Dr. Galen's office, 28th November 2013
3rd session
The middle-aged doctor put his arms on the desk while facing the quiet black-haired man. The atmosphere was a bit tense as the teenager was unconsciously shaking and forcing himself to remember the past.
"I, I'm not too sure about the concept as it was not much explained but I'm sure I was once sent to a foreign world… empty and inexplicably cold."
Galen frowned, a bit lost about what he just heard.
"World? What kind of world?"
"It's not a 'real-world' but a collective unconsciousness of the countless test subjects. We were innately linked to it… it's difficult to explain its meaning but I do know its name." Bin paused for a second before saying: "The Magicis Ignaro. Their goal was to access it and learn how to wield it."
He held his aching head, his head still closed, while reciting the documents and recording that were engraved in his tempestuous mind: "That world affects ours but you could see a change only in very specific locations. One of them is that facility. At first, it was simple things like a table stuck on the roof or continuously changing furniture but as the connection between the two worlds deepened, the change became much more apparent and note-worthy. When I escaped, I walked past a room that was unimaginably big and inexplicable. There was no roof, only a grey gloomy sky and the place was riddled with blue cubes randomly placed everywhere… I've even seen unfamiliar croaking monsters."
Bin was forced to stop as blood leaked out of his nostrils and his face became extremely pale. He leaned on the chair and take deep breaths while trying to calm himself down. It wasn't because the memories were tragic but there seemed to be something blocking him from accessing those secrets. In fact, apart from Galen, he never told anyone about what he had seen. That was the facility and those controlling it weren't just doing simple, inhumane experiments, no, it was a far cry from that.
They were forcing their way into a mysterious world which should be forever inaccessible. Instead of thanking their 'God' for the gracious gift which is Magic and Mana, they attempt blasphemous rituals and try to delve into something beyond their realm of intelligence and comprehension, at least that's what Bin thought, which is partially why he kept everything to himself and wanted to live a quiet and peaceful life.
Every human's life is filled with adventure and exciting thing but Bin already had his fill ever since he was five or six. He saw things that are better left unsaid and not a day passes he doesn't wish to forget those vivid memories.
"And can you still enter that world now?"
Although the doctor didn't want to pressure the bleeding teenager, he still asked him. In response, the boy shook his head and said:
"You think I haven't tried? It connects all the children in and out of that facility but ever since my body started rejecting Mana, my access has been indefinitely blocked. Every time I try it, I fall unconscious."
…
East Coast of M-nation, abandoned warehouse.
19th February 2014
"I heard you hired Barry last time, why did you change your pick, Dr. Galen?"
A woman with long purple hair and revealing clothes seductively smiling while questioning the distressed doctor.
Galen handed her a few papers while snorting, clearly unhappy about hearing the red-haired mercenary's name.
"He's not trustworthy. Now, do you swear to never reveal anything about this?"
The woman nodded her head, bit her thumb, and pressed it on the papers, which started glowing with a blue light then disintegrated into countless specks of light. This was a special deadly oath that can kill anyone who breaks it. It's not only expensive to acquire but rare to produce too, nevertheless, Galen stopped at nothing to assure the confidentiality of this matter.
After the oath was finished, the doctor turned to face Bin, who was motionlessly sitting on a normal metallic chair while dumbly staring at the front. The woman leaned her face closer while displaying her massive assets to him but he didn't react at all, in fact, he didn't seem to notice her presence at all.
"Are you sure about this, Bin?"
The young man robotically nodded his head and replied: "If it can help your research then I don't mind. After all, we are out of options."
"Don't worry, this big sister will take good care of you." She winked at the black-haired youngster and stretched her hand, shooting a thin light which created a spheric purple barrier around Bin.
"Meranda, don't forget that if news of this gets out, we're both dead!"
Galen warned her again before signaling for Bin to begin. The woman and the doctor gazed at the unresponsive teenager, who closed his eyes and started.
He was trying to enter the Magicis Ignaro, or more precisely, forcefully breaking in. Although it'll most likely alert the enemies, it can also provide a solution for Bin as that world can calibrate the restless Mana inside the victim's body.
…
Merely an hour later, half of the warehouse fell down and both Galen and the woman were heavily injured, though the latter managed to protect her vital parts. The doctor was unconscious but the woman managed to catch a glimpse of a youngster with crimson hair carrying her and Galen while dashing out of the falling building. He used an inhumane speed and even when a sharp metal piece pierced his shoulder, he didn't as much as let out a squeak, his face remained expressionless.
"W-who are you…"
Those were the only words she uttered before she coughed some blood and fell unconscious, just like Galen. As for the unfamiliar young man, he snorted and took out the metal piece stabbing his shoulder then looking at the cloud of dust a hundred meters away.
"Bin… what did you expect? A warm welcome from them? Try this again and I'll bury you with the rest!" He clicked his tongue and left the area seconds later, not bothering to glance at the people he just saved at the last second.
