Eight Million Years
Most World Deities were naturally respectful towards Xue Ying, but they still couldn’t help but arrive at certain conclusions in their hearts. To them, Xue Ying was a heaven-shattering stage four World Deity, much stronger than even some of the powerful existences. Was that enough to allow him to become an ancestor, though? They couldn’t help but feel that Xue Ying lacked a foundation as well as the necessary qualifications.
Just like ordinary civilians discussing great generals or the emperor…
Clearly, these World Deities felt that Xue Ying was not worth to join the ranks of the three ancestors. Putting him on such a pedestal would only humiliate the great status which they held in their hearts regarding these figures.
But despite them being inwardly unconvinced, they would still be careful whenever they talked about this matter in public.
…
On the Temporal Island, three powerful existences were currently discussing matters.
As they chatted on and on, they eventually reached the topic of Xue Ying.
“Black Devil, Dong Bo Xue Ying has already opened his Dao. Are you feeling flustered? Afraid?” a lion-headed man teased as he laughed out loud.
By the side, Forefather Black Devil had been enjoying a cup of wine when he squinted his eyes and chuckled. “Afraid, you ask? Of course, I’m afraid. It’s the only reason I’m holed up in the Temporal Island, not daring to take even a step outside. My luck truly is rotten—I’ve merely killed that Sacred Master Crimson Dust guy, yet he somehow managed to groom two disciples like Hui Ming and Dong Bo Xue Ying. Both are becoming so formidable.”
“Indeed, Crimson Dust’s disciples are becoming really formidable. One accepted Pang Yi as his teacher, whose cultivation technique is truly mysterious. Remember, Black Devil: you might be hiding, but you still have to be really careful, or you might just end up dead either way. There might even be no traces left behind by such an attack. Dong Bo Xue Ying is clearly the more formidable of the two, having managed to open up his Dao within a million years, and he’ll only become even more amazing with time.” Another man, whose face was adorned by violet patterns, sneered. “Black Devil, I have to admire your luck.”
Forefather Black Devil let out a laugh but did not reply.
“What about those rumors that have been spreading regarding how the new three ancestors of the Bloodshed God Palace will be the Bamboo Mountain Prefecture Master, the Overlord of Destruction, and Dong Bo Xue Ying?” The lion-headed man smashed his wine cup against the table. “So many of them are placing Dong Bo Xue Ying on such a high pedestal, even though it’s already been determined by the Cosmos Deity-Demon List that he’s much weaker than either of the two.”
“We still can’t underestimate him.”
Forefather Black Devil chuckled before lowering his voice. “Since he’s opened his Dao within a million years, he might just become a Ruler!”
“Become a Ruler?” The other two turned towards Forefather Black Devil. “Black Devil, you’re doomed if that happens.”
“What can I do about it?” Forefather Black Devil chuckled helplessly. There was a trace of calmness in his helpless laughter.
The rumors about Xue Ying becoming one of the three ancestors were generally accepted by the upper echelon, while the countless weaker, ordinary World Deities felt that Xue Ying’s combat power was lacking and that he did not qualify for the position! Since their combat power was weak, they experienced too little, so it was only natural that they would fall into a pitfall when making their judgments.
…
Xue Ying completely disregarded all of these matters. He had opened his Dao in a million years and fought with the Ancestor Mother Religion, and he had also visited the Starting Ground, allowing him to witness that strongest World Deity, as well as the black dog which could even injure the Lake Heart Island master. This experience allowed Xue Ying to understand that his little realm was truly too shallow. He wished to step upon even greater heights, and stand higher amidst the stars.
He also wanted to become a Ruler and transcend. For the moment, this was his singular goal. He wished to become more formidable, like the Lake Heart Island master and the Ancestor Devil, or perhaps even to reach the realm of that forefather who constructed the Starting Ground.
As such, these discussions going about in the outer world were of no significance to him.
“Hu hu~”
The cold wind was whistling.
Within the Icy Snow Eden, time did not seem to leave behind any scars. The eternal cold wind, the forever falling snow, and even Xue Ying who was engrossed in his meditation here.
In what felt like the blink of an eye, more than eight million years passed.
These eight million years might be considered a very long time to someone like Xue Ying since he had only cultivated for a total of a million years prior to entering the Icy Snow Eden, but to most of the powerful existences across the vast cosmos, these eight million years were fleeting! As for experts like the Bloodshed God-Emperor and the Primal Master, they only measured their cultivation in terms of billions of years.
