Chapter 388 - Offended Too Many People

Li Mu Chen had thought that she would be able to be reunited with her mother when she walked into prison. However, she had not thought that she would be separated from the rest of the other prisoners. Don't mention about meeting her mother, she was not allowed to meet anyone else other than the staff.

After staying in prison for a few weeks, Li Mu Chen was not as beautiful or glamorous as she was. Her face paled, her hair was messy and she looked so dirty that she started to resemble a crazy woman.

Shan Zi had wanted her to shut up about his involvement in the incident and she had agreed as long as that man did not make things hard for her. But she did not think that he would change his mind.

Staying alone in a separate room was making her agitated. It was driving her crazy! As someone who would often be surrounded by people all around her, this was abusing her mental. She could not think straight and was often in fear.

Realizing that Shan Zi had changed his mind, Li Mu Chen would often yell out Shan Zi's name and how he was involved in the incident in B City.

However, whenever she was shouting around like a madwoman, the guards would enter her room and abused her. Her body hurt all over, but she was denied medication. The guards were smart. They would beat her to at a spot that would leave no mark. No matter how much Li Mu Chen wanted to complain, she did not have her proof.

The only thing she can hope for was to wait for her brother or grandfather to come over and visit. Li Mu Chen was determined to inform them of Shan Zi's involvement and perhaps, she would be free from this mental torture.

However, a few weeks have passed since she was locked in the room. No one had come to visit her.

Of course, Li Mu Chen did not know that because of what she had done, both her brother and grandfather were too busy to deal with the damage to the company. They could not be negligent or else, their competitors would find a way to bring them down.

Thinking that she was abandoned by her brother and grandfather, Li Mu Chen started to harbor a deep resentment towards them.

Li Mu Chen snapped out of her trance and she was startled as the door swung open. She lifted her head and her body trembled upon seeing the guard at the door.

"You," the guard pointed at her. "Come out."

"W-what do you want?"

The guard sneered upon sensing her fear. "Someone is here to see you."

Her eyes brightened up at the thought that her brother or grandfather had come over to visit her. Li Mu Chen stood up and immediately followed after the guard. However, her expression started to change upon seeing that she was not taken towards the visitation room. Instead, she was taken to a quiet, empty field.

"Where are you taking me?" Li Mu Chen asked. "Didn't you say that someone is here to see me? Why did you take me here?"

The guard shot her a look and ignored her question. Li Mu Chen had no choice but to follow the guard.

Soon, the guard stopped abruptly as they reached a secluded corner and raised her hand into a salute. "Sir!"

The male officer waved his hand. "You can leave us now."

Li Mu Chen started to tremble as she recognized the voice. She tilted her head up to look at the man and her gaze stuck on him.

The guard gave another glance at Li Mu Chen and leave her to that male officer.

"Wow, Li Mu Chen, you looked like shit. I haven't seen you like this before," the man spoke. He gave her a look over and was suddenly disgusted at how she looked like.

Li Mu Chen snapped out of her trance as she heard his voice. She had wanted to stop the guard from leaving but had no way that to escape. The man behind her had grabbed her waist with one hand and placed another hand around her neck. Li Mu Chen was having difficulties breathing. She knew that one wrong move, the man would not hesitate to snap her neck.

"What's the matter?" The man whispered into her ears. "I heard that you have been shouting my name every day. Now that I have come to see you, you wanted to run away?"

"S-Shan Zi," Li Mu Chen tried to breathe. "Release me. Let's talk slowly, alright?"

The man let out a chuckle before his grip around her neck started to loosen. "That's more like it. "

Li Mu Chen took a deep breath and coughed a few times until her face turned red. "Why are you here?"

Shan Zi raised a brow. "Isn't it because you keep shouting my name every day? Li Mu Chen, you should know what would happen if you make me unhappy. We have an agreement. You keep your mouth shut, and I won't lay a hand on you."

Hearing his words, Li Mu Chen suddenly felt a surge of anger. "What do you mean? I did as you told. I have never mentioned you to my brother no matter how much he asked. Shan Zi, you were the one who goes against your word first. You told me that you will let me live peacefully here with my mother. If I behaved, you promised to let me out sooner. But, you had someone to keep me in an isolated room! I had never seen my mother once ever since I stepped in here. I was beaten! I was not treated like a human! I was forced to deal with mental and physical abuse!" Tears trailed down on her face as she began to recall her days in prison.

"Li Mu Chen, what do you mean? I am a gentleman and I don't go back to my words."

Li Mu Chen muttered some nasty curse. "You lie to me. You—"

Shan Zi gripped her chin tightly. "It wasn't me. It was not my fault that you have offended too many people. The things that were happening to you know was not something that I do."

Her eyes widened. "Who is it?"

"Think carefully."

No matter how much Li Mu Chen tried to think, she could not figure out anyone that she had offended. In that case, Shan Zi must be lying to her!

Of course, Li Mu Chen would not think that she had offended too many people in the past. Or else, how would some of them come out and testify that she often met with some thugs at Shan Zi's club.

"Li Mu Chen, let me remind you again to keep your mouth shut. Or else, you would be facing something worst than what you experienced now," Shan Zi spoke. His lips curled into a smile and Shan Zi patted at her cheek. "You have helped me to achieve what I want. Of course, I will treat you well as long as you keep your mouth shut."

Of course, Li Mu Chen was too consumed with anger and hatred that she was not able to hear his words. Her eyes darted around as she looked for a chance to escape and her eyes stopped at the baton on Shan Zi's waist. Li Mu Chen took the chance to grab the weapon and failed when Shan Zi had noticed her movement.

Li Mu Chen ġrȯȧnėd in pain as she felt Shan Zi gripped her hair tightly.

"It seems like you're looking for death?" Shan Zi spoke in a harsh voice. He lowered his gaze towards the baton on his waist and smiled. "You like this thing? How about I let you taste how it feels to be beaten by this?"
