188 Chapter 188: I Am So Tired

Since Kylie's chairs and couches had been stolen, they sat on the floor with their backs to the wall.

"I want you to be able to trust me without a doubt," Ethan began, "so I will tell you everything. Then, if you ever are in doubt, you will come to me and ask me about it instead of running away and shutting me out in the way that you did.

"In order to do that, I need to take you to my home. Do you think you can trust me at least that far? You can ask Marta to come over and wait for the police. Because she was the one who discovered that your house was broken into, she is the one that they will want to speak with anyways."

Kylie nodded and said, "I will go with you but, if your motives prove to be anything other than sincere, I will destroy you on every social media and, any time I speak to the media, I will drag your name through the mud. That is a promise. Never forget that there is nothing worse than a woman scorned." She warns him.

"I never fear your warning because I know I didn't betray you, wife," Ethan replied, "I have nothing but good intentions. All that I want to do is clear my name and earn back your trust. I told you before that I love you, but I didn't feel trusted. "

Kylie couldn't find the words to say. She remains silent. As they drove, Kylie admitted that, even if her intuitions proved wrong, she had never felt very comfortable at the Toprak Mansion. "It is your home," she said, "not mine!"

"For the moment, that is true. If you don't feel like returning to my house, I can't force you," Ethan replied. "I have seen that it is not safe for you to live where you were. As your star rises, you will need more and more security. In order to meet that need, as soon as possible, I will transfer the mansion's deed to you. This is not a bribe. Even if you reject me today, I will still worry about your safety and give you Toprak Mansion."

Kylie didn't know how to respond to that. It was way more than anyone had ever given her. She wanted to refuse the gift, but her mind told her that, in truth, it might be what she needed to stay safe. She was pondering on these things when her phone rang. She looked at the Caller ID and, when she saw that it was Lucas, she accepted the call.

As soon as they were connected, Lucas began to speak faster than she'd ever heard him talk – he was that excited. "I've got good news," he said. "Director Miller just contacted me. He said that he wants you to be the leading lady in his next production! Kylie, you've been recognized gradually by a top rank Director Miller,"

"Sounds good," Kylie replied dully.

Lucas was expecting her to be excited so, when he didn't get the response he'd anticipated, he began to worry. "Is everything alright?" he asked her. "If you need me, just tell me where you are, and I will drop everything and come to you. If there's something bothering you, I will be there for you,"

"I am okay," Kylie said. "Don't worry. I am a little tired, but that's it."

"Alright," Lucas hesitantly replied. "Make sure you get plenty of rest and drink lots of water. You have been very busy lately. I care about you, and I don't want to see you burn out. You needed more rest because the next few days your new project will going to start,"

Kylie gave her assurance to Lucas, said goodbye to him, thanked him for his concern, and hung up.

Kylie was surprised when they drove up to Garbo Place. She thought that they were going to the Toprak Mansion, but she couldn't remember if Ethan had actually said where they were going. Between the banquet, her house being broken into, Ethan being in her apartment, and the job offer from Miller, her brain really was spinning, and she was having a hard time processing any new information.

Upon entering the place, she began to show herself around. The style of the place stood in exact opposition to the Toprak Mansion. Furthermore, unlike the Toprak Mansion, Kylie could see no hired help. In the living room, she noticed that everything looked like an elderly person had hand picked it. The ambiance was different from Toprak Mansion.

Kylie continued her tour and headed upstairs. She pushed the room doors open one by one. Most of them were empty or nearly so. As she poked her head into each room, she said, "This would be better served as a ballroom…" and, "Why don't you have a fitness room in here," and so on.

She was just about at the last door when Ethan grabbed her arm and said, "Why are you behaving like this? You are ignoring me since we arrived, and now insulting my tastes,"

Kylie smirked and said, "I have no idea what you are talking about."

"You do, too," Ethan said. "By showing disrespect to my home, you disrespect me. It is almost as though you have no feelings for me, which I know isn't true – but so far, you haven't slowed down for even a second so that I can explain what happened! I told you that we would be going to talk about our misunderstanding," Ethan quickly held her arm.

She tried to take back her arm, but Ethan didn't let it go.

"Okay, then we must talk. Start now and make sure you could explain to me properly, Ethan Parker!" She warns him.

"I am still your husband, but you treated me like this? You are unfair! Did you feel happy seeing me like this, Kylie? Tell me, is it what you want? If you ask me how I feel inside, it is so painful. I am so tired, you know!"