Within these eight million years, a ‘fleeting’ moment, not much change came across the Deity world and the Dark Abyss. Naturally, countless mortals and Transcendents were replaced by the following generations and the ones after. The Dong Bo clan was now spreading across the entire world, and Xue Ying was turning into more and more of a legend.
On top of a mountain peak, a figure was standing there, with their hands crossed.
It was Xue Ying, looking at the vast snowy plains. Despite his apparent lack of focus, the spirit in his eyes was as sharp as a blade. It must be stated that the Time Boundary of the Cultivating Heart Secret Technique required him to hold onto himself for an incomparably long period of time. Refining himself time after time within the Time Boundary while gradually increasing his understanding towards the profound mysteries of the laws, Xue Ying was essentially training his inner heart and sharpen it like a blade.
“Hu.” The surface of Xue Ying’s body emitted an invisible wave.
“Hong long long~”
A black fog began spreading out rapidly, covering more than a hundred million kilometers in a flash…
The surrounding world turned pitch-black as the fog was rolling over, circulating with Xue Ying as its center. This appearance gave him the sense of being a terrifying Demonic God with control over all darkness.
“Si la!”
A stream of light flashed through the black fog which covered an area that was more than fifty billion kilometers wide.
Followed by this flash, the fog was torn apart like paper! This sort of extremity which could spread out then condense into explosive might have even left Paragons feeling jittery.
‘It’s been eight million years, and I have yet to succeed in cultivating the Cultivating Heart Secret Technique. I have, however, succeeded in opening the Dao of Slaughter.’ Xue Ying chuckled lightly. With a thought, countless flashes of light cut across a region of 500 billion kilometers surrounding him, cutting it into pieces chaotically, before eventually turning everything into nothingness. The world then regained its usual calm, and the snowflakes started falling down once more.
‘The Dao of Slaughter.’
Xue Ying lightly nodded. ‘The Time Boundary is partially to thank for this.’
The Time Boundary would either force him to immerse himself, or it would be like a blade which helped him cut apart all obstacles. As his heart became more tangible and he comprehended more of the Dao of Slaughter, he eventually completed it with the added help of the three True God weapons.
‘Now that I have the Dao of Slaughter, my weakness when it comes to offense is finally covered,’ Xue Ying thought. Throughout his past, he had been forced to rely on the Eternal Dao of Slaughter inherent to the Blood Serpent Spear. Only by depending on the True God weapon itself as well as the Blood Serpent Venom in addition to his own physical strength could he hope to hold on. ‘Now that I’ve grasped the Dao of Slaughter, both the Blood Serpent Spear and the Flying Knife should be much stronger assets.’
The Dao of Slaughter was entirely different from the Dao of Mirage.
Its existence was solely for the sake of killing.
Xue Ying comprehended the aspect of Extreme Condensation, which allowed him to condense all of his power into a single point. This single point was akin to the eruption of light, and it could cut through everything in its path. Everything it reached would be cut and destroyed. It was truly clean and concise! This was the only technique he gained, yet its offensive power was so powerful to more than make up for that.
‘Two Daos.’ Xue Ying revealed a grin. These two Daos would be the source of countless benefits.
First of all, these two Daos aided each other. He could use the Dao of Mirage to step into another world and easily assassinate people, putting his techniques to good use! He could also easily escape whenever it was called for.
The second point was the benefit it brought to his cultivation. With two Daos, he had two paths he could walk towards becoming a Ruler, therefore significantly increasing his chances of success.
The reason why Xue Ying had focused entirely on comprehending the Dao of Slaughter, other than seeking a technique that offensively oriented, was the following: as a young man, he had also comprehended the True Meaning of Extreme Piercing which he used as his killing technique; he had desired a similar thing all this time. Whenever he cultivated, he would always seek certain aspects. Naturally, the three True God weapons were also of great help when it came to his comprehension of the Dao of Slaughter. As a result, he continued researching this aspect until he finally succeeded.
Having grasped two Daos, Xue Ying finally had the courage to fight even apex Paragons. After all, among apex Paragons, there were still some who only had one Dao. Naturally, these people would have reached a very high level in these Daos, and might become eternal once they improved a bit more. However, that gap was like the distance to the heavens, which was extremely hard to cross.
‘Compared to those apex Paragons, I am much more balanced. Naturally, I still wouldn’t be a match to the likes of Disciple Brother Monarch Green, though.’ Xue Ying was very clear that Monarch Green had already fused three Daos and trained them to the very limit; such a being could even contend with Rulers.
