Chapter 12：Substitute Boyfriend

Bai Yan really wanted to say that he had not bought that skirt.

However, he was rendered speechless when he saw his mother's stern gaze. The man could only lower his head and eat his meal.

Bai Yan had taken no more than two bites of his food when he stood up and said, "Father, mother, I have some matters to take care of in the office so I'm leaving now."

Bai Qilin put down his chopsticks with visible displeasure and said, "You're too busy. It's finally the weekend, yet you can't even spend some time with Xiaonian. If you're going to leave, then just hurry up and go."

"Yes, just go. At least I have Xiaonian here to accompany me," Ji Yun said in an annoyed tone.

Bai Yan glanced at his parents. A sense of guilt stirred in his heart when he heard both of them complaining. In spite of that, he picked up his coat and walked past the doorway.

Ji Xiaonian had her head lowered the entire time because she was too afraid to even glance at Bai Yan.

When she noticed that he had left, the girl finally raised her head. Her gaze was firmly fixed in the direction of the doorway. She felt both reluctant and depressed.

After breakfast, Ji Yun dragged Ji Xiaonian away and sat her down in the hall before she said, "Xiaonian, are you okay after last night? Lil Bai is a man, so he can't stop himself from losing control when he gets excited. Don't secretly harbor any ill feelings toward him, okay?"

Last night, Ji Yun had sneakily gone upstairs to take a peek at how her son was treating this girl.

However, she had never expected that the door would be locked. While she was outside, Ji Yun could hear that Ji Xiaonian was yelling from inside the room.

She also overheard her son coaxing the girl.

As someone who had gone through a similar experience, she guessed that the pair had definitely gone all the way last night. In fact, she was very certain that it had happened.

Ji Yun could not help but rejoice when she realized that her son was finally acting like a normal man. She really had to thank Xiaonian for this. From today onward, Ji Yun decided that she would definitely be more loving toward her.

Ji Xiaonian looked at Ji Yun, but the older woman's words puzzled her. The girl's eyebrows were tightly knitted together when she asked curiously, "Aunty, I can't remember anything because I was drunk last night. Did Brother Yan really…"

"I know."

Before Ji Xiaonian could finish speaking, Ji Yun interrupted her. She said with a smile, "Xiaonian, you were drunk, but don't tell me that you've forgotten everything. I heard everything clearly while I was outside the door. You kept begging Lil Bai to be gentler because he was hurting you.

"I also heard Lil Bai say, 'Niannian, it won't hurt for much longer. You're going to feel better soon'. Don't you think that both of you would only say these things after engaging in certain vigorous exercises? I've been through this as well, so you can't lie to me."

Once she had finished speaking, Ji Yun winked at Ji Xiaonian. She had seemingly read the girl's mind and knew her innermost thoughts like the back of her hand.

However, Ji Xiaonian was completely stunned now.

Her doe eyes blinked before she stared at Ji Yun and felt like she was going to burst into tears at any moment.

'Was her Aunty saying that she had slept in the same bed as Brother Yan last night and done those things?'

'Was that possible?'

'It must be impossible!'

Unfortunately, Ji Xiaonian noticed that her entire body felt weak when she woke up this morning. She also felt some pain in her nether regions.

'Did she really do those things with Brother Yan?'

Ji Xiaonian widened her eyes in shock before she looked at Ji Yun in disbelief.

"Xiaonian, you can't pretend that this didn't happen. You have to be responsible for our dear Lil Bai as well because he gave you his first time. Otherwise, I will be terribly sad."

Ji Yun hurriedly threatened Ji Xiaonian because she was worried that the girl would avoid this matter and deny that it happened.

Ji Xiaonian was completely dumbfounded now.

As if she had thought of something, she quickly stood up, bowed before Ji Yun and frantically said, "Aunty, I should go now because I have to attend to some matters. I'll come back and visit you another day."

