Cedric could see anticipation plastered all over Brione's face. He knew where she was going with her question, but he took his time before replying, "Alright. I do have amnesia and yes it's connected to the incident that happened a year ago.
A group of terrorists managed to enter the palace and kidnapped me. They dragged me into the ocean. According to the perpetrators' statement, I somehow managed to escape from their captivity and jumped into the ocean but at that time the weather was bad and there was a thunderstorm. I don't remember the actual details vividly, but I keep having this dream of me drowning and trying hard to swim back up from deep seawater.
A search party was organized to look for me and it took them days to find me and then only because Shadow and Moon led them to where I was. This incident took place at Perdu Island. It turns out that I managed to swim back home but I had been badly hit on my head and that caused my amnesia.
I know you must be thinking that I am that person called Gavin but you're wrong again..."
"No, you don't understand. The ship that Gavin boarded… The ship was going to have a stopover at this island, so there's a high possibility that he managed to swim towards this island… a high possibility that you are Gavin who had been washed away here!" Brione insisted.
Cedric shook his head and asked, "And what happened to The Prince then, Brione? Where is The Prince?"
"I am Cedric, Brione and not Gavin. It's time for you to let Gavin go, Bri," Cedric whispered weakly.
"No! You're wrong. The Prince could be dead too! I don't know about the Prince! Maybe his body was eaten by the ocean sharks, maybe he drowned in the deep sea never to be found again, but I'm sure you are Gavin. I can feel it... You're not dead!" Brione insisted. Her voice started to crack as tears finally flowed down her eyes. She tried controlling her emotions but she could not help it.
"You have amnesia, that's why you can't remember it," she whispered, not taking her eyes away from him. She grabbed Cedric's hand and whispered, "I know I'm right. I can feel that you're Gavin. We can do a DNA test for you and Uncle Damiel to prove it, Gavin."
That was it! Cedric finally snapped, hearing Brione call him Gavin.
With a dark face, he said firmly, "Stop this nonsense, Bri. I told you, I'm not Gavin. If you want you can ask Will about my DNA result with my father 'The King'! You can have your brother check the authenticity of the result confidentially. And if you're still not convinced then I'm ready to do a DNA test again with that Uncle Damiel you keep mentioning.
I know you long for Gavin but this is too much already! I can't let you see me as a shadow of another man Brione! This is very unfair to me! I will take your leave now. You can talk to Will about the DNA testing and he and I will cooperate well with you."
Cedric stood up and left Brione's room that instant. He felt hurt but he knew this would come sooner or later. Brione must know the truth and when she looks at him, she must do so without thinking about another man.
Brione wiped her tears and immediately grabbed her mobile phone to call her brother. Noah immediately sent a private team to Perdu island to get the required sample.
Like Cedric promised he fully cooperated with them and provided the things Brione's brother required. She was embarrassed and she could not even look Cedric in his eyes while a professional in the laboratory suite was getting samples from him.
"I'm sorry about this," was all she could whisper when she left Cedric's room. Will sighed and looked at Cedric pitifully and said, "Your father will kill us both if he finds out about this."
Cedric chuckled and said, "Only you Will. He won't kill his son and only heir."
Will could only crumple his face on this shameless confidence of Cedric.
"She told me to go away…" Will mumbled.
Cedric laughed and said, "You should have stayed! I really don't understand you. You obviously like her but you're too slow in making a move."
"I just don't want to become a rebound knowing she loves only one man!" Will grunted, not realizing he hit Cedric on the spot. Because he was only a rebound since Brione loved Gavin. He was really hurting with that fact.
"How long before Brione will find out the result?" Cedric changed the topic instead.
Will sighed and said, "A few hours. Just 5 to 6 hours at most."
Cedric looked at his wristwatch and whispered, "that's around 9 to 10 in the evening."
"I guess we will have dinner together my Prince," Will said in a jest to lighten up the mood. Both women, Brione nor Olivia, were in no mood to join His Highness so he was the only one left to accompany him.
Cedric sighed and said, "I will eat alone Will. You go eat with Olivia, okay!"
"But if she did not want me to?" Will mumbled. Cedric frowned and said, "Just try alright! Go now and leave me alone."
Cedric was anxiously waiting and constantly thinking about what Brione would do once she found out the results of the DNA test. He was sure about the results already and what worried him was the thought if she would cancel the agreement she signed and run away from him?
The timeless wait was killing him and a few hours passed and he could not even eat dinner properly.
The same was the condition of Brione, she kept her mobile phone in her hand waiting for her brother's call. It was past ten when her mobile phone rang. She sat on her bed and quickly answered it.
"Brione, it's not a match… He is not Gavin..." Those were her brother's words before she hung up the phone.
Brione felt devastated, she bit her lip and whispered, "it can't be," while looking at Gavin's journal on her bedside table. Was she really wrong? Did she need to stop at this point now?
"Gavin, are you really gone?" she whispered weakly as she grabbed the journal and opened it. Then her eyes froze as she reread a part of what Gavin wrote in there.
She immediately stood up from her bed and rushed out from her room towards the Prince's room.
'That's it! If he's able to kiss me… Then he is Gavin and I won't stop here! I will prove that you're alive Gavin and it's you not the Prince!'
She would do anything… just to prove that her claim was right because her heart would not stop insisting that Cedric was actually Gavin!
