"What if I said I can give that power to anyone?" Noah asked the two of them as he opened his palm while a pentagram appeared on the floor, from which a small red imp started to come out of it like a portal and appeared standing between Noah and the other two.
Seeing that "red goblin" emerge from a strange pentagram, Carlos' first reaction was to step back and draw a pistol to aim at the "monster". After all, he did not have a Blessing to protect himself, and as he came from a wealthy family, of course he had a gun.
Patrick, on the other hand, was a little shocked and just retreated behind Carlos, since his Blessing would not help anything in this battle.
But strangely for both of them, the little imp just turned to Noah as he stared at him expectantly for a command.
Mentally Noah ordered the imp to turn to the two frightened young men and wave his arm, just as a human would.
When the two saw the little imp waving at them, Carlos frowned as he tried to understand what was going on, while Patrick just waved back with a little uncertainty.
Noah laughed at Patrick's reaction and started to explain. "My Blessing has evolved to allow me to summon these imps. Basically these little imps obey any command I give them, and the strength they carry is nothing to be overlooked," Noah said as he ordered the imp to run away at full speed, which made the other two look quite stunned.
"Damn, that must be very practical. A living being that obeys any order, in addition to being able to be controlled by you to be summoned or returned to his own world, would definitely fit in with what I would need desire to protect myself," Carlos said thoughtfully as he holstered the pistol.
Patrick also gave his contribution. "If I could command a monster so agile like that in a Fortress and its strength was not low, I could probably move up to Rank E as a summoner without difficulty, and salary of the Blessed Rank E would be more than enough for me to buy a home and live a comfortable life… Congratulations, Noah."
Hearing what they both said, Noah noticed that they still didn't realize where he was going with this, so, expending a little more of his energy, Noah raised his hands again while four more pentagrams appeared on the floor, which made Carlos and Patrick look at each other with shock after seeing 4 imps appear exactly like the first one who was returning back at Noah's command.
"With so many... eh... imps... maybe you wouldn't even need teammates to break into Rank E Fortresses. You could do it all yourself!" Patrick said excitedly about the possibility.
Carlos started to understand what Noah was trying to demonstrate, and tried to formulate what he understood back to Noah. "Didn't you comment about you being able to give that power to other people?... In which case, would you be using these... um, imps...?"
Noah knew Carlos was smart, with a smile he started to explain in detail what he had planned. "Yes, the imps would be how I would do this. Currently I can summon 15 imps in total. I plan to use 3 for myself, and I hope you test these imps on a daily basis: Carlos in the real world, while Patrick tests inside a Rank F Fortress to see how it will perform. As for the other 10 imps, I thought of setting up something like a rental. The person will come to me and we will make an X hour contract where the person can command the Imp and will have responsibility for him. Regardless of whether they die or not, the person will still have to pay all hours of the deal. After time runs out, the contract will disappear and the imp will return for another pentagram on the ground, regardless of if they were in battle or not."
Hearing what Noah said, Patrick was delighted to be able to control such a powerful "monster", while Carlos was amazed at the possibilities. Hundreds of questions arose in both of their minds, but Carlos took the opportunity to ask what else was puzzling him.
"Can you really define such a thing: a contract that gives the imp command to someone else for a certain time? Damn, if that is true, it will be exactly as you said: you would be able to revolutionize the world. Weaker Blessed Ones could invade higher level Fortresses only depending on the imps, while you would receive a lot of money without having to take a risk by breaking into the Fortresses yourself. To profit from this you could start by charging a price per hour, or a fee on how much the person would receive in a Fortress, or maybe even try to make a balance and turn it into a single price.
A monster capable of allowing anyone to invade a Rank E Fortress would be a huge success. After all, an invasion in a Fortress of this level has a reward of $ 1,000. If you factor in Blessed that are already Rank E who can use the imps as help to invade peak Rank E Fortresses, or even try to take on Rank D... Damn, my head keeps thinking of more possibilities." Carlos talked non-stop about everything that came into his head.
Noah gave him some time to think better and try to find the best ideas among all of the ones that were popping into his friend's head. That's exactly why Noah wanted Carlos, not so much for him to test the imps, but for him him to use business experience he had gained from his family to try to turn these imps into a truly profitable market within their means.
If Noah were able to rent out the 10 imps for just $300 each a day, it would basically be money from an invasion of a Rank D Fortress a day, without taking any chances or even wasting any of his own time. Not to mention that with the utility of the imps, he could even charge $500 for each one, since he knew people would be willing to pay. A Blessed Rank F received only $200- $300 disregarding medical expenses, for payment, which would likely reduce that money to $100- $200. With an imp, he would be able to break into Rank E Fortresses that pay $1,000, where he wouldn't have to take any chances, since the imp would do all the work, he would have all the $1,000 left over. Disregarding the $500 rental fee, there would still be $500 left for the Blessed to take home. For those who receive $100 to $200 a day, going on to receive $500 would be an increase of 2.5 to possibly even 5 times!
Not to mention that the Blessed could invade more than one Fortress a day if they managed to finish the first in a short time. And since they wouldn't have to struggle during the first Fortress, they would be perfectly fine to invade another Fortress, leaving the tired imp as support this time, and earning them even more extra money.
The problem was that Noah couldn't find the balance to make the sales the best way possible, so he decided to let Carlos take care of that part.
Patrick would be the real guinea pig. Since Patrick had nothing of knowledge to offer that they didn't already know, and Carlos couldn't enter Fortresses because he didn't have a Blessing, Patrick would be charged with figuring out how useful the imp would be in a Rank F Fortress and a Rank E Fortress respectively.
Initially Patrick was concerned about not having enough money to rent an imp, but when Noah said it would be free for him, since he would still be testing for them, Patrick was immediately satisfied.
The two were very curious about how it worked, so Noah decided to hand over control of an imp to each of them.
Summoning an imp would need energy. For Noah, who had 14 mana, he could summon a maximum of 15 imps and a fire dagger before running out of power, so this was something he would have to consider when renting out the imps.
Since Carlos did not have a Blessing, Noah had to use his own energy to summon Carlos' imp, or else leave the energy stored in the contract's pentagram, which he did.
In developing Carlos' contract, Noah specified that the contract would take up enough energy to summon a 3x imp. As an imp was not a toy, but a monster that would be used for battles or protection, Carlos would not be summoning the little monster and returning it to the portal or summon the imp and leave it summoned all the time; he would only be able to call it out during emergencies.
Since Patrick was Blessed, for his contract Noah specified that the energy used to summon the imp would be used using Patrick's reserves. Noah wouldn't then have to spend any of his own energy, while Patrick could summon and make the imp come back as many times as he had enough energy to do. But as he was a Blessed Rank F, the most he could do was summon the imp every 1 or 2 hours, which was more than enough for a Fortress where the imp would be summoned all the time.
After "signing" the contract on the pentagram that floated in front of them, the pentagrams floated into each of their hands and instinctively they already knew how to summon the imps, which they did immediately to start testing to see how these monsters worked.
Looking at this, Noah began to get excited, thinking about how much money he would have, and what people would be willing to do to have control of powerful imps like those.
'Maybe my skill will level up faster than I thought... What will happen when it reaches level 02?' Noah wondered.
