitching.
Waking up from his dream, Xavier got up and flushed the water down. Not a stranger to showers, he put a 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner in his hair.
He rubbed his whole body with soap. Then he turned on the shower and washed out the soap and shampoo.
He closed his eyes and felt the water hitting his face. The water would then flow down from his chest, to his stomach, to his thighs, then his calves, all the way to his feet before touching the bathtub.
When his body was thoroughly clean, he dried himself off with one of the many towels. He put his outfit on.
He was wearing similar clothes to before. A black t-shirt, black pants, and white shoes. The only thing he regretted not grabbing from his home at the slums was his toothbrush and toothpaste.
Looking in the closets and cabinets in the bathroom, he founded never used toothbrushes.
Taking one of them, he made his way over to the sink. Squeezing some toothpaste on the toothbrush, Xavier started to brush his teeth.
The feeling on his teeth was strange. It was minty and fresh, which felt nothing like the toothpaste he would use back in the slums.
When he finished cleaning everything in his mouth, he washed the brush and then rinsed his mouth.
A little splash of water on his face and he was done.
Looking at mirror, there was the unrecognizable person he had become. Xavier had only saw this person 2 times including this one.
The person looking at him was him and yet, it wasn't. It was the same soul but the 2 people shared nothing in common.
One was ugly. The other handsome. One would beg. The other was gifted things. One would starve. The other ate great food. One would feel like dying. The other felt like he was in heaven.
These 2 people had not a single thing in common other than their name, and the soul that lives in their bodies.
Drying his face, Xavier left the bathroom.
Walking into Hako's room because of curiosity, there was many signs showing him what had happened yesterday.
Her room was extremely childish. The walls and ceiling were pink with flowers painted all over them.
One side of the room had a whole row of teddy bears of all colors. Her bed was the only normal thing.
Opening her closet, he saw a bunch of animal pajamas, bunch of school uniforms, a lot of cosmetics that a middle schooler, no, a grade schooler would wear.
He closed the closet and left the room. Everyone was starting to wake up.
Xavier noticed Vena leaving her room on the second floor as well as Gamella who walked to another room and kicked on the door.
When the door didn't open, Gamella entered and pretty soon, screams could be heard.
Gamella left the room with Mineko in her hand. One by one, everyone left their rooms and started walking down to the first floor.
Penny who was also on the third floor and in her pajamas, walked over to Xavier who was watching from the stairs.
"Good morning," she said as she walked over to his side. She looked over and watched the people in the mansion moving about.
Xavier who didn't notice her said, "Good morning." Hibari and Hako left Hibari's room.
"What are they sleeping together for? Shouldn't you be sleeping with Hibari?" Penny asked also noticing.
Xavier didn't answer for a bit before saying, "I was."
Penny came to a realization. She didn't say anything and just smiled. She laid her head on the railing.
Xavier felt her blue eyes staring at him. It was almost smiling.
He didn't know what to say at that moment to break the awkwardness other than asking her, "Where are they going?"
"They're going to go brush their teeth together. It's tradition in this mansion that we do everything together in the morning. After 9 is when we do things individually," Penny answered.
"You're really good at Japanese," Xavier said amazed at how well the British lady could speak.
"Thank you very much. Didn't take a year in Japanese class for nothing."
Xavier was even more amazed by her. A year and she was this fluent with the language? She was talented. "That's impressive to be so good after a year only."
"Thanks for the compliment but—I live with Japanese speaking people so—anyone would be as fluent as me."
Xavier felt that she was being too humble.
Remembering something that happened the night before he asked, "Is the owner of the restaurant dead or alive?"
Penny didn't expect such a question. She thought for sure she kept it well hidden especially from him. "He's alive—barely. How do you know about that?"
"I lived in a place with people constantly angry all the time so—telling who's secretly angry came naturally to me," Xavier said in the same way Penny did. "You became mad when you peeked at me and Hibari so something must've happened when you did. I simply made an educated guess on what happened and voila."
"So you're not dumb," Penny whispered in a volume that Xavier could hear. "Wait you knew I was peeking?"
"Who needs that long to pick up a fork?" Xavier asked as he chuckled a little.
Penny nodded her head realizing her mistake. She asked him, "Shall we head downstairs?"
