That encounter made Fung on edge for the rest of the day, she barely touches her dinner, easy to freak out and keep jumping at every shadow she saw. When night fall, the teenager asked if she could sleep with her parent. Finding that odd, Fung's parent trying to comfort her and asked if something happened to her. After hear Fung's encounter at the abandoned mansion, and due to the unsolved disappearance of Lan, the parent highly concerns, and plan to bring her to the mayor office to report the incident next morning.

At midnight, an ear piercing shriek shook the house, the parent woke up and found their daughter curled up in a corner of the room, Fung's face pale as a corpse, all teary eyes and trembling uncontrollingly. "Please stop it, please stop it." Fung kept gibbering. After an hour of unstop sobbing, Fung finally mumble about something outside the house is trying to get her. The father checked all the inside and outside the house but nothing was found. Yet Fung still not seem to calm down, worrying, the father fetched the town's physician to have a look at Fung. After the examine, the physician concluded, Fung's physical health is still normal, but she's suffering from extreme stress and anxiety, so he prescribed an herbal tea to help calm Fung's mind and help her sleep. The medicine seems too work as Fung finally able to sleep after took it.

Next day, when the mayor's secretary came to investigate Fung's father report and take Fung's testimony, he finds the girl has vanished and the family is scrambling to find her. According to Fung's father, early in the morning when he goes checks on Fung, he found the front door of the house was wide open, there was no sight of break in, the lock was open from inside and Fung was no trace to be found, the mother said Fung seemingly had recovered a little, she was eating dinner and quite calm when she goes to bed. A search was launched and went nowhere, for 5 days, the town, the forest, the abandoned mansion, all searched. Fung simply took off into the night and vanished. The haunting rumour, of course, exacerbated further and spreading quicker and wider.

Eventually, the rumour came to the capital, and caught ears of the goateed taosih. When he came to the town, yet another incident had happened. To avoid a town wide panic, the mayor had sent his assistance mage to perform an exorcist at the abandoned mansion to ease the mind of the town folk. With a few town guards accompanied the mage, they set out early in the morning. Then the guards return, awfully early and by themselves, with a disturbed face they report. When they're arrived at the abandoned mansion, the mage suddenly froze on the spot, and his eyes turn milky white. Then one of the guards caught a terrible sight. "It's a figure of a small child wearing white clothes, standing at a window of the second floor of the mansion." One of the guards said, "its… its eyes, it's like a bottomless pits of darkness, I…" the guard tremble in recollecting. And so they panic and run for their life, leaved the frozen mage behind. After a while and finally get a hold of themselves, the town guards return to the abandoned mansion and find the mage had vanished.

"Master taosih, as of now, with my assistance mage had gone, I really don't know what to do with this evil anymore, please help us." The mayor interlock fingers and lowed his head, pleading for help.

"Then, can you tell me anything about this mansion? Are there anything happened before Lan's disappearance, any rumour about haunting of any source?" the goateed taosih asked.

"Uh… there is none, master taosih. I never hear anything paranormal in all those years I'm in office. No rumour of any kind, Lan's disappearance just happened out of nowhere, it's like some kind of evil just suddenly move in there." The mayor rubbed his forehead. "I'm just a normal man, and don't know much about magic and arcane matters, I… really don't understand. As of that mansion, it was a vacation mansion of a wealthy man from the capital, and it has been vacant for a long time and felt into disrepair. That's that, the owner of that mansion haven't visit it for years, there was no atrocity or violent event of any kind ever happened there."

"Very well, I'll have a look at that place first thing in tomorrow." The goateed taosih said

"Thank you, master taosih. Do you need some guards for assistance?" the mayor said

"No need, I'll go by myself." The goateed taosih said then took his leave.
