It was an utter defeat!
After their leader Navia got captured alive, the rest of the pirates lost the will to fight, completely without morale. Some of the pirates chose to run for their lives, some hid within the piles of corpses and feigned death, while most of the pirates chose to surrender.
In just an hour, the female leader Margaret had completed a beautiful surprise attack, obtaining a generous amount of spoils of war. There were massive sea turtles, mountains of crystal coins, and even a dozen beautiful ladies…
After returning to Dark Sand Island, the pirates hosted a grand celebratory feast, all of them drinking till their faces turned red. Some of the pirates drank as they slammed their hands on the table, playing drinking games, some were hugging the women they fancied, deepening their relationship in a deserted corner; Some were sparring on the beach to see whose strength was greater, whose fists were harder!
The pirates were in high spirits, while the person beside Yang Ling was also incredibly excited, witnessing the rare fanfare!
After taking a few sips of wine and engaging in a few formalities with the female leader Margaret, Yang Ling turned back to see that the Corpse Wizard King who could not deal with loneliness had already vanished. He did not know if he had gone drinking with the pirates or fooling around somewhere. However, as long as he did not violate any decent woman or do anything too overboard, Yang Ling could not find the energy to deal with the perverted old man.
After transforming into a muscular bloke who could rival Schwarzenegger, the Dark Dragon King went to spar with the pirates on the beach, taking on one pirate with each happens. He beat the pirates who were indignant about losing till they shouted in pain. The Flying Dragon King Seylius had gotten addicted to drinking games and would have to drink a few bowls of wine every time he lost. Even though he lost more than he won, he was still incredibly happy to play.
The purple rat Little Ice was scampering around with Little Mink, sometimes stealing a bite of a few chicken drumsticks, sometimes having a few bowls of rum; In their drunken stupor, they even pulled on the beards of a few pirates, causing a great deal of mischief!
"Sir, this is Elder Hilelius of our Vandal Tribe!" After a few formalities, the female leader Margaret introduced Yang Ling to an elder with a white mustache.
If Yang Ling reviving a few fierce warriors and a few Spellcasters with deep amounts of magical energy had given Margaret another pillar of support; Then him reviving the knowledgeable, highly experienced Elder Hilelius truly gave her hope of the tribe's revival.
Obtaining a huge victory against Navia, receiving the support of the Magical Beast Territory, coupled with the fact that more and more of her tribespeople were getting revived, made her extremely excited. She was filled with endless gratitude toward Yang Ling. Her face was red, like the color of peach blossom, after having drunk a few sips of beer. She gave off a completely different feeling than when she was wielding both her blades and leading the pirates in attacking their enemy.
"The sound of the waves around Dark Sand Island remains the same, but after waking up from our slumber, a few thousand years had already passed!" Looking at the bustling pirates, then looking at the faint outlines of the other islands, Elder Hilelius let out a long sigh, "We are fortunate enough to encounter Your Lordship, otherwise, our Vandal Tribe might have…"
"You need not be too polite, elder, it was nothing much!" Yang Ling deliberated for a moment after taking a sip of rum, then said, a little perplexed, "Just what happened on the island during the era of the Land-Sea War?"
"This…"
Looking at the confused Yang Ling, then seeing the equally curious Margaret, the eyes of Elder Hilelius turned red, slowly narrating his story after letting out a sigh.
As it turned out, before the Land-Sea War, the Dark Sand Island had been the holy land of the Vandals. Their tribe had tens of thousands of warriors and a few hundred priests, their Chief Elder even reaching the peak level of a Domain Expert, merely a step away from advancing to divine-level. The strength of the tribe was amongst the best within the nearby seas, with even the Sea Tribes nearby not daring to offend them, much less the wandering pirates.
When the Land-Sea War erupted, the Chief Elder instructed the tribe to raise a magical barrier, thinking that they could sit out of the war and not participate in the chaotic battles. Unexpectedly, news of there being a large amount of premium Dark Sand on the island got leaked out by someone, and the island suffered from the attacks of the Church and the Sea Tribe on a dark windy night at the same time.
Almost all of the elites in the Vandal Tribe had been eliminated during that battle, their tribesmen falling to a merciless massacre. After killing the Domain Experts of their enemies, the severely injured Chief Elder created a path of blood, protecting a portion of his tribespeople as they escaped from their homeland.
Before he died, the Chief Elder split the group of tribesmen that had succeeded in escaping into two groups, with one group diving all the way into the underwater mine, prepared to move to a faraway island overseas through the Magical Teleportation Formation; The other group was to head to the Amazon Forest near the Cape of Good Hope at the fastest speed possible, seeking refuge with the Second Elder who was training there.
The Chief Elder had trained to the peak level of a Domain Expert, but the Second Elder, who was hailed as a genius, was the true pillar of mental support for the tribe. It was rumored that his abilities were several times greater than that of the Chief Elder's, some even saying that he had already reached divine-level. As long as they found the Second Elder, the tribespeople would have enough safety, as well as a hope for revenge.
The tribespeople had acted quickly, but there were unfortunately too many people attacking them. The last team of warriors that had been left behind to protect the group fell in the blink of an eye, and the tribespeople who were to seek refuge with the Second Elder was nearly exterminated.
