The first round of attacks caused by the three mages from the Templar Code finally stopped. Behind the thick smoke, the Quilin had not made any sound nor movements.
After three seconds, when there was still no activity behind the smoke, the mage with the spear finally moved.
"Cover for me," he told his comrades without looking at them.
With great caution, he approached the smoke-filled area where the Quilin was. He brandished his golden spear to the side and roused his magic, preparing an attack if the beast would make a sneak attack.
However, after two meters, he felt a tinge of coldness at his nape. This coldness was not because he suddenly felt nervous, but because he felt an incoming danger!
"Incoming!" The mage with the spear exclaimed as he turned around and looked at their back.
True to his instinct, fifty meters from him, he sensed a fast approaching unknown object.
It was unknown because he could not sense what it was.
The other two mages also turned and readied their weapons.
However.
A black shadow appeared before the mage with the bow.
Before she could react, something heavy slammed on her stomach.
"Guh!" She spat out a mouthful of blood and got thrown back.
"Dess!" The other two mages shouted in shock.
The two of them did not see what hit her because it disappeared as soon as it made contact. More importantly, though she was hit by something moving at an unbelievable speed, one blow should not be able to destroy her physical and magic defenses. After all, she was wearing one of the top armor of the Templar Code.
Dess, the mage with the bow, slammed at the valley's steep wall.
The mage with the long staff raised his arms and prepared to cast additional defenses for him and the mage with the spear.
It was the same with the mage with the spear. His eyes flashed as he released his magic pressure. Using his unique ability, he immediately scanned the surrounding for the unknown object's location.
Though they were worried about Dess, they had to deal with the sudden ambush first. Besides, she was also an elite mage of the Templar Code. Even if she suffered from this blow, it would not discourage her.
A green magic array slowly formed in front of him and the mage with the spear.
CRACK! BAM!
Not knowing what hit him, the mage with the long staff could only stare in disbelieve as his weapon broke in half. The force that broke his staff also penetrated all his defenses as his armor was smashed into pieces.
"Guh!"
Just like Dess, as soon as his armor was destroyed, he spat out a mouthful of blood and was thrown to the other side of the valley's steep wall.
"Quinne—!"
He stopped short when a shadow suddenly blocked the sun from above. By reflex, he immediately moved, whirled his spear horizontally, and held it on both his hands. Then he lifted it just in time to block the incoming attack.
CRACK!
"Wha—! Ugh!"
The spear's body broke, and right after, something heavy and solid fell on top of his head, forcing him down on the ground.
Of course, this unknown object that attacked the three of them was none other than Kyran.
Kyran watched as the mage with the now-broken golden spear crashed with a loud thud on the ground. His expression was full of disappointment.
'What the... how come they are so weak?' Kyran thought with a slight frown as he fell to the ground.
He was actually prepared to go all out when he decided to attack them. For this reason, he was prepared to unleash 100% of the Regis Blessing's capability. But first, he decided to use 30% of his strength so that he would not alarm the Quilin.
When Kyran considered who to take down first, he initially wanted to go after the mage with the long staff because he appeared to be a powerful support for the other two. But since the mage with the bow was the nearest, and he did not like his— err her large area arrow attack, he went after her first. But he did not expect her to go down in one hit.
After Kyran took her down, he went after the support guy. He even felt pressured because he was afraid the spear guy would be able to match his speed and intercept him. But to his surprise, not only did he succeed in getting close to the support guy, but he also took him down and destroyed his staff in one blow. He did not even aim for his body, unlike the bow mage.
Finally, when Kyran went after the spear mage, he decided to attack his blind spot instead of a frontal attack. Because he was wary of the spear guy's ability to sense him, his decision to attack from above was correct because the spear guy was able to react even when he could not see him.
But then.
The spear guy was also taken down in one hit.
They were part of the Templar Code's Elite Mages. Why did it feel like he was dealing with cannon fodders? Where was their powerful display when they were dealing with the Quilin?
Kyran felt cheated!
WEEEENG!
Invisible vibrations suddenly erupted from behind the cloud of smoke, clearing it and revealing the Quilin.
The Quilin's scales glowed fiercely and radiated a red tint aura.
Kyran's eyes flashed as he turned and activated the Regis Defensive Technique while utilizing the Regis Blessing.
Silver-colored scales circled Kyran just in time for the first wave of vibrations assault. He had a feeling that this vibration was an upgraded version of the Quilin's shockwave. So he did no longer hesitated and used 100% of the Regis Blessing's capability.
To Kyran's surprise, the silver scales did not falter from the first impact of the vibration. It was completely different from when he used the Void Scales.
'This...'
Before he could process what had happened, a series of vibrations swept in his direction. However, just like the first one, the silver scales remained intact. He did not even move from his position.
RAWRGH!
[Die, you annoying humans!]
Kyran looked at the Quilin. This time, he was sure he heard it right. For some reason, he could understand the Quilin.
The Quilin's horn glowed as a whirlpool of dark red energy converged at the tip. It grew at an alarming rate, and once the size reached a two-meter radius, the Quilin galloped and released the ball of energy toward Kyran's direction.
Kyran calmly looked at the incoming ball of energy. He was not even in a hurry to evade. Instead, he looked at the small crater a few feet in front of him.
This crater was where the spear mage got buried after his attack. There was blood on the crater's opening, and Kyran knew the spear mage had been shaken to death by the Quilin's vibration.
Then he looked at the steep walls where the other two mages he attacked got buried. Just like the crater, the crack on the wall was now dripping with blood.
The three elite mages of the Templar Code met an untimely death.
But Kyran did not check on them because he was worried about them. He only wanted to confirm if they died from the Quilin's attack.
Now that he was sure they did not survive from it, it meant he no longer had to hide his magic.
With a distance of four meters before the ball of energy reached Kyran, he finally released the cloaking array and the Regis Defensive Technique. His eyes glowed silver as he stomped his right foot on the ground and twisted his body to the left.
Silver energy formed around his left fist as he drew his arm.
Finally, when the Quilin's ball of energy arrived in front of Kyran, he unleashed his fist and hit the ball with his bare hand.
A small hole appeared on the ball of energy as Kyran's fit hit its surface. Then the silver energy that covered his fist erupted and destroyed the ball of energy.
A massive explosion followed, shaking the whole valley. Clouds of dust and smoke filled the surrounding.
RAWRGH!
[Impossible!]
Fear filled the Quilin. Before it could react to what had happened, it sensed an ominous presence right in front.
BAM!
A powerful force erupted in front of the Quilin, hitting it square on the face.
It was too sudden that the Quilin failed to put up its defenses.
RAWRGH!
The Quilin roared as it got thrown back. However, true to its nature of being an epic-type beast, it was able to regain its balance and immediately summoned its defenses.
But it was a second late.
The ominous presence appeared just below its chin, and a powerful force erupted, hitting it crook of its chin and neck.
RAWRGH!
The Quilin roared in pain as its head was drawn back by the force's impact.
