"Do you ever feel like you were degraded with your achievements because you act like a certain way?" Damien stares at me catching me off guard with the question.
"I.. well there have been people that were jealous about what I do and what I accomplish that's why they try to bring them down," I respond.
I stare deeper into Damien as he looks around the room clearly anxious.
"Are you alright?" I reached for his shoulders.
He sighs, "Actually the real reason I was here is that I want to prove people wrong."
"Why what happened?" I ask.
"The story takes place in my Christian household, I knew for a fact how my parents never liked gay people nonetheless crossdressers. When I was outside tutoring a young boy my father saw the woman's clothes I had."
"He snickered and asked if I had a girl in the house and congratulated me for "Growing a pair" I stuck with the idea and each time he finds the woman's clothes I just tell him another woman came over to our house because I never wanted my father to know."
"Did you get a girlfriend?" His dad asks as they sat down in the dining table eating dinner.
"No, dad. I don't plan on getting one." I respond to him.
"Come on... You didn't pick any of the girls that you slept with?" He jokes and laughs as I awkwardly laugh alone...
I always find it strange that fathers want their sons to be pimps while they want their daughters to be total nuns. I just find it really stupid and I cringe at the fact that "Masculine humor" is a thing.
Moving on to my school. I'm the class president and I was mostly respected however I hear slight whispers about me.
"What is this faggot doing here?"
"Can't this fairy just go back to being a failure."
"Shit dude. This guy just wants to get close to the guys to harass them."
"His parents must not be working out that's why he turned out like that."
"Can't believe he chose to be gay. He must be fucking stupid."
"I hope gays like him burn in hell."
"Those were the words they told me."
"Their words. Little by little got to me. It tore me inside and ripped apart my self-confidence. They made me feel like I didn't deserve what I have. They made me feel like I was just stuck and trapped."
"That's why I wanted to work harder. I want to prove to them that I'm not someone that just gives up on life. It's not about how many times you fall down it's about how many times you go up after being dragged down."
Damien's eyes shine with determination and gleaming with confidence. It brings me bliss even through vinegar of his past. Making me jealous of him. He's confident.
"That's why I want to prove to those idiots that I ain't going down in this world. I'll work hard to get what I want. To help every child in need with their education. To lead children to the right path because I do believe that giving a child love and compassion makes it into a knight. Bringing it hatred, bitterness and pain will turn it into a monster."
"That's right!" I agreed with him
He smiles before patting my back. "Better get back to studying Lisa. You know how I'm starting to like you. I usually don't tell my life story to people I just randomly meet. I guess you are an exception?"
I chuckled. "Thank you for trusting me enough to tell me about your past. I know it must be hard for you being degraded and discredited because of your gender identity."
"Like I said to myself. Keep fighting and you'll reach your goals. You should do the same. Fight and never give up. Believe in yourself and you'll eventually reach your goal." He smiles.
He definitely can be a counselor or a therapist when he grows up. Not only is he cute, but he is also nice.. and he's incredibly smart... Could it be that I'm... falling for him...
