Kyran looked at Zephyr with a slight frown as he asked, "What?"
Instead of answering aloud, Zephyr answered him telepathically.
[That is the Heaven's Conch.]
Kyran did not reply and continued to look at Zephyr with raised brows.
Zephyr sighed in his heart. He already knew that his new master had little knowledge about his two magic. Since Kyran was a Regis, he knew some of the Dragon Lord's history. However, Zephyr found that what the Regis learned about the Dragon Lord was superficial. Even the supposed Regis Blessing was different. The Regis believed that the dragon blood that talented family members consumed enabled them to practice Dragon Techniques. And when activating the Regis Blessing, their body would get a sudden boost, and their physical strength could manifest 1% of a dragon's might.
In truth, the reason why the dragon blood could help a Regis use Dragon Techniques was that the blood awakens the sleeping 'core' the Dragon King had granted to the Dragon Lord's descendants. When others tried to consume the dragon's blood, they would end up dead. As for the so-called Regis Blessing, it was the gift to use Draconic Magic. However, few Regis's could have it. Once their sleeping core awakens, if it held even a sliver of the Dragon Lord's experience, then they could develop the core and use Dragon Magic.
Putting this information aside, the reason for Zephyr's agitation was the item in Kyran's hand. He did not sense it earlier because the Ice Orb concealed the aura within, but the moment Kyran touched it, as his Sigil, Zephyr felt and recognized it at once.
Seeing the blank expression on Kyran's face, Zephyr felt helpless.
[Seriously, master. You need to get your history and facts straight!]
Kyran's expression turned cold. He remained silent as he stared at Zephyr.
Cold sweat immediately trickled down Zephyr's back as he sensed a dangerous aura coming out from Kyran. His master might not know of it, but his silence could invoke fear to anyone looking at him.
With a sigh, Zephyr walked to the empty chair beside Kyran and started to explain the Heaven's Conch.
[The Dragon King gave the Heaven's Conch to the Dragon Lord before leaving this plane. From the memories of my ancestors, it was said that the Dragon King did not want to part with the Dragon Lord, so he left the Heaven's Conch to him, which had the ability to call him. When the other Dragon Venerations heard of it, they were angry because the Heaven's Conch was practically subjecting the King of the Dragon to servitude. Because of this, the Dragon Venerations placed a mark on the Heaven's Conch. If it appears within the human plane, they will sense it and come down to destroy the person who possessed it. Of course, they plan to prevent that person from sounding the conch. Because once it is sounded, the King of the Dragon's will descend, and those Dragon Venerations won't stand a chance even if they combined their powers. Still, it doesn't mean that any Regis could sound the conch. The only one who could sound the conch must possess the same magic signature as the Dragon Lord. In this case, you.]
'But the moment the Dragon King gave this to my ancestor, it already meant it is in a human plane, so why haven't those Dragon Venerations come then?'
Zephyr gave Kyran a bitter smile. His master had to learn his facts properly!
[Have you heard of the Regis Terram?]
Kyran shook his head.
Zephyr sighed and continued.
[The Regis Terram lies in the heart of the Regis Ancestral Land. It is a patch of land... well, according to my ancestor's memories that I have, it is a floating piece of land that does not belong to this plane.]
'What do you mean it does not belong to this plane?'
[It is a land connected to the dragon's plane. That is what it means. Seriously master, whose the Regis descendant here? You should know about this since your clan has been protecting the Regis Terram all these years!]
Kyran scowled at him and immediately summoned a purple disc beneath them.
The moment Zephyr saw the disc, he jumped out of his chair and was about to walk out of its range. However, Kyran was faster, and Zephyr sank into the disc with a mournful yell.
[M-Master! No! I-I was just kidding—!]
When Zephyr disappeared into the disc, they heard a loud thud upstairs with an audible groan.
The others who had been watching them since Zephyr arrived could not help but blink in confusion. They were clueless about what had transpired between the two. Because they only saw them stare at each other. Suddenly Kyran shook his head then scowled. The next thing they knew, he warped Zephyr out of the room.
Kyran heaved a deep sigh as he looked at the Ice Orb in his hand. He could not see what was inside, but if what Zephyr said was true, did that mean the Heaven's Conch was... small? How could anyone sound a conch the size of his palm? No, maybe it was possible, but what kind of sound could it produce?
Nolan cleared his throat, which brought Kyran out of his thoughts.
