Chapter 575: Demonic Maelstrom

Xue Ying had entered the Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain for no less than an hour when he began to notice that he was having a harder and harder time fleeing. For instance, Emperor Qi Hai, the expert whom he had just fought against, and who was still chasing after him, was actually the sovereign of the 85th layer of the Dark Abyss! The number of Abyss Sovereigns coming out to pursue him was clearly increasing with time. They all entered through different entrances and followed different passages, all in hopes of killing him!

Luck had been on his side during the previous encounter, for Emperor Qi Hai was strong indeed, and he was known as an expert even amongst powerful existences, but his speed turned out to be slower than his. As a result, Xue Ying had still somehow managed to struggle free from him.

But what if next time he met someone whose speed was not any worse than his? What would the result of meeting a Paragon be?

‘Ai… I’ve been looking for somewhere to hide this first half of the”Blood Demon Scripture”, but I’ve yet to find any good fit for it.’ Xue Ying was intently observing the dark passage he was currently flying through.

Him dying wouldn’t mean much, but losing the original copy of the Blood Demon Scripture’ fight half would be a great failure for him.

He had been looking for an opportunity to use what he learned from his father-in-law, the technique for hiding the true god weapon he put to use a while ago, on the Blood Demon Scripture!

‘It’s a shame that I’m stuck inside the Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain,’ Xue Ying thought.

Lake Heart Island was covered in many layers of frost, making it easy to hide treasures inside by changing their appearance into ice crystals.

But the passageways inside of the Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain were hard and impenetrable! Even if he forced the Blood Demon Scripture to take on a new appearance, the Abyss Sovereigns would only need to release the world deity energy inside their bodies, allowing them to rampantly sweep through the place and find it with ease.

Meanwhile, back in Lake Heart Island, powerful existences would never dare to act with such reckless abandon as to destroy everything in their path—the ruins were simply too dangerous. Creating a big disturbance like that would only result in great danger. Anyone who dared to sweep through countless layers of frost all along the passageways would likely invite frightening existences to their doorstep. As a result, all of the experts who entered Lake Heart Island would generally keep to themselves. It was only on special occasions that they would actually fight, only to rapidly leave the battlefield after a conclusion was reached.

As for the Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain? The danger here was much lower, with rulers actually being completely safe here. While Paragons might find the place slightly more dangerous, they were still sure to survive as long as they stayed vigilant. Not even powerful existences would consider this place overly dangerous. There were only a few places which could pose a true threat to them.

More importantly, Xue Ying had only been inside for a single hour. How far could he fly in such a short amount of time? It was not even fifty billion kilometers!

As long as they did a carpet search while following the path previously traversed by Xue Ying, they could easily and swiftly find the Blood Demon Scripture.

‘If only this were Lake Heart Island… These people would not be so mad as to conduct a destructive carpet search there.’ Xue Ying shook his head inwardly.

Time flowed on, and by now, two Paragons and 125 Abyss Sovereigns had gathered inside of the Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain. They moved along different passageways so as to try and block Xue Ying’s path from different directions.

‘I can’t continue fleeing like this.’

‘If nothing changes, I’ll be captured within half an hour.’ Xue Ying’s black armor was already littered with cracks, which were already in the process of recovering. Every bone in his body was shattered, and large amounts of his muscles were torn, yet even they were healing. At the moment, a giant whose lower region was covered by a leather skirt was chasing after him, roaring out as he raised his enormous ax.

This giant was able to move at incredible speeds, so fast that he roughly matched Xue Ying’s speed.

“Dong Bo Xue Ying, you can’t escape from me.” As it charged ahead, the giant’s light brown eyes were filled with cold intent. “Hand over the Blood Demon Scripture!”

He was a famous powerful existence of the Dark Abyss who went by the name of Wild Mo. While his might have seemed like an ordinary name, he was ranked near the top among the powerful existences beneath the Paragon realm. In fact, his combat power was roughly comparable to the Nine Yang Palace Head’s or the Purple-Gowned Hex Emperor’s. He was famous for his fierce offensive techniques, as well as his strong defense. On most occasions, he would use his body to block the attacks launched by his opponents directly, followed by brandishing his ax to kill them when the opportunity was ripe.

His ax was overwhelmingly powerful.

Xue Ying had already tested it on his own skin once. A single strike had been enough to send him flying far into the distance, followed by a number of cracks appearing on his black armor. His body had shattered as a result, but he had been fortunate enough to have a layer of luminous sun force covering his body, allowing him to instead make use of the strike’s propulsive force to aid in his fleeing.

