"Excuse me, sir. I'm sorry to bother you, but my boss instructed me to invite you to have a cup of tea in his office, and that he would be very happy if you accepted," the attendant said with his head slightly lowered, showing the respect he felt for Noah.
Noah was surprised by this situation. He didn't think it he was going to get so much attention from the chief organizer of this tournament. As much as he really wanted to just sit in the driver's seat of his new car, Noah thought it would be at least polite to show respect to the boss of this place who gave him such a formal invitation.
"Sure. Please, lead the way." Noah responded politely to the attendant by returning the kindness that the attendant was showing him.
He had become curious about this place, since Robert's friends showed so much respect and fear for this place. It showed how important someone had to be to be respected by the employees of that place. Now that the boss himself had invited Noah to his office, it just made Noah feel even more curious about it all.
The office itself was not far. Despite being well organized, it was clear that the place was not a real definitive office. After all, in a place like this, which could probably be discarded at any time to change the location of fights, it would make no sense to invest thousands of dollars to renovate the place.
The attendant politely knocked on the door, and after confirming that he could open it, he politely opened the door for Noah without entering the room, which Noah noticed meant that he and the boss were likely to have a private conversation.
When he entered the room, he realized that this was indeed the case. Inside the room was just himself, and on a dark table, another person that because of the darkness, Noah could not see with his eyes who they might be, but it didn't mean he couldn't try to use his Pyakugan to see who that mysterious person was.
But something that Noah didn't expect to happen at all, happened at that moment. For the first time, the ability he used to see in any situation had been denied. When he tried to look at the person in front of him with the Pyakugan, the only thing he could see was a black shadow, quite different from what he was used to.
For a second, he let the surprise show through his expression, which was not ignored by the person in front of him, who laughed a little at the situation before commenting on it. "Mr Stern, did you know that it is impolite to try to observe the secrets of people who are trying to maintain privacy?"
Hearing that voice, Noah felt two shocks: First, because the voice he heard was not distinguishable between male or female. Each word seemed that it had been said by a different sex, which further contributed to the doubt and mystery in Noah's mind. And second, what caught his attention even more was that this person called him Stern. He didn't give that name when he had introduced himself to anyone, just saying that his name was Noah.
So with that, blah went back to his empty expression and answered back, "I'm sorry, but researching a person's life when you don't even want to divulge your own appearance doesn't seem like a sign of respect for privacy either."
Hearing Noah's response, the person on the other side of the table, hugged by the darkness, gave another chuckle - a chuckle that caused Noah to shiver, who, even trying his best, could not decipher so much as what that person's gender was.
But apparently by that person's jovial tone, this was all very amusing. "What you said makes sense, Mr. Stern, but unfortunately, even though I agree with your statement, I still can't reveal myself to you. After all, it's not yet time."
Hearing what the person said, Noah raised an eyebrow in confusion. What did this person mean by that?
But the person continued, "Calling you for tea was just a random excuse. The reason I called you here was to give you advice."
Hearing the person say this, Noah wondered what kind of advice they could give. After all, advice can be either good or bad, and coming from someone he didn't know, Noah didn't have much of a expectation to think it would be productive, after all, that person didn't show their purpose in all of this.
"And why do you want to give me advice?" Noah asked.
"Simple. We are more related than you can imagine, but unfortunately, knowing who I am will only bring you more problems for now. I will not force you to follow my advice; I am just saying this for your own sake. I'm sure that after thinking about what I'm going to tell you, you will understand my point of view," the person responded with a serious tone.
Noah, realizing that the person was not showing any kind of animosity at least, gave the benefit of the doubt to him / her and listened to what they had to say.
"Don't ask me how, because I can't answer that, but I know that you have great power. And as a famous character once said, 'With great powers come great responsibilities'. But in your case, both your responsibilities with that power, and how colossal the dangers are that it brings to you, seeing how you've dealt with your power so far, I can tell that you're doing a great job. Your creativity is truly greater than anyone imagined, but you're ignoring something very important: you need to do all the work," the person said, before disappearing in an explosion of flames, an explosion of flames with which Noah had become quite accustomed.
But unlike Noah's explosion of flames, this explosion was completely black. The flames themselves were black, the feeling that was left in their place was an emptiness, and the process happened several times faster than it did for Noah, since when he used this ability, it took him almost a full second to disappear. But as soon as the explosion happened with the person, in that same fraction of seconds in which it happened, there was no one else there.
This explosion, while creating countless doubts in Noah's mind, also answered many of the questions he already had, even if indirectly, since with that he could at least deduce where the person had learned about him without him having to ask that person anything or them having to answer.
'So... did I just speak to a demon? That was my first contact with a real demon besides Lilith... and he came to tell me that I don't need to do all the work… What did he mean by that?' Noah began to think, taking advantage of the fact that the office was empty.
'This person said that my creativity was very good, and that it was helping me more than they imagined. These single phrases already beg so many questions that I don't even know how to start thinking.
In the first part they told me that my creativity was very good, before telling me that I could use other people... My most creativity-dependent ability is [Hell's Contract] ... if what I did with Mufag could be replicated as easily with Terrence... it might work.
Really, maybe I don't need to dedicate myself so much to invading Fortresses and just reaping the rewards. I could then use my time to focus on other things and become powerful in more practical ways.'
Noah's mind was working at high speed. Before he knew it, 40 minutes had passed and he hadn't even left the makeshift office yet.
Just as he realized it, no more noise was heard outside the room. Opening the door, there was no one else there: there was no attendant, there were no fighters, there were no spectators, everyone was gone, leaving only Noah in the lonely shed.
Since no one else was there, only Noah's new car was parked outside. He promptly sat in the driver's seat and enjoyed the feeling of owning this masterpiece.
Since Maggy advised him to buy a car, Noah had looked at several car models, and he had decided to buy a cheaper car, probably a $10,000 car just to move from place to place, but now that he had the opportunity to own such an expensive, beautiful, and luxurious car, Noah took great advantage of it.
Just like when he played Valorwatch, sitting in the driver's seat opened a small smile on Noah's face. He was beginning to like cars more and more by the moment.
Starting the engine and hearing the roar that the combustion made definitely could not be measured in words in terms of how rewarding it was. To feel the car vibrating fully, and announcing its presence like a sleeping dragon... As much as the government tried to reduce combustion cars by encouraging electric cars, those who were truly passionate about cars did not mind paying $4 for each gallon of fuel fuel (approximately 4 liters). Blessed Ones who received thousands of dollars a day cared even less about this price, since a single invasion of a Fortress could pay for gasoline for an entire year of consumption, depending on the rank of the Fortress.
Noah was even more pleased to note that there was a place to store one's sunglasses with a pair already inside, which probably belonged to Robert, who may not have even remembered the glasses were in there when he gave the key to Noah.
Noah, of course, took what were now his glasses and put them on his face while driving around the city in the magnificent sports car he just "won", while thinking about the second part of what the mysterious arena organizer said... about "them" being satisfied with what he did... but who were "they"?
