[Leanna's POV]
[Feed Me!]
What's going on?
Why is he following me!
I hurried and widened my steps, pretending not to notice that Cain was following behind me. It was hard not to notice him, especially with his presence that demanded attention and respect. I knew all eyes were probably watching his every move.
I didn't want to take a peek, but my body betrayed me. While I was half running, he was just walking behind, not a care in the world. His gaze, not living me for a second.
Then the corner of my eye caught a cuddly white fur at my feet.
! ! ! !
Realization dawned on me.
He's using little Pluffy to get closer to me in public!
I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at my helpless situation. I couldn't talk nor shove the little cute, cuddly guy away from my feet. I couldn't even imagine myself hurting the little furball. I was so sure Cain knew of this too and thus, using the little puff of fur to get to me as an excuse to follow me around because his pet was following me!
What a cunning man!
I bit back a smile and giggled at the thought.
He was resourceful than I thought.
I didn't know what to feel at the moment. Part of me was happy while I was drowning with giggly feelings. The other half was frustration for he might gave our relationship away.
As soon as I reached the sandwich stall, I ordered two sandwiches without thinking. It was too late when I realized my mistake when the food vendor handed me the sandwiches.
I glanced over at Cain and found him meters away behind me. He was just staring at me with mischief in his eyes and a slight grin on his lips.
Not just him, I knew a lot of people around us were taking glances at me in secret. The women's squinting eyes were warning me to be careful of my next move.
N-now what?!
Should I pretend and give this to little Pluffy? I shook the idea out of my head in an instant. I'm strict when it comes to little Pluffy's diet. I didn't want to give him any human food.
That's right! Zoe!
I shifted my head, hoping my last line of defense was around. But found that my ever so loyal comrade in arms was buying her own food at the next stall while she shot me a wink and a wicked grin, dangling her food in front of me.
Traitor!
Estela!
I glanced to where Estela was, but the girl was lost in her own little world as Zhander fed her food. Her face was dreamy and the silly smile on her lips meant that she was too far gone in her fantasy. No one could bring her back to reality now.
Ahem!
My eyes flicked to the food vendor. His eyebrow raised while his face was impatient, signaling me to leave and make way for the other customers.
I bit my lip and lowered my head as I meekly left the stall, determined not to meet Cain's eyes as I walked passed him.
But as I expected, he wouldn't let me go just like that. Of course he wouldn't. When did he ever left me off the hook?
He blocked my path. Still, my eyes remained fixated on the ground, pretending that he was invincible.
"Aren't you going to feed me?"
I gasped and snapped my head at him, eyes wide as I met his gaze. My whole system was shocked by his sudden demand, but the next thing he did almost made me faint.
He grabbed my hand that held the sandwich and fed himself.
. . .
. . .
It was dead silent as everyone gaped at the intimate scene.
My soul was roughly pulled back when Cain's moist tongue licked my fingers clean while the intensity in his eyes was burning me on the spot.
When did he finish his food?
I pulled my hand back from his grasp. Cain didn't mind as he licked his thumb and my soul flew again when he pressed his moist thumb against my lips.
"My thank you for feeding me," he said as he tilted his head to the side, and flashed me a coy smile.
The women's jaws dropped as they pressed their thighs together. Needing friction I bet.
I know . . .
Oh, I know . . .
Because I'm feeling it too!
This walking aphrodisiac!
I was still lost in the hazy fog of denial as I placed my sandwich on Cain's palm and then like a crazy woman –– ran towards the waves, determined to drown myself. Never to be found again.
Everything was over!

[Leanna's POV]
[Public]
"Wow . . . *munch . . . You should . . . *slurp . . . see your . . . *munch . . . face," Zoe said between chomping her food.
I sat beside her, ignoring her sarcastic remarks as I was busy gasping for air after I finished cooling my body in the salty water.
"I don't know why you're so desperate to hide your relationship with Cain Fay." Zoe licked her fingers and burped before looking at me. "You could have saved yourself a lot of troubles if you have been open like Estela."
She pointed her finger towards Cain, who was sitting not far from us while his eyes never left me.
I blushed and retracted my gaze.
Wait, where did Estela and Zhander go?
"Don't those flies irritate you?" Zoe jabbed her finger at Cain's direction again.
I noticed countless women were whistling, trying their hardest to grab little Pluffy's attention who was beside the cold man. But the little furball ignored them all. Like his master –– the furball's undivided attention was on me like any moment now, he would bolt in my direction if not for Cain's tight hold on him.
"What . . . *huff . . . are they . . . *huff . . . doing?" I asked between breaths.
"Since Estela is hard to befriend with, they think that the other way for Cain Fay to notice them is through hairy little squirt."
I shook my head and laughed a little.
"Honestly, though, why keep it a secret?" Zoe asked.
I sighed and locked my gaze forward.
"I want a peaceful life, for him and me," I answered, which made Zoe's eyebrow arched.
"Haven't you realized it yet? Even you keep it a secret, from the start, your life was never peaceful to begin with. So what's the use of keeping it a secret?"
. . . Ah!
My eyes widened at the realization.
That's right!
Even without announcing to the world about our relationship, from the beginning, because of those rumors, my life was indeed far from peaceful. And thanks to Holly fanning the flames, I became popular in an infamous way.
I stared at Zoe, eyes wide as they could stretch, and the girl smirked right back at me.
"Where are you going?!" I asked when Zoe stood and was about to leave.
"I'm going to date myself."
"What? I thought we're going to do some fun things together?"
"Girlfriend, I know you wanted to do fun things with him instead." Zoe winked and waved her hand. "Let's meet up in the hotel later when it's time for the party."
"Wha––Zoe!"
I called, but the girl was already meters away.
I gulped when I felt Cain's presence beside me. Then something warm landed on my shoulders and found that the man draped my cover-up on my body.
My cheeks felt warm as I resisted the urge to glance at him. I forced my attention on little Pluffy, who was now jumping on my knees, wagging his tail.
"I'm sorry . . . ," Cain whispered.
Thump
What? Why is he apologizing?
"I couldn't restrain myself. I know you wanted to keep our relationship . . . private."
Knowing that he was just beside me made me conscious.
"Leanna . . ."
I gasped when his tone turned pleading. I wanted to look at him, but my body was paralyzed, unable to move the moment his pleading voice caressed my ears.
"I'll go back to New Haven and won't disturb you anymore."
. . .
. . .
W-what?! No!
I was lost in the smoothness of his voice that it took me a while to register what he said. When my body finally moved, I faced him, but he was already walking away with little Pluffy.
He still had this overpowering air around him, but somehow, I was lonely as I stared at his back. His shoulders slumped as his head was low, and my heart tightened.
CAIN!
My voice echoed, shocking everyone, making me the center of attention.
I didn't care.
I didn't care anymore!
I bolted to him and hugged his back. His muscles tightened beneath my hold. I knew he was stunned at my sudden move.
"Don't go . . . ," I whispered.
". . ."
"Leanna . . . , there's a private island not far from here. Do you want to go . . . together? Just the two of us . . ."
His happiness was contagious, and I smiled and nodded.
I let him go, and Cain held my hand.
Like that, we walked hand in hand, side by side in front of so many dumbfounded crowds –– lost in our reality.
