Chapter 157: On Fire

Name:Lucifer's Descendant System Author:
Noah realized that the Blessed Ones were looking at him among the imps, and he decided to do one last test for these people, to see who it would be worth to save or not.

Through the mental link he had, Noah ordered the imps to quickly try to attack him.

This was Noah's first order that the imps ever wondered whether they should obey or not, since not only by the contract and knowing that Noah was Lucifer's Descendant, and especially after seeing Noah's wings, the respect of the imps was on a level toward Noah that treated him as their absolute God.

But Noah reinforced his mental command and caused the imps to start attacking him, even though against their will.

The thirteen imps came together to try to attack Noah, but without using any skills. They were just attacking him with physical strength, sometimes making a cut on him, other times giving a very strong punch, to try to give the humans the best impression that he was in an uphill battle.

And instead of the group going to help him, as was expected of someone who was already a teammate, Thomas took the opportunity to speak. "Do you see people? This is what happens when you separate from the group. Now he will just die to the monsters without being able to fight back. What a pity; if he had contributed to us and he hadn't been so stupid as to touch a burning monster, maybe he could have survived this Fortress."

Hearing what Thomas said, most of the Blessed just nodded and looked at Noah as if he was getting what he deserved after screwing up the group and didn't even lift a finger to try to help.

But there was a minority: three people who were really concerned about Noah. Incredibly, Amber was not the only one, but there were also a couple of older Blessed Ones who cared about Noah.

While Amber was concerned about Noah for knowing that he was not a bad person, and that he was not truly corrupted by the power he received, the couple of older Blessed had a different reason. They had a son about Noah's age who was still in Rank F, almost reaching Rank E. They wondered if their son were to go through a situation like that in a Fortress, what they would want to happen, what they would expect the other Blessed to do in the Fortress to help him, and the answer was clear: They would definitely want someone to help their son so that the boy would not die just because of something minimal he had done wrong, just like Noah.

Then, to the amazement of the main group of Blessed, three people left their formation and ran towards Noah to try to help him deal with the imps.

Noah always paid attention from the corner of his eye toward the group of humans and when the three people left the group to come and help him, his heart was truly warmed. He thought that only Amber would stand out to come and help him, but he did not expect there would be a couple more Blessed to come and help him.

Then, having confirmed that no one else in the group was willing to come and help him, Noah ordered the imps to stop attacking him, causing all the humans to be surprised.

They were seeing that Noah was having a life and death battle with those monsters, which although they hadn't seen them before, seemed to fit in very well with this Fortress, which made them assume that the monsters came from one of these lava pools.

But when the monsters stopped attacking Noah and stood beside him in a straight formation, just like an army, they couldn't help but slow down a bit and wonder what was going on.

Noah, who had several injuries to his body, suddenly opened a warm smile on his face, a smile that none of them had seen yet, but that was certainly as charming as one might expect when it came from a young man as handsome as Noah.

And with the warm, confident smile on his face, each of Noah's wounds started to catch fire, which worried the Blessed again who had come to rescue Noah, while the others were happy once again.

But in a few seconds these flames disappeared, giving way to Noah's perfectly smooth skin, which didn't even have any scar marks or even dirt.

"Noah ... is everything okay?" Amber asked a little doubtfully.

This made Noah look at her once more, from top to bottom, and realize that although she was doing well for the course of a Rank D Fortress, she still had some light cuts and small scratches. So without answering, Noah's smile was a little amused as he held out his hand, and in front of everyone, it set Amber on fire, who because of the astonishment for not waiting for him to do this, failed to react in time and was totally engulfed by Noah's flames.

The rest of the Blessed were completely petrified in shock. They would never have imagined that Noah would be so ungrateful as to burn a teammate, to burn someone who cared about him, and in Thomas's mind, to burn someone as hot as Amber.

The couple who had rushed to help Noah with Amber instinctively took a step back, afraid of Noah. But in the next moment, different from what everyone imagined, the flames around Amber disappeared, and she appeared on her feet again. And to everyone's surprise, besides being upright and perfectly fine, in fact, all the injuries she had accumulated during the Fortress siege had disappeared.

Their healer had died because of a sneak attack by one of the ghosts who came out of one of the lava pools, causing the group to have no way of treating their own injuries inside the Fortress, now having to walk around with injuries all over their bodies, just hoping that they could end this Fortress as soon as possible to receive medical treatment from healers and doctors so as not to let the wounds become infected.

But seeing Amber appear with her skin perfectly fine, apparently without any injuries, each of the Blessed looked at Noah with shock. They didn't think he was a healer, and due to the healing ability he had, in addition to the almost instantaneous healing speed, it made Noah more valuable than any Blessed Rank D, probably even allowing him to be accepted into invasion groups of Rank C for his Blessing alone.

Immediately the attitude of almost all the Blessed changed toward Noah. The cold and distant look they had given off towards the young man turned into looks of adoration and affection, as if they had never had any malicious thoughts for him, and as if they had not just a few seconds ago simply watched while he was apparently having a life and death battle.

As a thank you for coming to help him, even without any thought of reward, Noah decided to give a reward to this Blessed couple as well who came with Amber, and just as he did with her, Noah used his flames to burn both of their wounds and return their skin back to perfection.

Fortunately Noah was still burning one of the corpses of the monsters that the imps had killed. Otherwise he would have probably run out of energy after healing so often, since the cost of this ability was much higher than the most destructive version of [Hell Flames] he could muster.

Sensing that they had been healed, Amber and the couple started touching their own faces to see if it was true, and it really was. Even a little acne that the woman had accumulated on her face because of the unhealthy diet she had was gone, leaving behind a beautifully smooth skin like that of a young adult similar to Amber.

This caused the expressions of astonishment and greed in the other Blessed to intensify even more, wanting Noah to heal them and make them look better just like he had done with those three, but to their surprise and disappointment, the friendly expression that Noah had on his face when he addressed Amber and the couple disappeared immediately when his gaze fell on the group that has failed to come to his aid.

Noah had not forgotten how he had been treated by them when they entered the Fortress, just disregarding him during the battle, when most were looking at him angrily as if he was doing something wrong. He remembered the angry looks that they gave him when a man lost an arm and how they had started to blame him without any proof, as if that was his fault since they couldn't blame their own incompetence in that situation. And worse, the looks they had given him every time they had stopped to rest, as if they wanted him to die in the next confrontation they were going to face.

Noah remembered each of those looks. He certainly wasn't going to forget them. It was not like he had actively wished for them to die, but it's not like he was going to regret if this had actually happened.

And Noah's cold gaze, which practically said he wasn't looking at any humans among them, but at a bunch of pieces of shit, was very noticeable, and the Blessed Ones who were going to him, preparing to kiss his ass in flattery, felt what he meant and stopped where they were standing.
