422 Chapter 422: Dead Game

Large drops of tear fell on Fannie's forehead, eyes and lips.

Nate closed his eyes and cried, hugging Fannie's body in his arm.

"I don't allow you to die now! Open your eyes!"

"Can you hear me? I went to beg the mother for the blood to save your life. Couldn't you wait for me for a while longer? Why!"

"Fannie, open your eyes now. As long as you can open your eyes now, I promise I won't force you to get married, and I won't force you to go on blind dates either..." Nate wiped his nose on the sheet, then raised his head to look at Fannie.

Tears kept falling down from his eyes, but he still raised a smile. "Didn't you ask me whether I like you? Let me tell you now. I love you."

"Fannie, you're scaring me now. Please stop playing the 'I'm dead' game." Nate said to himself and didn't notice that everyone was standing around him in the operating room now.

"It's said that a person still can hear other people's talking when he or she just passed away because his or her soul is unwilling to leave right away." Kylie held Ethan's arm, saying to Nate. "Nate, if you have anything that you want to tell Fannie, tell her now."

Nate turned to look at her and said with doubt, "Can I tell her to wake up?"

Dinah rolled her eyes. "She lost all her blood. I don't think it's possible."

Nate seemed extremely sad and moved back to stare at Fannie. "I just have the feeling that she's still alive."

Kylie exchanged a glance with Dinah, then said, "Nate, I understand you're reluctant to accept it, but Fannie already left us."

"You weren't here when she closed her eyes, and she must be very sad. I think you better seize this chance now to tell her whatever you want her to know," Dinah said.

Hearing that, Nate licked his lips and hesitated.

He found it very difficult to say it aloud.

Stephen interrupted at this time and said to Mrs. Bass, "Fannie is still unmarried. Mrs. Bass, where should we place her grave?"

Although Fannie was adopted by the Bass family, she couldn't be buried in their graveyard. If her grave was placed somewhere else, she would be alone there.

Mrs. Bass thought for a while, then said, "Fannie is my adopted daughter after all, and I can't see her lying on the ground alone. I think we can bury her in another family's graveyard..."

"No!" Nate opposed at once. "I can't see Fannie lying in the ground with a stranger. She's a member of our family!"

"So? What do you want to do?" Kylie asked.

"I..." Nate licked his lips. "No matter what, we can't bury Fannie alone, nor in another family's graveyard."

"Tell us your idea then." Ethan pulled Kylie to his arms and stared straight at Nate.

Nate wasn't afraid of anyone, but he didn't dare to meet Ethan's eyes.

"Seriously?" Dinah was annoyed. "Fannie is your younger sister!"

"She's not my biological younger sister anyway!" Nate argued.

"I don't think it's a good idea." Kylie also disagreed with it. "You can't bury a girl who isn't married to you in your family's graveyard."

"You don't like her after all, and you can't force her to be your wife after she's dead."

"Who says I dislike her?" Nate blurted it out. "Let alone she's dead now, I already told her I like her when she was alive."

"I even promised to marry her when we were just kids, and I only love her in my life!"

"I feel so sorry for Fannie now," Kylie said to Dinah.

"Why?" Dinah asked with a serious face.

"Fannie only loves Nate during this lifetime, but Nate..." Kylie stopped and looked at Nate. "Who knows how many wives you're going to have."

"I agree!" Dinah said. "Nate, don't fool us here. Fannie is already dead, and you can say whatever you want. You can also marry as many girls as you want in the future."

Nate was in a rage and pointed at Dinah's nose. "I'm not joking or lying! I really love Fannie."

"Then why did you force her to get married?" Kylie asked.

"I just wanted to see whether she likes me," Nate said. "Since you love her, why didn't you tell her?" Dinah questioned.

"I did tell her, but she wouldn't listen! Instead, she drove away alone!" Nate said, then raised his head up, looking into the air, like Fannie's soul was floating there. "Fannie, I love you. Can you hear me? I love you."

"My mother's body isn't in good condition, and my father died young. I can't leave my mother alone now." Nate gave his mother a glance, then added, "Fannie, don't worry. My mother won't live longer than me. Once she passes away, I'll kill myself to see you!"

"Nate!" Mrs. Bass was mad and wanted to hit him, but was pulled back by Stephen.

Afterward, they walked out of the operating room one by one.

"Mom. Ethan? Hey, why are you all leaving? I'm not joking..." Nate didn't finish his sentence and felt something wasn't right.

He turned his head back at a slow pace and saw Fannie smiling at him just a centimeter away.

"Did you mean every word you just said?" Fannie's voice was so light and sounded like a ghost. "Do you really love me?"

Nate nodded with a serious face and touched Fannie's face. "Kylie is right. Your soul stays. I only love you..."

Right at this moment, Fannie beamed all of a sudden, and fresh blood flew out from the corner of her lips.

Nate was scared and ran outside at once. "Help! Help! Dead Fannie talks!"
