429 Chapter 429: Don’t Lose Your Temper

Matthew was struck dumb.

He did read the news of the Century Group in a newspaper, but he didn't pay attention to its date.

Old Mr. Parker hit the table with great force and snapped at him, "Look at you! You're just a stupid good-for-nothing!"

Old Mrs. Parker pressed old Mr. Parker's angry hand down and said to the housekeeper, "Prepare a coffee for Matthew."

"Don't lose your temper. Matthew isn't a kid anymore." Old Mrs. Parker comforted old Mr. Parker. "He just wants a second chance."

In fact, old Mr. Parker wanted to end this argument as well, but he was surprised that Ethan didn't walk ahead to comfort him.

Ethan wasn't only the chairman of the Century Group now, but also the Peak Pictures.

Without his permission, it was impossible for Matthew to get a second chance.

Therefore, old Mr. Parker's sight fell on Ethan afterward. "Ethan, thank you for everything you've done for the family and our business. If there is anything you don't want to spare your effort to deal with, you can let Matthew do it."

Hearing that, Matthew immediately understood his father sided with him. "Right. Ethan, if there is anything you don't want to do, let me do it for you. I promise I won't let you down."

Ethan also understood the father and the son were working together to gain benefits. Old Mr. Parker and Matthew were biological father and son, after all.

No matter how successful the Century Group was under his management, it was still the Parker family's business in old Mr. Parker's eyes.

Ethan smiled and said, "Sure. Matthew, if you want to help, there indeed is something I need your help."

"Don't worry. I'll do the best to help you!" Matthew beamed. He was so confident just because he believed Ethan wouldn't assign a complicated task to him.

However, when Ethan told what the job was, Matthew's face changed.

"I plan to acquire land to build the headquarters building of the Century Group at the most expensive area of Seattle. If you can buy land at the lowest price there, you'll be in charge of this project."

"What?" Matthew couldn't believe his ears. "How am I able to do that?"

Old Mr. Parker also frowned. He wasn't delighted with Ethan's offer, but Ethan gave Matthew a second chance anyway.

Besides, Ethan was willing to let Matthew be in charge of the project if he could successfully finish the task.

It was a very important project to build the headquarters building of the Century Group, which was an excellent chance for Matthew to get back to the management of the company.

Thinking of that, Old Mrs. Parker coughed a little, then looked to Matthew. "Didn't you say you won't let Ethan down?"

"Well..." Matthew turned to face his father. "Fine, I take this job, and you can wait and see!"

"I'll go with you." Old Mrs. Parker also stood up and reached out her hand to Ethan.

Ethan walked over and supported his mother, walking to the kitchen.

"Ethan, it isn't a sensible decision." Old Mrs. Parker complained the moment they walked out of the front hall. "How can you assign such a difficult task to Matthew?"

"If Matthew wants to get a position to manage the company again, he must show his ability," Ethan said with a calm face.

Old Mrs. Parker was blaming Ethan, but old Mr. Parker was giving Matthew advice.

"You can't build your career if you can't stay calm!" Old Mr. Parker seemed annoyed.

"Father, don't forget I was the chairman of the Century Group before." Since Ethan and his mother were gone, Matthew relaxed and went to sit with old Mr. Parker.

He raised old Mrs. Parker's coffee and smelt it, then put it back down on the table. "I didn't say a word when you let Ethan take my job in the company once he was back."

Old Mr. Parker gave him a side glance. "If it hadn't been for him, the Century Group could have gone bankrupt!"

Matthew disliked hearing that. "I know he's better than me, but I am your biological son, after all. If he's the chairman of the Century Group, our family business will likely have a new owner at any moment. Are you willing to see that?"

Old Mr. Parker squinted and seemed dangerous.

Matthew knew he hit old Mr. Parker's weak spot. He moved a little near and said, "Moreover, don't you feel embarrassed if I go bargain over the land in person as your biological son?"

Old Mr. Parker thought for a long while before he opened his mouth again. "Take this job for now. If you want to go back to the Century Group, you must win his support."

After that, old Mr. Parker added, "It's easy to acquire land. Do what you want to do, and I'll pay the extra money if it's over budget."

"Thanks, father." Matthew beamed, then drank up old Mrs. Parker's coffee.

Old Mr. Parker wore a resigned look. If Matthew could be as a third outstanding as Ethan, he wouldn't live a terrible life now.

In the kitchen, Kylie was studying a new dish with Taylor.

"A little lemon juice," Kylie said.

"Done," Taylor said.

"Wait for a while, then we can put it on the plate." Kylie took a long breath in and enjoyed the pleasant smell.

"What are you cooking? It smells so good." Old Mrs. Parker walked inside with a smile on the face.

"Mother, we're cooking Lemon Fish for you!" Kylie stood up from a chair and walked to them.

Ethan pulled Kylie to his side and wiped the sauce off her lips. "Did you just secretly eat some?"

Kylie didn't say a word but smiled at him.

Old Mrs. Parker looked at Kylie's belly and said with dissatisfaction, "Kylie, you're too slim. You should eat more, and there is no need to keep your weight since you're pregnant now."

"Mom, I'm not on a diet, but I just don't gain weight no matter how much I've eaten," Kylie said.

Taylor walked over at this time and placed a plate of meat on the table. "Kylie, come on, have some meat."