“Hand over the Blood Demon Scripture! Just hand it over!” roared Wild Mo without stop. His body was overly large, and he seemed rather daft. While his figure was extremely tyrannical and his speed blindingly fast, he was still comparable to Xue Ying at best.

‘If I get the original copy of the Blood Demon Scripture, the Heavenly Emperor of Great Destruction will exchange for it, and I’ll use this chance to obtain the full volume. The Heavenly Emperor of Great Destruction once used it to become a Paragon. I think I’ll be able to do it too.’ This Wild Mo personage was clearly brimming with ambition.

“Hm,” Xue Ying suddenly noticed an enormous cavernous entrance ahead of him. At the same time, the passageway he was in the middle of traversing was rapidly becoming larger as it connected with various other caves in the distance. The cavernous hole ahead had a diameter of a full five hundred billion kilometers. It must be stated that Xue Ying had spent an entire hour fleeing, yet he had cover no more than fifty billion kilometers. This cavern hole was amazingly large, and there was so much wind being swallowed within that it seemed to form an intense maelstrom.

As he approached, Xue Ying’s body became unstable; the attractive force of this cavernous entrance was too strong.

‘I’m going in.’ Xue Ying did not hesitate, well aware that if he were to just keep running, his chances of making it out alive would only decrease with time. As such, despite being faced with a terrifying passageway that emitted such a terrifying attractive force, he did nothing to reduce his speed. On the contrary, he borrowed this attractive force to accelerate even faster towards it.

“What?” Meanwhile, Wild Mo had already begun slowing down. He was getting slower and slower, and before long, he had reached a full stop just ahead of the enormous cavernous entrance. He was clearly disinclined to chase Xue Ying any further inside.

‘This place is too dangerous; I might even lose my life inside.’ Wild Mo began showing signs of hesitation. Moments later, an avatar separated from his body, which immediately proceeded to enter the terrifying maelstrom.

“Hu~”

The wind within this cavernous passage was becoming stronger and stronger.

By following the guidance of this swallowing wind, Xue Ying’s speed was rapidly increasing. Furthermore, spacetime itself in the surroundings showed signs of being distorted. While his current speed was only about twice or trice that from before, the distortions of time-space in this region allowed him to occasionally cross as little as half a billion kilometers, and up to five billion kilometers in a single motion. He did not even dare accelerate any further, seeing how the wind had long since begun sweeping him along, wrestling away all control over his body.

“Sou.” Xue Ying was being swept at high speeds along this cavernous tunnel. This particular portion of the cave was dark and extremely long.

“Mn?” Xue Ying finally noticed a light in the distant—an opening in the tunnel.

Yet Xue Ying chose not to enter. Instead, he continued to fly along the tunnel.

“Hu, hu, hu~”

He flew on and on, ignoring any occasional tunnel opening that appeared to his sides.

‘This should be the so-called ‘Demonic Maelstrom’ of the Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain.’ Xue Ying continued flying along the gusting wind. ‘It is also the most dangerous place in these ruins.’

Indeed, this was the most dangerous location found in the Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain, so dangerous that it could even threaten the life of a Paragon.

The Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain was littered with tunnels which all linked to the Demonic Maelstrom. Anyone who entered the maelstrom would have the chance to be sent towards the true ancient grounds of the Three Chieftains Sacred Mountain. However, this was a place fraught with danger where even Paragons had to tread carefully.

‘Over here.’ Xue Ying had already bypassed fifteen tunnel openings. But the next light he saw ahead of him, he no ignored. This time, instead of letting himself be flown deeper along the Demonic Maelstrom, he took back control over his strength and approached the light.

This light represented an opening in the tunnel with a diameter of approximately fifty billion kilometers.

“Hu.”

Xue Ying’s current speed was nearly one billion kilometers per second. He swiftly rushed into the tunnel, breaking free from the attractive force of the gust of wind. Once inside, he noticed that the surrounding spatial resistance had greatly increased. Looking ahead, he saw a dark world with a dim sky. The earth’s surface was bland and shiny, similar to a desert. It was also very flat, with no visible protruding areas.

‘Most powerful existences would hesitate for a moment or two before entering this place, but the same can’t be said for Paragons,’ Xue Ying thought. ‘They’ll easily succeed in finding me here as long as they use karma.’

‘I must think of a solution.’ Xue Ying took to thoroughly inspecting this region of the world.