Even though the few hundred tribespeoples who dove into the underwater mine had escaped from the crisis, the Chief Elder had no chance to tell them how to activate the Teleportation Formation before he died, due to the sudden nature of the incident. No one knew how to activate the Teleportation Formation.
In their anxiety, one of the priests recited the wrong incantation, not only causing the Magical Spell Formation to release a large amount of Corpse Poison and chilly air, it even drew out the Ice-sealing Evil Demon, causing the tribespeople who were caught off guard to be frozen into individual ice statues.
After a heated battle, a few of the heavily injured high-level warriors and priests pooled their efforts and sealed the Ice-sealing Evil Demon, but not without a heavy price, with only the Fifth Elder McCain, fortunately, avoiding the crisis. He only returned to the island to save a few of the severely injured tribespeople after the Church and Sea Tribes had left, stubbornly living on since then.
"Elder McCain had left a will before he died, saying that as long as one was a descendant of the Vandal Tribe, they had the responsibility to try reviving the tribespeople in the underwater mine and revive the tribe, then head to the Amazon Forest to search for the training Second Elder to exact revenge for us!" Seeing Elder Hilelius flipping the annals of the tribe maintained by the descendants, his face covered in tears, Margaret wept, "Unfortunately, over the millennia, no one has managed to find traces of the Second Elder, nor could revive the frozen tribespeople. If not for encountering Your Lordship, we might…"
"There would not be a Vandal Tribe without Your Lordship!" After closing the annals that invoked sadness, Elder Hilelius led the tribe in groveling before Yang Ling, "Our Vandal Tribe is willing to follow in your footsteps and witness the glory of the Magical Beast Territory!"
If the female leader Margaret was intelligent, then the experienced Elder Hilelius could be said to be a genius. After waking up, he had quickly understood the current situation with Margaret's explanation and the help from the tribe's annals.
There were still several hundreds of their tribespeople sealed in ice in the underwater mine. Only with Yang Ling's help would it be possible that they would be revived. After thousands of years, the ocean has become the domain of the sea tribe, while the influence of the Church on the continent had not decreased. It was difficult even for the tribe to defend itself, much less seek revenge.
They had no choice but to choose a powerful faction as their backer if they wanted to revive the Vandal Tribe in the shortest amount of time possible and proliferate. There had been no traces of the Second Elder in the past thousands of years, and they could not pin all of their hopes on him. Since that was the case, the powerful Magical Beast Territory was undoubtedly the optimal choice.
If even a hundred Golden Giant Dragons had to leave in the defeat, it was imaginable just how strong the Magical Beast Territory was!
"Elder Hilelius, get up, it was nothing much. You can tell me if you need any help!" Yang Ling smiled, speaking as he helped the Elder Hilelius up.
Yang Ling's observations over these few days told him that the Vandals were a race that naturally loved to fight, with many fierce warriors and priests. Even though their elites had long been exterminated a few thousand years ago, the warriors and priests that were left behind were still extremely powerful. They improved at great speeds when they trained, and they were a force Yang Ling could not get too many of.
Elder Hilelius, whose face was covered in tears, stood up with Yang Ling's help, hesitating for a moment before he said, "Sir, there is a lack of resources on Dark Sand Island at the moment, and we might come across the surprise attack of the pirates or Sea Tribes at any time. Our tribespeople still does not have enough power to protect our homeland. Do you think that you could…"
"No problem, the Magical Beast Territory welcomes your entry at any time. There are three cities in the Magical Beast Territory at the moment, and you're free to pick and choose where you would want to stay. Just say the word if you require tools such as rations or clothes!" Yang Ling understood Elder Hilelius's intentions, coolly inviting them to stay at the Magical Beast Territory.
After a pause, he continued, "However, I do not understand one thing. Even though the Dark Sand Ores are precious, how is it possible that it would lead to the Church and Sea Tribe joining forces to attack Dark Sand Island?
Even though weapons made after being tempered with a little Dark Sand Ore would become immensely sharp, it was illogical that it would lead to the mortal enemies that were the Church and the Sea Tribes joining forces to attack Dark Sand Island. Yang Ling felt more and more suspicious after deliberating it for some time.
"That's right, Elder Hilelius, just what is going on. We have been unable to understand this even after thousands of years had passed!" Margaret was also perplexed, staring straight at Elder Hilelius.
"This… Other than the fact that they wanted the premium Dark Sand Ore, I cannot think of a reason for the Church and Sea Tribes to attack us." Looking at the confused Yang Ling, Margaret and the tribespeople beside him, Elder Hilelius shook his head, hesitating for a moment before he said, "However, a few days before the incident, the Chief Elder had teleported back to the island from the Amazon Forest using a Magical Spell Formation. I heard from him that the Second Elder had managed to obtain a Divine Weapon, could it be that…"
Divine Weapon?
Hearing Elder Hilelius say this, Yang Ling was certain that the Church and Sea Tribes had not sent out a large army to attack Dark Sand Island just for a few cartsful of premium Dark Sand Ore, but for the so-called Divine Weapon.
Just what secrets lie within the Amazon Forest. Why has the Second Elder who was said to have reached divine-level not shown himself in thousands of years, even after his tribesmen had nearly been exterminated?
Opening the naval charts of the pirates, looking at the Amazon Forest that spanned tens of thousands of miles behind the Cape of Good Hope, Yang Ling had many considerations.