"Oh, Xiaonian, you…"

Without waiting for Ji Yun to speak, Ji Xiaonian ran off. She forced the front door open and rushed out.

When she dashed out of the Bai household, Bai Yan's car was nowhere to be found. She realized that he was probably at the office.

Ji Xiaonian hurriedly ran back home. She had to call Bai Yan and ask him what exactly had happened last night. If they had really slept together, then she… 

For some reason, a hopeful feeling stirred in Ji Xiaonian's heart. She was hoping that the things that the housemaid and her Aunty had told her were true. She was also hoping that she had really slept with Brother Yan.

If it was true, then Brother Yan would have no choice but to marry her.

She would probably wake up from her dreams with a smile on her face every morning if she could truly marry the man she loved.

Ji Xiaonian ran back to the villa, but she hurriedly pressed the doorbell when she realized that the front door was locked. 

The housemaid only came to open the door after some time. When she noticed Ji Xiaonian standing there, the housemaid respectfully said, "My lady, you're home."

"Yes."

Ji Xiaonian rushed inside. She was about to pick up the landline phone when she suddenly noticed a man walking downstairs. Immediately, she stopped in her tracks and looked at that person in shock because she was slightly befuddled.

Why was he here?

Before she could even think about it, Lu Yifei had already walked up to her. There was a mocking smirk on his face when he said, "Haha, it seems like someone spent the whole night away from home yesterday. Tell me honestly, which b*stard were you hanging out with?"

Ji Xiaonian only reacted when she heard his voice. She glared at him and asked, "Why are you in my house?"

Lu Yifei had also come downstairs first thing in the morning. Did he sleepover at her house last night?

"Didn't I tell you that I'm your personal bodyguard and driver now? I'm also your substitute boyfriend too. Of course, my meals and accommodation are included in this job. Naturally, I should stay in your house."

Lu Yifei circled her before he faintly raised his thick eyebrows while the corners of his lips curled upward slightly. He teasingly smiled and stated, "You've even changed your clothes. It seems like you've made some pretty good progress last night!"

Ji Xiaonian rolled her eyes at Lu Yifei when she heard him saying those weird things. She was about to retaliate when she saw her brother walking downstairs. The girl hurriedly stepped forward and asked, "Brother, did you invite this person over? Why is he calling himself my bodyguard and driver? I don't need one. Why did you waste your money hiring this useless person?"

Furthermore, she already had a driver at home.

Also, why would she need a bodyguard or a substitute boyfriend?

"I've recently provoked some dangerous people and I'm worried that they'll hurt you. That's why I've made arrangements for someone to protect you 24 hours a day. If the bad men manage to lay their hands on you, I wouldn't be able to explain it to our parents."

Ji Chen walked over and reached his hand out to pat Ji Xiaonian's shoulder before he walked toward the dining room.

"Did you manage to sleep well in the Bai household last night? Did Bai Yan bully you?"

He pulled out a chair and sat down before he gestured at Ji Xiaonian to have breakfast with him.

Ji Xiaonian walked over and quickly sat down next to her older brother before she anxiously asked, "Why did you provoke bad people? Did you really hire a bodyguard for me because you're worried about my safety?"

She sensed that the actual situation was not what it seemed.

When Ji Xiaonian looked at that man named Lu Yifei, she wondered if he could even protect anyone. After all, he was prettier and more fragile than a girl!

Ji Xiaonian constantly felt that something was wrong, but she was unable to pinpoint the problem.

"Of course, why would I lie to you?"

Ji Chen briefly glanced at Lu Yifei, signaling him to come over and have breakfast with them.

Lu Yifei walked over and pulled out a chair to sit down. After that, he smiled at Ji Xiaonian and said, "Don't worry, I won't disturb your daily life. If you don't want to see me, I'll stay at least 30 feet away from you."

Ji Xiaonian was speechless. If the situation was exactly as her brother had described it, then so be it! It would be better for her to avoid unnecessary trouble.