It was then that Kyran remembered that he and Zephyr had been talking telepathically.
Nolan raised his brows at him and said, "And? What did he say?"
Kyran looked at the Ice Orb and hesitated. In truth, he had not fully digested the information that Zephyr told him.
He had heard Zephyr talk about this plane and that before, but it was the first he specifically said 'human plane' and 'dragon plane.' It made Kyran wonder how many planes were there and how were they connected to each other.
'Wait. There's also the Spirits...'
Something within Kyran stirred. As if he remembered something, and yet he could not fully grasp it. He soon realized that the feeling came from his Void Core.
'This...'
Why would his Void Core stir when he wondered about the connection of different planes?
Nolan snapped his fingers and said, "Kid! Don't zone out on us."
Kyran snapped out of his thoughts and looked at them again.
"Sorry," he apologized before taking a deep breath. He then pursed his lips while looking at the Ice Orb with a complicated expression. He said, "Zephyr said this item... is very dangerous."
The four people sitting around the dining table gave him a blank expression.
"Duh. We know that. If whatshisf*ckngnameagain did not foresee baldie's death because of that item, missy wouldn't have asked my help and exposed myself in the process."
"Huh?"
"What did you say?"
"Foresee?"
"Whose death?"
All four asked at once.
"Ah, geez, can we skip the gory details and just move on? Kid, I've seen the vision. When the Grand Marshal 'touched' that orb and it cracked, countless eyes filled the sky."
"Grand Marshal?"
"Hey! You can't just tell someone was supposed to have died without explaining what is going on!" Gage growled.
It was his first time hearing that Nolan saved him because someone foresaw his death. But instead of explaining it properly, Nolan brushed it off as an insignificant event. When Gage encountered the mage with the shadow magic, he did not think he was the Grand Marshal. Nevertheless, Gage did not plan to die without fighting. Unfortunately, he was too weak. He did not even manage to stay awake until the end.
"Tsk. Fine!" Nolan finally relented.
As much as he liked to speak, it did not mean he enjoyed recounting events that did not even happen. But since baldie wanted to hear the details of his supposed death, then fine. He would tell him every detail he remembered.
Nolan recounted his talk with Stella for the next quarter of an hour. Although he only repeated the part about Gage's gruesome death in the hands of the Grand Marshal, Gage, Silas and Anette's faces changed because of the bloody details he told them. After that, he told them about the appearance of several reptilian eyes in the skies after a crack appeared on the Ice Orb.
Hearing Nolan mentions the reptilian eyes, Kyran knew he had to tell them the truth of the Heaven's Conch. Because if not and the Ice Orb broke, how would he survive once those Dragon Venerations arrived? He might possess Draconic Magic, but what could he do compared to the real ones?
When Nolan was done explaining, Kyran also told them what Zephyr had said. Although he left the part about the Regis Terram and how much the Dragon King did not want to leave the Dragon Lord.
"That thing can make the Dragon Venerations appear?" Silas was the first to break the silence that followed after Kyran finished explaining.
He looked at the Ice Orb in Kyran's hand in disbelief.
Gage was also looking at the Ice Orb but in fear. He had no idea he had such a scary item in his possession!
'Damn you, Silas!' He thought as he glared at Silas.
As a mercenary, Gage had experienced transporting dangerous items before. But none of those dangerous items could compare to this.
Silas could only laugh at him awkwardly. He had no idea it was such a dangerous item. If he knew, well... he would still do the same. After all, it was a request.
"As long as the orb stays intact, they will not appear," Kyran assured them and put the orb in his pouch.
Anette nodded in agreement, "I can also create an addition protection."
She looked at Nolan and added, "Then you can also place an array on it."
"He can do it himself," Nolan replied with a shrug.
Kyran looked at Nolan. For some reason, he sensed Nolan's hostile attitude whenever they talked about him being able to do arrays.
"We can talk more about that later," he said before looking at Gage. "Thank you for keeping it safe."
Gage looked at him dumbfoundedly. He suddenly felt that all the things he discovered today were trivial. What mattered was that he succeeded and delivered the item in good shape.
"Y-Yeah, no problem." He replied.
"Now that we got that out of the way, let's roles about each of your role while Kyran and I leave," Nolan said, bringing their discussion back on track.
He looked at Kyran, who nodded in return.
For the next half an hour, Nolan and Kyran explained the plan they had come up with last night.
