A cold breeze swept my nose, and I sneezed, waking me from my slumber. I opened my eyes and saw the orange sky and green trees.
Right, I'm at Central Park . . .
Didn't want to get up from my warm, soft cushion grass bed, I shifted my eyes to the person sitting beside me. He was busy typing on his laptop and didn't notice me staring at him. He was clearly under the warm dusk of the sun, but his entire body was cloaked in layers of ancient, everlasting ice.
He noticed my gaze as he lifted his crystal clear, aquamarine eyes. His frosty look pierced right through me before his layer of ice melted, and the corner of his lips curled up.
"It's cold at night, put on the coat," he said. Such icy cold voice carried a trace of undetectable concern.
I sat and felt a drool on my lips. Embarrassed, I swiftly wiped it off and pretended that nothing happened. "What time is it?"
"Past six. Are you hungry? Let's go grab something to eat." He closed his laptop and put it inside his bag.
He lent a hand to me after he got up. I held his warm, callus hand and he pulled me to my feet.
Achoo!
I sneezed when the cold breeze blew my way. I shivered and embraced myself.
"Put on the coat," he ordered.
I put on his trench coat, and warmth engulfed me. It was comfortable. His jacket had his scent, and I thought that he was the one embracing me.
. . .
. . .
No! No! No! No!
I shook my head, shaking off the idea.
Cain shot me a look, amusement in his eyes. "Are you alright?"
He stepped towards me, and I stepped back in response, putting distance between us. "I'm fine."
He stared at me for a moment before he turned and walked ahead while I followed behind him.
When we were finally inside his car, I said, hurry in my voice, "I want to go home. I have some urgent things to do." Which wasn't a lie. I have to read the proposal of Azuela Cove for tomorrow's meeting.
. . .
. . .
. . . Okay! I also don't want to have dinner with him for I'm afraid that he'll say something that'll make me choke.
Cain held my eyes with his cold, piercing gaze that made me feel uncomfortable.
"Alright," he said after the never-ending silence between us.
He started the engine, and we made our way home.

On the way to my condo, I grabbed my phone to pass the awkward silence inside his car. It surprised me that I had many missed calls and it was all from Zhander.
What does he want?
I was about to message him when my phone vibrated, and his number appeared.
Startled, I almost dropped my phone.
I was contemplating whether to answer or not and took a peek at Cain. The man didn't seem to care as he drove in silence.
Thinking it was something important, I answered.
