Chapter 243 - Her Husband's Big Family

When Zhang Yu Han returned to the elders' side, Elder Qi had his arms around his grandfather's shoulder, speaking something. Zhang Yu Han did not have to listen to know what Elder Qi said to his grandfather. Whenever Elder Qi got a little bit tipsy around his grandfather, he would always speak words of gratitude and thanked his grandfather for looking over his late-grandmother until her death.

This was a normal occurrence whenever the two old men meet each other.

Zhang Yu Han exchanged a glance with Qi Ming Wei and walked over to the elders.

"Grandfather, stop drinking too much. It's cold outside. Let's get inside," Qi Ming Wei tried to coax his grandfather. He took the wine cup away and helped the elderly to stand up.

"Right. Auntie Wu should have done preparing dinner at this time," Zhang Jing said. "Brother-in-law, Ming Wei, the two of you should stay around and have dinner together."

"We shouldn't have to trouble you," Elder Qi tried to be polite.

"Nonsense. I still haven't introduced you to my granddaughter-in-law," Zhang Jing said. Before his brother-in-law could say another word of rejection, Zhang Jing has already entered the house to see the dinner preparation.

Zhang Yu Han let out a chuckle at his grandfather's attitude around Elder Qi. Although his grandfather had always said that he did not like Elder Qi, it was obvious that he still cared about the old man.

Seeing that his grandfather had led his guests into the living room, Zhang Yu Han walked over to the kitchen to find his wife. His steps stopped at the entrance as he continued to watch his wife cutting some honeydew. Once in awhile, Li Qin Yao would laugh at what Auntie Wu and his sister's words.

A chuckle escaped his lips when he caught his wife stealing a bite at the honeydew.

The three women turned when they heard his voice.

Zhang Yu Han straightened up and sauntered inside. "Grandfather invited others to have dinner together. Auntie Wu, is everything ready?"

Auntie Wu looked at the dishes on the kitchen counter and spoke, "Yes. Everything is ready. I'll bring the food outside."

"Auntie Wu, I'll help you," Zhang Yu Ying volunteered.

As the others left the kitchen, Zhang Yu Han walked over to his wife and put his arms around her waist. He watched her steal another bite at the honeydew and chuckled. "Is it delicious?"

"Un. They're pretty sweet." Li Qin Yao tilted her head up to meet his gaze and offered a bite from her hand. "Here, try them."

However, instead of taking a bite from the fruit on her hand, Zhang Yu Han leaned in to press their lips together. After a few seconds, he had stolen the sweet melon in her mouth.

"Hmm… it is sweet." Zhang Yu Han smiled mischievously at his wife.

"You…" Li Qin Yao's face turned red when she finally realized what had happened. Quickly, she began to scan for their surroundings. Once she was sure that there was no one else other than the two of them, Li Qin Yao let out a sigh of relief. "What if someone sees us."

"What happened? What's wrong with me kissing my wife?" Zhang Yu Han said nonchalantly. Before Li Qin Yao could say another word to reprimand him, Zhang Yu Han leaned in to kiss her again. A low laugh escaped him when he saw his wife's angry look. His hands moved up and down around her waist as if he was trying to pacify her. "Come outside. Grandfather wanted to introduce you to my granduncle."

Hearing that she was going to be introduced to the elder, her annoyance quickly disappear. Li Qin Yao finished her job quickly and washed her hand. Then, she walked out from the kitchen carrying a bowl of honeydew. Once she had passed the bowl to Auntie Wu, Li Qin Yao followed her husband to meet the elders.

"Qin Yao, you're here," Zhang Jing called with a bright smile on his face. His gaze fell at Li Qin Yao's ankle and he frowned. "I heard that you injured your ankle. Is it better now?"

"After resting home for a week, it's all better now," Li Qin Yao said. "I should be able to return to work next week."

Zhang Jing waved his hand and motioned her to come closer. "Come here. Let me introduce you," he turned to the man beside him and continued. "This is my brother-in-law, uh… he is Yu Han and Yu Ying's granduncle. Qin Yao, you can also call him as your granduncle."

Li Qin Yao nodded politely at the elderly. "Granduncle."

Elder Qi laughed merrily as he heard her call. "I heard that Yu Han got married recently. So you're his wife. Come here," Elder Qi pulled out a red envelope from his pocket and handed it to Li Qin Yao. "Don't reject my gift. Just take it as if it was a gift from Yu Han's grandmother."

"Granduncle, thank you."

Seeing that she did not reject his gift, the smile on Elder Qi's face widened.

"This man over here is Qi Ming Wei," Zhang Yu Han introduced. "He's my second cousin. Qi Zheng, Feng An Yu, and he are cousins."

Li Qin Yao greeted Qi Ming Wei and nodded as she recalled meeting Qi Zheng and Feng An Yu when Zhang Yu Han took her to be introduced to his friends. Hearing about her husband's big family, Li Qin Yao was momentarily in a daze.

"That's right, when will your parents returned?" Elder Qi asked. "Since you have already obtained a marriage certificate, you should hurry and hold a wedding banquet."

"My mom and dad said that they might be able to come back around Christmas," Zhang Yu Han said. "Once they returned, we will meet with my wife's elders and discuss the wedding."

Elder Qi nodded his head in satisfaction. Then, he turned to his grandson with a reproaching gaze. "You… look at Yu Han. He has already brought home a wife. When will you or the others bring home your girlfriend for me to see?"

Qi Ming Wei smiled. "Grandfather, how about approving my vacation days so that I can take a break from work? Maybe then I will be able to bring back a girl and introduce her to you."

...

As Zhang Yu Han drove back to their apartment, he caught his wife staring at him for a long time. Once he parked his Cayenne at his usual parking spot, Zhang Yu Han did not hurry to unlock the door and instead, pulled his wife to his arms and kissed at her forehead.

"What's wrong? Why do you keep staring at me?"

"Isn't it because you're too good looking?" Li Qin Yao teased.

Zhang Yu Han chuckled at her words. "Then let's just stare at each other. I can stare at my beautiful wife for a long time too."

Li Qin Yao shrunk her neck shyly to hide that sheepish smile on her face. Then, she looked up at him again and asked, "Zhang Yu Han, you didn't tell me that your parents are returning soon."
