76 Chapter 75: No Is A Powerful Word

WELL... I did kind of expect this answer... I mean I don't think Alex is the type of person who lets people walk over him. I mean I remember him telling his backstory about how people looked down on him and he became better to look back at them but I suppose I'll have to change the question...

"What would you do if you're in her situation? Like if you were in her shoes right now, what would you do?" I proceeded to ask him a question. He rolled his eyes, thinking for a bit to answer.

"Hm... you already know the answer to this. If I don't like how I'm being treated. I'm not going to stand for it although if I do want that life of being a masochist then I would stay with it." He explained to me, I put my finger on his lips. Hinting for him to be quiet. His eyes squinted looking directly at me with an annoyed expression.

"What if you couldn't stand up for yourself? Like what if you weren't able to say no? What would you do?" I rephrased my question.

He recoiled his head for a second, putting away the finger I put close to his lips. "If your purpose for asking me these questions is to help that girl then my advice is that she should get some more self-esteem. If she has trouble saying no then she isn't able to fend off for herself. After all, No is a powerful word."

"I guess the problem with her is that she can't say no...." I sighed.

"How do you even know that she doesn't like her current life? I mean this woman is already an adult. I doubt that she is not able to make decisions on her own. It's honestly going to be ridiculous if she doesn't" He responded to me, looking down on my efforts to help the girl.

"Do.. do you not want me to help that girl?" I asked him blatantly, I'm getting the vibes that he's a bit irritated that I'm trying to ask help for that girl.

"That's not what I'm saying at all. What I'm saying is that even if you do help her, your help is not going to go as far if she doesn't do anything herself. Remember that the only one that can help you is yourself and if you refuse to even get help then you are doomed to fail." He responded to me wit the cold heart truth.

I know for a fact that Alex is a no-nonsense man but I guess... I don't think he's the type of person to be able to help in these kinds of situations.

"Hey! Don't go thinking I'm some kind of heartless bastard!" He shouted at me, breaking me from my thought train.

"Oh! Um.. sure..." I responded totally off guard by his sudden shouting. Huh?! Was he just able to read my thoughts like that! IS HE SOME SORT OF PSYCHIC OR SOMETHING??!

"I knew it." He gives me a knowing smirk. Know.... know what?! I'm so scared, I don't know why... um.. why is he looking at me with those sharp eyes...

"You're right! Oh my god! Thank you so much Alex! That's the BEST IDEA I'VE HEARD SO FAR! YOU'RE PRETTY GOOD AT THIS!" My eyes widen as I finally knew what to do! Thanks to Alex!

He blushed a little, hiding his face from embarrassment. "Honestly I didn't even do anything that much so you can stop looking at me like I gave you something brilliant." He sneered at me, giving me a pouty look.

"By the way, you love birds. We're here in your dorm room! Get out!" The old man shouted in front of the car. Calling us love birds. I chuckled at the idea although Alex was not too happy about it.

"You can go on ahead I'll have a very SERIOUS TALK with this old man right here!" Alex told me to go off without him, I chuckled as I went out of the car to hear their mumblings and ramblings from the outside.

Hm... I'm so tired. I should probably go and buy some food from the convenience store. Hopefully, they'll be done rambling and fighting after I got back right? I do hope so though! I decided to take in for a little stroll towards the nearest convenience store. It was already dark out and the roads were illuminated by the lanterns. I can still quite a lot of people outside at this time as I walked to the distance. I see a petite woman with red hair in the distance. She seemed to be holding a phone.

BING! My phone sent me a notification, as I got up to check. I saw a message from Rose. Saying "Can we talk here?"

I responded nonchalantly. "No." I then looked at the person in the distance, giving a dissatisfied smile. She then sends "Please... ;c" Adding a sad face at the end of her text.

Oh. Rose is texting me this time? I guess she thinks that I'm still upset about what happened before and I am actually but I think it's really sweet of her to make an effort to approach me. I should probably give her a chance.

"Why do you want to talk here when we can talk with each other?" I responded, giving the person in the distance a cheeky smile.

The person's eyes light up and slowly ran towards my direction with a hug to greet me. As she got closer, I turned cold on her, giving her minimal eye contact and a dismissive attitude.

"Are... are you still mad at me for what happened at the mall?" She asked me timidly, looking down on her feet.

I didn't respond to her question and just remained silent. Piercing daggers into her being, she sighed and responded to her question. "I'm... sorry.. for being immature and running off all the time and causing trouble for you. I know that I'm an adult and I don't act that way around you. I'm... it's okay if you don't want to be friends with me..." She blurted out to me as she remained her sad expression.

I... this just breaks my heart. Rose is such a delightful friend to me. I think she's good but she just has a few problems...

"Yes. I am still angry at you. Honestly, Rose, You know that I love you so much and we've been friends ever since high school. You know that you were there for me when no one was. When those bitches bullied me to no end for acting masculine, you were there for me. So of course I would never leave you. Just because made one mistake doesn't make you any less of a friend to me but I just want to show you that what you're doing was wrong understand? You were acting like a lunatic every time we go to social events. You make messes that some of us will have to clean up and honestly I'm just worried about you. What if someday, I wasn't there to help you and you caused a big mess. You'll be in big trouble! I patted her in the back. Giving her a big old hug.

She accepted it, sharing a warm embrace with one another. A friendly embrace between the best of friends. It almost melts away my tiredness just hugging her. Although just because we are hugging that doesn't mean I'll let everything she did slide.

"Do.. do you finally forgive me?!" Her eyes and ears light up from the excitement. I sighed, giving her an apathetic look.

"It really depends on you Rose. If you become maybe less of a chaotic person then I might forgive you and put this all behind us but just so you know. I don't want you to change, you're energetic, you're supporting those are the things that I love about you. We might not agree at times but just remember that I'll always be by your side. If you TRY to make a change that is."

She went silent for a while, thinking carefully as to what she will answer next to my request. It's really time to grow up Rose. We've been friends for a way too long and acting like a dumb cheerleader is not going to be a good thing for you...

"I... I will try..." She responded with jurisdiction. Giving me a smile that I could trust. I.. I think I trust her now! I'll just give her a chance to redeem herself!
