14 Information Gathering

Alyx got very useful information from Blag and got to know about the current situation from the Lizardmen's perspective. Aons had a detailed information on all species but they ignored the public opinion and collected the information from an observer's point of view. This made them simplify the reasons behind a group's actions making it difficult to come up with a solution. Since for Aons these are just test subjects. So Ax came up with a plan to infiltrate both sides and obtain a deeper understanding into the situation before deciding on the best course of action. Although Ax had a general outline on what to do this information is still crucial to increase their CP.

The following day Alyx went around the tribe and communicated with different people to get a clearer picture. Although he wanted to believe in Blag but his view might be biased and he might over exaggerate some things. All around the tribe there was a gloomy atmosphere due to the impending war but the children oblivious to all these were playing and enjoying their time.

'Looks like what Blag said is true. If they were truly raging to get revenge the atmosphere would be completely different.'

*There is no incentive for them to participate in this war. They know they would just be used as cannon fodder.*

The people he met on the street would give him strange glances from time to time. Few were bold enough to talk to him and upon mentioning Blag's name they would lose all the earlier misgivings and open up to him.

'It appears his reputation in the tribe is more than we expected.'

*He is a competent hunter with many successful expedition under his belt with no losses, so it is hardly a surprise.*

Most of the males in the tribe form small hunting groups and some females also participate in them. But the majority of the females are protected in the village as they are important for the continuation of the tribe.

'Hey Ax I think we got all the information that we can. It would be a waste of time to visit other tribes.'

*We need more information on the leaders of the alliance who are pushing for the war. We should try to get that information through Blag.*

He returned to Blag's house in the evening and was waiting for his return. The hunters go out daily to bring food as the tribe has food reserves for only a few days as any longer than that and the fish might die and spoil.

'The Lizardmen are not as ferocious as I thought they would be. They are pretty easy to get along with. Blag even let me stay here for a few days'

*They are a closed group and are hostile to other species but get along well with each other, as there are no infighting. If they are in some of the desolate quadrants they might not be so welcome to outsiders due to lack of food.*

'Yeah, they are among the weaker civilizations on MBN. If they get to develop in a peaceful environment then like humans they will also start tearing into each other.'

Alyx was just relaxing while leaning against the house when he heard small sounds coming from the lake.

'Right, Blag said he was raising some pet behind the house. What do you think it is?'

*I would not go over there...….*

While asking such questions Alyx went towards the pond (When compared other water bodies in the region) behind the house before waiting for Ax's reply.

ROARRRR.

Suddenly a huge head burst out from the water scaring Alyx. He fell to his bottom and was unable to move.

'What is that? Is this the pet that Blag is raising?'

*Can't you wait for me to finish my sentence? Sigh. You have never met this pet, how can you just go without thinking of the consequence.*

'Fuck I just thought it would be some small fishes or something.'

Shuaan the turtle was glaring at this intruder which trespassed into his house when his master was away.Just when it was going to attack Alyx, a loud noise can be heard from afar.

"Shuaan stop!" Blag intervened and stopped it.

The turtle stopped for a moment hesitating whether to attack or not. Blag approached it and started gently coaxing it before giving it the food he brought.

"Thank god you came in time otherwise I would be a goner."

"Hahaha sorry I forgot to warn you the other day. If I introduced you two earlier it would not have happened." Shuaan was eating the fish while glaring at Alyx warning him not to try anything funny.

Alyx wanted to get as far away from it as possible. If he died for such a pitiful reason he would not be able to show his face to any Aon in the future.

*Alyx I think you should let me handle your body till you can adjust to this life. You are just not ready for it. You are not taking anything seriously and it would be your doom before you achieve anything.*

Alyx took control of the body from Ax as he was bored doing nothing. 'Yeah you are right.'

Alyx was reluctant at first but thinking of the consequence he acceded.

*No need to get into such low spirits its due to your old habits but they'll change as time passes. Anyway you criticize Aons but you also let it get to your head and started thinking you are superior unconsciously. It is not a bad thing but coupled with your careless attitude it's a recipe for disaster.*

Alyx had nothing to refute that, if he thought about his actions till now it was apparent. He was treating all this as some picnic. All his conviction and drive that he had at the beginning was lost in a month. He felt ashamed.

*Don't start blaming yourself. Did you forget what you said at the beginning, "I'm going to be a human with an AI and not some Aon." You can just stay the way you are and depend on me more.*

'Ax I did not know you have grown up so much. Maybe you can apply to become an Aon yourself.' Alyx mood got lifted somewhat after those words spoken by Ax.

*I am just trying to emulate your thought pattern and replying. I still can't do many things on my own without your directions. I still have a long way to go before I can be called an Aon.*

'Don't be modest you are still the best Aon that I met.'

After Blag took care of Shuaan they went into the house. Blag noticed that the demeanor of Alyx changed significantly after that encounter with Shuaan.

"You don't have to be so alert and tense inside the house."

"Hahaha nothing. It was a wakeup call for me. I was slacking off a bit too much recently." Alyx laughed it off, "Blag I want to meet with your chief."

Blag had a serious expression and said, "I have already said to you our tribe is also going to war and we can't accept you. If you want to flee after joining the chief will have no choice but brand you a deserter"

"No, I just want information about leaders of the alliance who are pushing for war so that I can stay away from those tribes." Blag understood his reasoning and complied.
