It was already past midnight when Min Jae arrived at the airport. The conflict overseas was easily dealt with. Major changes had to be made and that cost them to lose a few resources. However, with the recent compromise, the company was now at greater advantage than they were before! It was truly a great breakthrough for the business!
The members of the board were once again impressed with Min Jae's ability to handle the matter with finesse. In such a short amount of time, he had single-handedly turned the tables around. Their young CEO was indeed an intelligent and capable man. There was no doubt that he could someday surpass the achievements of his own father.
A black vehicle smoothly travelled along the city's dim streets. It was a quiet ride home. The past days were really exhausting and Min Jae haven't had the chance to properly rest yet. Fortunately, it wasn't long before he finally stopped at his destination.
The lights inside the house were closed. So as not to disturb anyone, Min Jae worked his way through the dark soundlessly. He began with removing his coat and tie as he ascended the stairs. Just as he was about to make his way to the master's bedroom, he saw that the door leading to the kids' bedroom was left ajar.
Min Jae quietly entered the room to check on the children. Since little Jung Hyun's bed was near the door, Min Jae instantly noticed his son first. Jung Hyun looked really serene beneath the light his night lamp emitted. From the looks of it, he must've been tired too from today's event at school. Min Jae picked up Jung Hyun's fallen blanket from the floor and gently draped it over him before turning to leave.
Min Jae haven't walked out yet when he suddenly heard a faint sound from across the room. When he glanced at the direction the sound was coming from, he saw that little Hye Soo was rubbing her eyes. She must've woken up upon sensing her father's presence. After fully regaining consciousness, little Hye Soo stared at Min Jae with her big brown eyes.
Little Hye Soo and Jung Hyun were both fortunate to have inherited his eye color. People would always say that they have such beautiful eyes. Furthermore, it was also because of this that Jung Hyun looked a lot more like Min Jae. Hye Soo on the other hand, inherited more features from her mother. Looking at her right now, she resembled Eun Young very much.
The little one angled her head to the side as she continued to look at him. Why isn't daddy picking me up yet? She wondered.
Finally snapping out of his senses, Min Jae obediently approached his daughter and carried her. Little Hye Soo was happy when her father picked her up. She just really misses him more and more everyday!
"Little Hye Soo, why aren't you asleep yet?" Min Jae gently asked as he tried lulling her back to sleep. However, it was useless because Hye Soo was definitely wide awake now.
Little Hye Soo patted her small tummy in response. Seeing this, he asked. "Oh, are you hungry? Would you like to have milk?" The young toddler hesitated for a while before nodding wholeheartedly.
After turning the lights back on, Min Jae carried little Hye Soo downstairs to prepare her milk. The last time he had done this was for Jung Hyun. It's been a long time since and now that he thought about it, he's not even sure if remembers the formula correctly.
Min Jae helped his daughter settle in the high chair before he arranged her bottle. To make sure he was doing the right thing, he searched the internet for the correct procedures. He only attempted once. And when he saw that the liquid finally looked identical to the one he was imitating, he tasted the milk.
Min Jae sighed in relief, satisfied that the warm milk tasted the way it was supposed to. He then carefully poured it on the bottle and afterwards, he handed it over to little Hye Soo. The toddler was excited when she saw the milk her father had prepared. That's why when she saw him approaching, she impatiently tried to reach for the bottle with her little hands.
Min Jae couldn't help but stifle a laugh at his daughter's actions. She was just too adorable! "Here you go." He gently said as he finally appeased her agony.
Min Jae waited for little Hye Soo to finish her milk. His eyes were already heavy and his body was already screaming for him to rest. Nevertheless, he stayed up as he watched over the young girl.
When little Hye Soo drank the last of her milk, Min Jae was devastated to see that she was still very energetic. She showed no signs of sleepiness as she began running around the living room. As a result, Min Jae could only drag himself to tail her.
Little Hye Soo glanced at Min Jae. Slowing down, she blinked as she realized that her father was in no shape to play with her. She suddenly recalled seeing something from the drama Mrs. Bong was watching. Quickly, she ran up to him and hugged his leg.
Rechaaarge!!!
Min Jae smiled. Moved by his daughter's display of affection, he gently picked her up and placed a soft kiss on her cheek. "Thank you." He mumured.
They went upstairs to the kids' play room. Although he was tired after the business trip, he still wanted to savour this moment with little Hye Soo. The children were just growing too fast! With the schedule packed for the next few weeks, who knows when he'll get to spend time with her like this again?
The place was pleasingly neat and tidy. Min Jae wanted to read her a book to sleep so he brought her towards the bookcase for her to choose a storybook. Little Hye Soo picked the story of Beauty and the Beast. After showing it to her father, they sat together comfortably on the small couch.
Min Jae flipped the cover to reveal the first page. After clearing his voice, he warmly read. "Once upon a time, in a small town in France..."
