Chapter 438 - Side Story 6: Song Yi's Rumored Fiance (2)

fiance

When Song Yi had heard from Brother Fu that his ex-fiance showed up at their company to find Han Yue Xiu, he was worried. He quickly left the office to head over to the cafe where the two women went to and came in time to hear Han Yue Xiu's words that she did not like him. His heart ached. But he stayed to eavesdrop long enough until Han Yue Xiu left the cafe without having her lunch.

He was glad that she had left unharmed, but the words she said about him lingered and it took him a while to compose himself.

After he watched her walked away, Song Yi stayed out for a while and came back to the office just as lunch hour passed. He came back with some snacks and passed it around the office, then, he went to Han Yue Xiu's office and knocked.

"Have you eaten?" Song Yi asked as he walked into the room. Before she could answer, Song Yi spoke again, "I was meeting a client and they sent over some snacks. I have passed them around to the others. This is for you."

Han Yue Xiu peered at the boxes and her mouth watered upon seeing the egg tarts. She thanked Song Yi and started eating. Previously, she had lost her appetite because of Fang Meng Ran. Her stomach was growling but other than some bags of chips, she did not have any other snacks in her room.

Once he saw that Han Yue Xiu had started eating, Song Yi went over to his room and picked up his phone to call the residence in Y City.

Han Yue Xiu was relieved that Fang Meng Ran did not come to look after her again after that. She was expecting that the woman might come to ask her to return her fiance, and wondered if her little speech had finally entered Fang Meng Ran's head and she had decided to stop blaming her.

Everything was going smoothly until Fang Meng Ran appeared in front of her again.

Han Yue Xiu had wanted to ignore this woman but soon noticed that Fang Meng Ran's gaze was no longer as arrogance as it was a few days ago. Just before Han Yue Xiu was going to ignore this woman, Fang Meng Ran had grabbed at Han Yue Xiu's arms and stopped her.

"Miss Han, we need to talk." Fang Meng Ran's expression showed anxiety.

Han Yue Xiu removed her arms away from her grip. "I don't have anything to talk to you."

"Miss Han, please wait. I need to tell you that" Fang Meng Ran's words were left unfinished. Her body froze when noticed that someone was staring at her with an intense gaze.

Han Yue Xiu saw her strange expression and followed her gaze. She saw that Song Yi had just entered the building and chuckled. "Miss Fang, it seemed that you are here to see Song Yi right? Then I have to excuse myself first."

Fang Meng Ran snapped out of her trance as she noticed that Han Yue Xiu was leaving. However, no matter how much she wanted to stop her from leaving, Fang Meng Ran did not have the guts to do it with the way Song Yi was watching them.

"Miss Fang," Song Yi's voice contained anger as he approached the woman. "Hasn't your father warned you not to approach me or Miss Han again?"

Fang Meng Ran shivered upon hearing his voice. Her body trembled slightly, but she grabbed at Song Yi's clothes and tried to persuade him. "Song Yi! Why are you doing this to me? We were fine not too long ago."

Song Yi stared at the woman in front of him for a few seconds. "Miss Fang, our engagement was nothing but our family's arrangement. I have no feelings towards you and you don't love me."

"But I love you," Feng Meng Ran spoke quickly.

Hearing her words made Song Yi laughed. "You… love me? Miss Fang, what you love was just the status of Mrs. Song. You don't love me." He saw that the woman opened her mouth to respond, and spoke again. "Do you think that I was not aware of what you have done behind my back when we were still engaged?"

Fang Meng Ran's face paled.

It would be a lie if she did not take advantage of her identity as Song Yi's fiance. Those wealthy socialists wanted to befriend her. Guys wanted to approach her and sometimes, she found herself unable to resist the temptation.

She was sure that everything she did was not within the Song's family's knowledge.

"The point is, I won't be able to marry someone I did not like," Song Yi said. "Miss Fang, do you want to stay in a loveless marriage where your husband would mistreat you?"

"I don't care about that. As long as we can stay together, it will be fine. There are a lot of loveless marriages these days and those couples were able to stay together for a long time, right?"

Anyway, she could not let Song Yi go. Her father had threatened her. If she did not talk to Song Yi and ensure that the engagement will continue and they were going to marry next year, she better not come back home.

The Fang's family had faced a lot of difficulties after Song Yi had broken their engagement and they were struggling after Fang Meng Ran had come to look for Han Yue Xiu. Once her father knew that she had made Song Yi angry, he was furious with her.

If she did not correct this wrong, then how will she be able to return to Y City?

"Miss Fang, you might be able to stay in a loveless marriage, but I cannot do that," Song Yi said. He inched closer to her and whispered, "Are you sure you were willing to marry someone who will mistreat you? Even if it will be tormenting for you?"

Fang Meng Ran's eyes widened and her body shivered at his threat. She had a feeling that if she will be in pain if she continued to push him. Her father's words appeared in her mind and suddenly, Fang Meng Ran did not know what she should do.

Song Yi left as soon as he finished what he wanted to say. The first thing he did was to head over to Han Yue Xiu's office. Her heartbeat accelerated when he could not see her in her room.

He immediately turned around to look for her, but his footsteps halted when he heard the familiar laughing voice. Song Yi followed the sound of laughter and found that Han Yue Xiu was in the pantry with a fried dough in her hand as she continued to joke around with a few of their staff.

A helpless sigh escaped him as he noticed that the girl still had an appetite to eat after meeting Fang Meng Ran downstairs.
